- A force of nature.
Midst is an audio drama in which three mischievous narrators spin a surreal, reality-bending, sci-fantasy space western about a crotchety outlaw, a struggling cultist, and a diabolical bastard making awful decisions in a world on the edge of disaster.

I beg your *FUCKING* pardon?!
Best part of this comment is that it can be said exactly 3 times throughout the entire episode.
Same.
My reaction was a little less lengthy. But none the less surprised...Oh Fuck!
mood
I swear this is my only reaction to Midst episodes at this point
Lol, Imelda going Blah blah blah blah blah in the background at the end was wonderful.
WHO ARE YOU KING TRIANGLE
A TEARROR
@@lauraviniconis3006oh shit that’s a good theory
I finally understand why the Baron's theme is like that.
That woman is a war engine.
What is her theme, anyway? Is it on CZcams?
@@kp6378 its the track at the start of the episode with the electric bass and distortion
@@TartarusHimself Right, but is there a way to listen to that track specifically? Like who is the composer, and what is it called?
@@kp6378it's composed by one of the narrators. They have it up to download if you subscribe on their website but it's not on CZcams anywhere
@@kp6378It’s composed by them and available to the people that join the Fold in the extras section.
Adding this episode to my “Moc Weepe has been Maximillian Loxlee the whole time” conspiracy board
OH SHOOT YOU MIGHT BE ONTO SOMETHING. I hadn't even considered a board, but now I need a board!!!!!
this!!!!
I don't know if Moc himself is Maximillian... but there's a similar rattling sound whenever both Weep and Lark's inner fold grows or is extracted. Perhaps they share an inner demon named Loxlee.
Or maybe they just have similar sounds because Lark's infection was from using Moc's blood for her glove? So they'd ultimately have the same source?
Wait what?! Like hearing it makes sense now but you already had this on the board? Moc and Max are hardly tied together on my board. Please do explain at the very least what episode caused this connection.
No but like you might be onto something because he mentions that Imelda doesn't recognize him MEANING THAT SHE KNOWS HIM FROM PREVIOUSLY
Listened to this on audio already and a couple things
Cozma is a fucking badass
WHAT WAS THAT LAST LINE
Came here for this!
I have access to the early episodes (paid) but apparently I didn’t listen to the WHOLE thing until yesterday, because I did not catch that last part at all.
Right??? Like, my favorite character said that?? What does that even mean?!
I guess it means that 1. Moc Weepe is an alias, and 2. Lazlo knew Weepe before he made the alias and probably before he got infected with the fold.
@@christenh359Have you watched today’s two days ahead? All I can say… wow.
This episode made me gasped twice. The Baroness is a badass And the last sentence as absolutely amazing. I am so stoked of where this is going.
Big same! What does that ending mean!!!!!!!!!!
I did too mostly at the last several words. Holy crap this is getting so good.
Man, that last line has got me hanging on the edge of my seat!
WHAT????
Also, Baron Kozma Laszlo slaaaaaayed!
The change on their faces when she said I AM THE BREACH was priceless!
Knowing how The Trust operates, that's effectively a declaration of war. Which it essentially was.
Weepe "a skeleton wrapped in a translucent jello skin" - what an amazing image conjured up even without the beautiful artwork.
okay the expression changes in the art though-the way Hieronymous's face got nervous before everybody else, the subtle (and not-so-subtle) changes in the faces of the staff, the way Hieronymous is the only one looking away from the table and Kozma is looking in his direction, AAHHHH.
also, WHAT. WHAT. WHAT.
The soup didn't deserve all the strays it caught 😂
Is anyone else worried about the storm that they've been mentioning for the last few episodes?
definitely something go on with that.
Yes, very much so. I think that's going to be what causes Phineas to fall like we see in the opening of Season 3. I think the Un is about to go into a spiral.
This doesn't necessarily mean that it was Kozma who did it. Maybe she simply chose to use the incident to her advantage to corner the Trust.
Yes, there was a whole lot of "yeah, I'm prepared to be the villain of your story so, sure, why not" energy to it.
I completely agree, I don't think she blew up the moon, she just jumped on the occasion to gain leverage. That would be why she is so vague in her threats and doesn't give any details on how she did it. Plus i want to believe she wouldn't endanger the people she's claiming to protect so blatantly, but maybe I'm being naive. The only weakness in this theory is that it doesn't explain why she would suddenly be selling midst. Maybe she did know the moon was about to blow up anyway?
Did you notice that Cosma Laslo just threatened everyone in the exact same way Weep did to Concord back in season 1?
Yes! So glad I'm not alone in seeing that and there's no way that's an accident
Wait, refresh my memory, which threats matched?
@@feduckil9238 "if you f* with me I'm gonna f*ING kill you" or something close to that
LETS GO COSMA!! finally someone with guts
"Except for midst" XD
"Ok, let's just dial up the crazy to 11". This episode tldr. Seriously though, what is up with Lazlo destroying the moon (and by extension, killing a ton of innocents and mutating others) to bankrupt the trust? Is she looking to just nip them into place as she said or is this a play at conquest? And what is up with Weepe and Imelda? We know Imelda still has secrets, she somehow knew to "foldify" Weepe into his current self and that needs to be explained as well as how she knew he'd make the perfect dictator once it happened. And Weepe no longer being himself is a Very Big Can of worms.
I think the narrators refering to Moc Weepe not being Moc Weepe, is part of his history before the series started. I belief this due to Moc only knowing Kozma by writing letters thus never needing to see her. Was he in his former pale form, she might recognize him for the person who he really is.
My theory is that this was all part of weepe's plan, one way or another, from what I see, Weepe made himself "vunerable" to Imelda and pretended to play right into her hands, let her think she had him on the ropes, but in actuality, he has been behind the wheel all this time.
Also, I don't think "he no longer is himself", it seems Weepe never was, or was a long time ago, but this Weepe, whoever he is, got rid of OG Weepoe, and is now parading on his proverbial skin. The next part might include spoilers, so, viewer discretion is advised
If I had to bet, I'd wager that this Weepe we see now is actually the old Loxley, whom Lark killed, or thought she did. It could be a stretch, but so far, this is what I believe
Imelda didn't know to foldify weepe. She merely locked him in a room and forced him to agree to her terms. She didn't want him to foldify, but her conviction to her cult is what caused the foldifying. Only thing she knew was he had a condition and used it as leverage.
@@yankandhay1912 oh yeah, I have the same guess here! Rrreeally excited about how it all will turn out.
@@RadicalbeastPretty sure during the process that when Spahr tried to stop her she said something about how she was doing a bad thing but she had calculated what the result would be etc.
What, sorry, the hell?
This episode is gonna go down as one of the best in the season. Those reveals!
New Favorite Episode. New Favorite Character. Cozma fanclub member. And also... WHAT?!?!?! Seriously this show is perfection.
What the actual...... I JUST picked my jaw up after what Laslo said, and then you end with THAT line?!?!
You guys are masters of your craft!!!!!
10 seconds in when they once again say: "except for Midst" that's when I figured it out 😅
Okay, so please help me, or anybody else: What did u figure out? Because it seems im about the only one here who cant put 1+1 together. :(
Pls, somebody, anybody help me out here
@@vimes7124 I think they meant that they realized that she was responsible for the desctruction of Midst's Moon, and subsequently Midst, to some extent
At best you can say it's foreshadowing the significance, but it really doesn't imply that the baron was responsible
@BarneyDesmond I mean, who else could it have been? The named characters on Midst were out of position, the Trust would have had no motivation to tank the asset they'd just acquired (maybe in a decade or two, if it depreciated to the point where it's destruction could be spun into a net gain for the Trust), and none of them had any clue what was going on regardless. So we needed a 3rd party, one with influence over Midst but who wasn't embroiled in any of the happenings on the ground. Enter Kozma Lazslo, with means, motive, opportunity, and a fire soundtrack. Sometimes the simple answer is the correct one.
@@Landis963 a fair point, unless they were gonna pull something completely random outta their butt (though that's not something Midst really does). I'm glad it happened this way, we get her absolutely fire soundtrack
... Cosma is taking advantage of someone else's radio silence...
And Tripotentiary...
So, Do you think an as yet unrevealed party is responsible for the moon going BooM? And that Cozma is just saying it was her as a power play?
I'm now a fan of the theory that Moc Weepe is a cover for the fake dead Maxximillian Loxley. It seems a lot of the trust don't recognize him on their *first* meetings.
My jaw hit the floor three separate times during this episode. This one is a really incredible one-- And the art is spectacular!! The posing, expressions, and scene changes are all masterfully done. What a wonderful serious to be tagging along with 🙌
Also the audio actually going "blah blah blah" at 18:00 is HILARIOUS
I can't believe it's taken me this long to wonder who Weepe was before being affected by the tearror and becoming the guy we all know
Oh wow, what an episode! i keep quoting "someone next to Spahr" - what the fuuuuuuck?", did it at least twice this episode :D
Which episode was that quote from?
@@EchoesFromCornWeepe's reveal to the public one, IIRC
Kozma was already like my fave character. Now she REALLY is my fave character. Omg she's SO COOL! How have we gone 3 seasons to get to KOZMA!? I want the next story set in this world just about the shit Kozma gets up to, if only to hear her theme more. It fucking rules!
Weepe isn't who he says? Whaaaat?????
The art for this episode is AMAZING! Weepe looks so good! Kosma looks so good! The part where their expressions change in the middle! Absolutely incredible. And the dialogue! Weepe meeting Kosma is something I've been so excited for, the moment we met her I felt she was surely one of Weepe's idols or something like that. What does that last line mean???? Argh, so good!
Kozma Laszlo's theme will never not slap
I am the Breach is such a powerful line!
Omg the Baron is even cooler than i thought!!!
Also, WHAT. My husband and i spent several minutes with our gueses for that twist we did not see coming.
Amazing job third person!!
What the what now!?!?!
You tellers are SMASHING it, as usual.
I am soooo looking forward to Weepe going eldritch horror on a bunch of people. Let his void lead us and swallow the enemies, void for the void god
Do you really think the void god needs more void? I presume they'd have enough.
That last line was so damn ominous... Can't wait for next week!
Oh man am I looking forward to more of this! And love that beginning theme music! I'm actually enjoying Midst a little bit more than Critical Role now. Probably because the episodes are shorter and always end with great cliffhangers making you want more.
Ok, two guesses on what that last line means:
1. Weepe is now some sort of Fold-sentient being after Imelda fucked with him
2. Moc Weepe was always a fake name for someone else, and the real person who goes by Weepe has some crazy ulterior motives about controlling the world.
Well "Weepe" did look different before he got hit by the Fold, so there is a good chance he worked for/with Kozma and maybe got betrayed by being hit by a tearor resulting in his new appearance
There's a fan theory about Weepe going around, don't click read more unless you want to see it.
The theory is that Weepe is actually Maximilian Loxley. He survived the incident with Llarc, but went into hiding due to his disfigurements. Weepe said a couple episodes ago that his original condition was due to an incident with Fold safe lightbulbs, and that's how Llarc "killed" Loxley. Also, Loxley's relationship dynamic with Llarc's mom sounds a lot like Weepe's relationship dynamic with Saskia.
@@fire_dog220 this is my theory indeed😃😃
But what about the part "she doesn't recognize him, she still thinks..." that tell me that whoever is purporting to be Moc Weepe is someone Kozma used to know.
I wish I could put that meme with Mal from Firefly sitting at the table on here, because that is exactly how that last sentence left me.
Every week you guys surprise me by making the episode better than the last. I know when this series is sadly over I will binge listen to again and again.
God, I'm kinda in love Cozma! This was such a good episode.
That amazing theme. Just so heavy. Such a fan. One of my favorites so far!
She was my favorite character before. But now she is the best. You know who.
Last thing. I promise " Bla Bla Bla Bla " So great.
Best episode ever, that was absolutely brilliant! Excellent cliffhanger
My favorite trope is when someone cuts through the bull of politics and directly addresses the elephant in the room. I love Cozmo now
No, don't you dare leave on that kind of cliffhanger!
20 minutes per episode is not nearly enough of what I need to hear each week!!!!! c'mon!!! this is amazing
Favorite part of the episode? Imelda going "blah blah blah" in the background lol
Cosma Lazlo doesn't have BE. She IS BDE. And I'm here for it 😂
Cosma Lazlo, the scariest woman in the room. Are you in a room? Then she is THE SCARIEST WOMAN IN THAT ROOM
"I AM the breach"
*Blink*...*Blink*... Excuse me?!
Admittance to the moon, what?!
"Your new king triangle?"
*flail*
...WAAAHT? Is he someone else? Did Kozma know him before his original tearor transformation?! Just, WHAT?!?!
That is my theory, that she knew him before and left him for dead, making Moc Weepe a cover.
I comment this like every time, but seriously MIDST is sooooooo good. The storytelling is just incredible!
How very tense in the opening. I love Baron Laszlo
The expression change was immaculate. ALL those bulging eyes and Kozma's smirk, marvelous
Okay, this has got to be my favorite episode of the season so far. From all the reveals that were dropped, questions we now have and the fact that the Baron doesn't fuck around just sells it for me.
Now I wonder... does the description of 'A Force of Nature' apply not only to the Baron, but what's going on inside Weepe's head?
Hyeronomus moving eyes and sweating as soon as Kozma started to talk about the Breach- DID YOU HELP HER BLOW UP THE MOON?! DO YOU KNOW PEOPLE DIED, MY GUY?!!
I mean don't get me wrong, Kozma Laszlo is really cool, but I'm not a huge fan of doing stuff that put people at risk, even if it was tp get back at the Trust
ALSO WHAT WAS THE LINE, THE HECK YOU MEAN BY THAT WEEPE
I'm not convinced that Kozma Laszlo really did/ordered all those things like the breach operations and the destruction of midsts moon. She might just be bluffing for her own benefit.
Bold of you to assume she's not bluffing about the moon to make herself look scarier.
@@Frostbite08 could be! But Hyronomus' tense figure in the whole dinner makes me suspicious advsvs
@@VI_VA. I mean, possibly, but the answer could be a lot simpler: we know "Harry" works with the Breach. He could just be nervous because he knows she's telling the truth about the Breach being in "this very room".
I always wondered if The Third Person even know a baron is the lowest feudal rank possible
Baron in this context is used as the title for the 5 highest ranking officers of the Baronies United. It ain’t a feudal system, it’s a political and military alliance.
Plus it sounds cool.@@willcaster819
I love Kozma so much just for getting under everyone's skin and cutting to the chase. Unsure if she really was the one who blew up the moon or if she's taking the credit because it gives her the means to rattle the Trust (both are totally plausible and fantastic in their own ways). Interestingly, her phrasing in laying down her demands mirrors Weepe's when Atticus Concord was trying to make a false deal with the Black Candle ("if you...fuck with me, I'm gonna fuckin' kill you"). While it makes sense that Weepe is not who he claims to be, I'm interested in seeing just who he was to Kozma that he was especially happy not to be recognized by her. I'm also curious to know just how in tune he is with his own "spider web" and how that will come into play with his actions as King Triangle. So much to see!
this whole episode has been a series of wait... what wait WHAT DID YOU DO excuse me you did what?..... keep up the fantastic work
Well that ending was unexpectedly chilling..
I was so hoping it was Kozma that blew up the moon. I honestly can’t even bring myself to be mad at her for it, she’s a badass
First of all my mouth was hanging open at the end of the episode; that was an insane plot twist. Second, I love the animation in this one, the subtle changes in facial expression are so fitting.
*flips a table (in the best way possible) - you friggin did it again. I love you. So much tension.
Great, now I gotta wait a week...man.
OOOOh shit, you guys are killing me.
PAY ATTENTION to the side characters in this episode. Keep a mental note of how each of them react to the events of the scene; there is vital info there. Overlook nothing. Trust no one. Good luck.
I was trying to decide all episode if one of the Lazlo guards was phineas in disguise...
By "side characters" do you mean the guards and staff, or the named notaries and luminaries? And is this the sort of thing that can be picked up with audio-only, or is this something that needs the art?
@@Landis963 By "side characters", I refer to anyone who isn't Weepe himself. Though the artwork serves as a visual aid, all narrative secrets are found in the audio as well as the appendixes. (All Midst art is fanart, as the narrators have gone on record stating in the Midst Messages episodes. There is no true single vision of Midst, as the version in your brain is the truest form)
@@elfietheespeon9462 (Fleit was suspiciously non-reactive to Laszlo's bluster - is that an example of the sort of thing you're talking about?)
Nowhere but on Midst!
Very intense. I love you guys.
Looking forward to when it is ALL revealed and going back and listening to every episode and every moment a crumb was dropped.
THAT LAST LINE
I KNEW COSMA(sp) WAS GONNA BE FUN WHEN SHE POPPED INTO THINGS, HOLY SHIT YES!!!
Omg! So many story bombs fell on us in one episode! Need to process this now lol
This show is a goddamn masterpiece
WHAT??? This is the last season, you can't open up MORE MYSTERIES!!!
The sheer level of badass Laslo has achived
Wait what? That last sentence got me…
Yet another tense and dramatic episode!!! Aaaaa I just wonder if Kozma is actually behind the moon blowing up, or if she's just taking an opportunity in front of her
And EXCUSE ME with that last line 👀 Wednesdays can't come any faster!!
AH!!! I CANT WAIT TIL NEXT WEEK!! Do we know how many episodes this last season will be?
I cannot put into words the level of brainfucking that last line just inflicted on me...
Ooooohohohohohoho… This. Is. Getting. _GOOD!_
I mean, it was good before, don’t get me wrong, but now it’s getting downright _juicy._ I am now - more than usual - DYING to figure out where this is gonna go next.
Also, I fucking love Kozma. Like, she’s terrible, obviously (assuming she’s not lying about the moon being her fault just to gain an upper hand in negotiations), but just the sheer audacity and fucking coolness she has going on is rivaling Lark.
Also, also, it just occurred to me that Weepe (if that _is_ his real name, which, oh my god that’s a whole ‘nother thing) knew about the breach by virtue of helping run the cabaret. There is a chance, albeit small, that he knows Hieronymus is in on it too, especially if his history with the Baron meant he was also privy to whatever involvement with the Breach she had. God, this one episode has opened so many cans of worms it’s practically overflowing with them, and I love it.
They eye's and facial expressions are top notch for this episode. Super telling. Also, who the $% is Moc Weepe now? King Triangle, wtf? Wait... maybe he's "the fold" acting as a person?
When I was in high school, we were given a “drug exam” that anonymously asked us questions about our recreational drug usage.
Multiple choice questions about what drugs we did or didn’t use and how often. Cozma was a possible answer on a lot of the questions.
A fake drug to weed out the people that were just pretending like they did all of the drugs.
I love this name because of its fond connection to my childhood. And fictional drugs.
.....What? _What??!!_ ....Who... who *is* that, then...? 😬 It may be the final chapter, but it still packs as much of a wallop as the first!😮
Amazing episode
Kozma rocks more than I thought she would, huh.
God. I can't wait to see where this is going, since both the Baron and the Tripotentiary are completely underestimating the other party. One or both of them are about to make a severe mistake.
Also, I'm significantly more wary of Baron Kozma now, since she blew up the moon apparently knowing it would kill people (innocents) and didn't seem to care. I agree that the Trust needs to be taught a lesson, but that calamity was not the lesson I would have used.
ahh i knew there was a reason why i loved, (totally not a rougue trader) cosmo Lazuo the moment i met her.
I need that Kozma laszlo theme so bad !
It's available for fold members now, along with two more episodes!
Looking like he does, why would Moc Weepe think someone who knew him however long ago would recognise him?
Can I please just get Kozma Lazlo's theme music as a standalone piece? It goes so hard.
If you join the fold (paid subscriber) you get it.
I love these so much
"Still believes..." I'm sorry, WHAT!?
Mmm... a wineglass, a lightning strike, and Baron Kozma F**king Laszlo's pumping theme music in the background. It's going to be a good episode.
And it didn't disappoint. Congratulations to those of us who called the first twist. And oh my goodness, the implications of the second.
Yeah, you tell 'em, Kozma!
...
No... it couldn't be...
Kozma, no!
NICE!!! What a twist
