"I said, I'm taking an EXTRA turn."
That counter turn was so amazing to watch. Well played by Nikos!
Thx. :)
@@nikos731do you happen to have a decklist? Link is broke in video
Surprised to see the Smothering Tithe resolve without being negated, since Chulane was likely to feed Zedruu
One player tried :)
@@okgut2033 they got so many treasures out of it. Gotta applaud the sudden substitution play though, that was clutch to handle both Dovin's Vetos
I loved the Sudden line. It totally caught me offguard.
It is possible that they subconsciously thought that it will be immediately destroyed since there was already a Trygon Predator in play.
I'm a simple man. I see Chulane, I get sad
I'm a simple man. I see Chulane, I lose
I like playing him with a really janky deck, since he's so overtuned he can carry just about anything.
@@WhereNightingaleSing that is my greatest problem with him. He does everything and has no downsides, what makes him a broken and uninspired commander most of the time. Only with jank decks he can become fun, but not much for my taste
@@WhereNightingaleSing It's nice that broken commanders exist for all the people who want to make their jank work. But all the people who just play the Chulane Goodstuff valuetrain? Fuck those.
these brawl decks had some of the most broken cards...
This game was a nice reminder infinite mana can win games, but so can just a large, finite sum as well. A fine battle of the Blues with a spicy doubled counter war was some nice interaction.
That Zedruu alter art is just the cutest~! How could anyone refuse those donated permanents with those puppy eyes...
Thank you so much. :) The alter is based on my real life doggy, a 16-year old Golden.
@@nikos731 Adorable!
First time I have seen Zedruu not only doing its thing, but in one of the most absurd ways as well.
Bravo!
Was hoping to see Patron of the Moon go off, that can be such a cool deck
I've never seen that in action. What would the gameplan be for this kind of deck?
I like the overall design of moonfolk, but they're just sooo... bad.
@@corhydrae3238 I play patron of the moon! Most of the combos involve infinite landfall triggers using the moonfolk land bounce ability with patron of the moon's land playing ability or something similar. Oftentimes you do need something like amulet of vigor or high tide to fully combo off
@@b2e297 I just read something similar a couple comments down after I posted this comment. Still, thanks for the insight.
It definitely sounds more interesting than I first anticipated.
It's a good day when I have out Uyo, Silent Prophet and copy high tide 2 times 😆 lots of mana
The counterwar was so sweet and so mindblowing xD
I could never be mad about a Barren Glory win.
Smothering Tithe is MVP of this game that's for sure holy crap that's a lot of treasures
Leyline a close second though.
Thanks for showing one of these patron cards. I’m planning to make a rat tribal deck using Patron of the Nezumi, so it was nice to see one of these, even if it didn’t do well in this instance .
Wasn't my best peformance with her sadly, but thats what happens when you keep slow hands lol
@@brandonfrew3221 feels bad man.
@@brandonfrew3221 I saw the decklist but I still have no idea how that deck is supposed to win... Can you explain?
There are multiple ways of winning in my Patron deck
The main one that happens the easiest is Omniscience + Enter the Infinite + Jace, weilder of Mysteries
Enter allows me to draw my library, I play jace then what ever spells I want to draw some cards and win off the static ability of the planeswalker
Another way I can win is using some of the moonfolk who's abilities are actually useful
1 moonfolk who's name escapes me allows me to mill players for 2 cards, to use its ability i have to bounce 1 or 2 lands back to my hand, Patrons ability let's me replay those lands, although the Enter tapped, which is where Amulet of Vigor comes in, untapping anything that enters tapped
With these pieces assembled I can Infinitly bounce and replay lands to mill everybody
There's a few more Infinite combos in the deck but they don't outright win me the game
That was glorious! Love that Zedruu deck!
Finally a video footage of tstorms abomination! Today was a good day
Every day is the day I wish Syr Gwyn was as good as Chulane
Same, why is she so expensive and slow, compared to Chulame.
The real question is why is chulane so clearly overtuned. Who thought of that abomination
@@koelkast9 You have to ask that question when Oko and Questing beast made U/G stupidly powerful in that same set.
I have a Patron of the moon and by far the most common combo I do is moonfolk + patron + talisman of vigor and some landfall trigger like hedron crab, it's quite slow so you aways need to have a really fast start or control really well the board so you can win with it
That is the most nutty Zedruu deck I've ever seen.
On alter sleeves, do they have inner sleeves that'll "change" the border of your cards.
I want to see more of this Ramos mutate deck, is there a decklist available?
I've got a zedruu deck and i use temporal cascade but haven't ever used it to draw 14 cards (+ creating 56 treasures) with a bonus round into a game winning combo. interesting on how different the same cards can play out in different decks
Mind you, Temporal Cascade is also often used in my deck as a mass discard outlet to the Barren Glory combo line (instead of the Nahiri's Wrath that was used in the video).
Is there an updated Zedruu deck? The link is broken in the description 😅
Crack back or not, if you can destroy a smothering tithe you don't hesitate...
With that starting hand, I was expecting Chulane to win on turn 4 or 5.
That Smothering Tithe art is so good!
A fellow fan of Miyazaki? :)
Yes! I'm now thinking about what else from any of the movies would fit with some cards I play.
All Commanders Are Some Of My Favs, Chulane Isn't A Commander It Is An Abomination
THE GOAT
That final turn tho...
Oof that goblin intro... Feels like 2015 youtube again
Big Boy Brandon with that three days grace tatoo
Can someone walk me through that wincon? It looked so interesting, but was a bit confusing.
He had infinite mana and the ability to bounce all his permanents back to hand, with mana floating casts barren glory then discards his entire hand to nahiri's wrath which alpha strikes the board of creatures. Starts his extra turn with no hand or permanents other than barren glory meeting the conditions for the alternate wincon
I am not 100% sure on this, but I will try. Nikos activated Mirror of Fate with Rest in Peace on the battlefield. So instead of every card in their library going to the graveyard, they went into exile. This allowed Niko to pick 7 cards from their entire deck to put back into their library. Because Mirror of Fate also goes to exile due to Rest in Peace, Niko can now essentially take infinite turns with the Mirror constantly putting Temporal Mastery back on top of their library from exile. Once that loop is established they can then use Leave//Chance to return each permanent they control back to their hand except for Barren Glory. Once no other permanents are on Niko's battlefield other than Barren Glory, the enchantment will trigger, winning them the game. The Nahiri's Wrath line was actually a miss-play as I don't think it can target players, but it didn't matter since Barren Glory won the game as well.
Basically, it is a 4-card combo with Temporal Mastery, Mirror of Fate, Rest in Peace and something that gives you +2 card draws per turn (Zedruu, Font of Mythos, etc). You play Temporal Mastery (exiles itself). You have an extra turn. Mirror of Fate get sacrificed with Rest in Peace in play (Mirror gets exiled). You put on top Temporal Mastery, Mirror of Fate, and whatever cards you want to draw next. Next time you draw, you draw the Temporal Mastery (miracle), Mirror and whatever cards you put behind them. Play the Mirror, sac the Mirror and basically you have infinite turns and you can draw (and play) your entire deck. Next, I play Leave//Chance to bounce all my permanents (I had all my mana floating), cast Barren Glory and discard my entire hand with Nahiri's wrath targeting whatever creatures were in play. I pass the turn to myself and win with Barren Glory. There were some permanents in play that made the combo a bit more complicated (namely my Mindmoil), but we have already established that my opponents were out of responses and it would have been easy for me to just re-cast Zedruu (tonnes of treasures) before the combo and just gift the Mindmoil. I just went straight for the winning line for saving time.
@@nikos731 That's awesome, thanks for explaining.
@@nikos731 I see you are using some of the tech from Zedruu GOAT on MTG Salvation. Its my favorite deck and to see it pop off was amazing. TY so much
Never been this early to a video
I am a simple man. I see GOAT -> Upvote. And the win was just beautiful!
No Chulane list?
When you cast beast whisperer I think you draw off of his effect, at least that's what it sounded like when I looked it up.
Of course you don't. He's not even on the board for the effect.
@@jacket2848 that makes sense, but when I look it up that's what it says so idk
funny how you didn't mention Nikos playing a Nykthos
I didn't want to over do it.
@@MTGMuddstah yeah I got it, low hanging fruit :D
BARREN GLORY?? Lol what a win…
Nikos should have been choosing to skip main faze. He had flash speed, it doesnt matter if you get a main phase or not.
Good point!
He'd loose land drop if Nicos doesnt care for combat that's better
@@Someone-lg6di lol with the amount of treasures he had I don’t think lands mattered a whole lot
If you pull off a win through barren glory, you are a god. Case closed.
Agreed!
Μπραβο ρε Νικο
Ευχαριστώ. :)
I bought Chulane months ago but haven't made him. Not due to procastination though, I just understand how ridiculous he is and it isn't fun to watch somebody play solitaire( I feel bad enough with korvald). Chulane lets you time warp every time you cast a creature essentially in the sense of drawing an extra card and dropping an extra land.
imagine designing chulane and thinking “yes, this is fine”
They probably thought "yes, this will sell", or even (stupidly) "yes, this is going to get people to play Brawl instead of Commander".
That was the craziest turn of edh i've ever seen
Why did Brandon announce he’s skipping combat it’s only opponents that have to choose
Sometimes you just have to let you opponents know that you mean them no harm.
Fatespinner wouldn’t have triggered on Brandon’s turn as it’s only for opponents (I know it had no impact)
Can we get an Urza lord high artificer game?
I actually don't know many people who play Urza! I'll see what I can find once I can film in shops again.
@@MTGMuddstah do you still play in New Jersey stores?
As told by Zedruu...♥️
Phasing out doesn't cause you to lose tokens, so Nikos should still have their treasures after casting Teferi's Protection
I think the treasures were used to pay for Teferi's Protection.
7:45 "and Brandon announces that he'll skip combat" ??? But he doesn't have to skip anything?
Gow is playing with both OG duals and thriving lands??? *what*
if it works it works, however, thriving lands have been taken out
If he threatened me, I would've gone after him. Yeah, my Trygon Predator is totally coming for that Tithe.
I don't negotiate with terrorists. >:)
Smothering Tithe was a mistake.
A barren glory win? ... In EDH?! WITCHCRAFT!!!
9:30 This doesn't actually work. He can't gain control of two spells while only giving one creature away.
I actually gave them my Zedruu with the 2nd copy of Sudden Substitution. It was just a slight narration error. :)
@@nikos731 Ohh I see, thanks for clarifying
That chulane deck should throw in like a village bell ringer and all the shrieking and cards like it! Makes it super easy to churn for cards you actually need! He's my most competitive deck I always like watching games with him
oh that’s a good idea! thank you for the advice
@@gow6143 totally! I loved the deck! GG! Seemed like you were one turn away!
Gow was upside and zedruu is just a bad deck on webcam
I realized that only AFTER I declared Zedruu as my deck of choice. The fact that Andrew had a Zedruu deck of his own, mitigated the effect a liiiitle bit (he has some of the same permanents in his possession, like Howling Mine, Pentad Prism, etc).

That was some sweet justice against Chulane and a really cool way to win from Zedruu. Kinda deserved that ending when Chulane goes off drawing cards while a Smothering Tithe is on the battlefield.
Edit: Did Niko target opponents with Nahiri's Wrath? I thought it could only hit creatures and planeswalkers.
Good catch! But it doesn't really matter, he would have easily been able to wipe their boards and win with the enchantment on his upkeep
No, I just discarded my hand with Nahiri's Wrath targetting whatever creature on board and pass the turn to myself for Barren Glory. The same result can be done with Temporal Cascade (shuffling all hands and gy into their owner's libraries). It is actually preferable most of the time since you can strip your opponents from possible interactions.
I said to myself. Chulane gets another turn and he'll probably win.
I might've been right.
Gow was too greedy
you right you right
