    Top notch BMAC VAGS...wish I lived next door to you...love to hang out and absorb some of your knowledge. You've saved me tons of cash with my 2002 VW Bora TDI. Look forward to more VW vids. Cheers dude!

    Great step by step demo. Need this type of education when your not doing this on a daily basis. Cheers
    What about fault code P1236 on the same car/engine.

    I hit a deer and broke that front egr valve. My engine acts like I am flooring it. Is that what is causing it?

    Hi I have a Honda civic 2.2 diesel different engine to what is in the video it only has 1 egr valve. I have p1401 engine light on (it only comes on at idle, I can reset it and it won't come on untill I come to a stop and leave it idling) seen a few of your videos. How do I test as I've cleaned the egr and it still comes back on. Any help appreciated

    Good video, but please don't laugh and say "that I did what any good mechanic would do" when you're putting gaffa tape on an Air Intake Pipe that has perished at a point that is post Air Flow Meter / IAT.
    Only a cowboy or someone who does not understand Air / Fuel Ratio's would do such a thing.
    You could have cleaned the sections and used Super Glue or Epoxy Resin to bond it back together, or just replaced the damn thing as the Engine is never going to attain Smooth Running Idle the way it is.
    Even if it feels like it's running smooth, Live Data will confirm that it's under fuelled.
    I know you're better than that........
    Edit made to let you know that I've given you a thumbs up as usual.

    • @BMACVAGS
      @BMACVAGS  Před 5 lety +3

      I appreciate the thumbs up and taking the time to comment. The "good mechanic" comment was one in jest, I was in a tight situation and needed to make sure that all of the problems had been solved. The pipe seemed quite soft and degraded, super glue was far too rigid of a compound and I had nothing else to fix it. The ductile was a simple logical thing to use considering the circumstances. Its blocked the holes and gave the perished pipe some support until the new part came.
      I don't quite understand your comment about about the engine showing under fuelled. If all holes and vacuum leaks are sealed, why would live data show up as being under fuelled?

      I know that you were making a joke.
      I've watched all of your videos, you do know what you're doing.
      FYI:
      Any Intake Pipe that is loose or has a slit / hole / tear positioned after the Air Flow Meter will affect the Air / Fuel Ratio of the engine.
      This occurs because the ECU is dosing the Fuel Injection in accordance to how many liters of Air is entering through the Intake System and what temperature the Air is at when it's entering.
      Duct Tape on a ribbed Pipe will not give a true seal, no way.
      Therefore, even at Idle, the ECU has a miscalculation, because extra Air is entering the Intake Manifold, probably at a hotter temperature too, which it has not taken into account in order to determine the true Smooth Running Idle Compensation.
      The ECU may revert to the O2 Sensor or Barometric Pressure Sensor and try to compensate, but it will result in power fluctuations and MPG efficiency.
      Short & Long Term Fuel Trim Data will show you the actual difference between this Pipe and a decent Pipe.

    • @BMACVAGS
      @BMACVAGS  Před 5 lety +1

      @@ukcitizen1158 I promise you, the amount of duct tape that I used there is no way that pipe is leaking any air. Although I do know that in a perfect world replacement is the correct way. Its also important to remember that many people who watch my videos do not always have the facilities or resources to repair their cars to dealership levels. So it is good to know stop gap solutions that can get them out of trouble. Thank. you for your comments, I really appreciate the dialogue.
