    Mate this is one of the best videos i've seen on this process. I'm tempted to sell my e46 because i dont want to pay someone to do the job, but this video alone is convincing me to give it a crack myself. just need to find someone who can weld

      Thank you so much. 🙏 that makes me happy to hear. It’s not as bad as it looks to get the rear out. I reckon I could do it in about 1/2 hour if I did it again, minus fuel tank. You could just hire a welder for a weekend and spend some time practicing on metal before. But if you remove it all and prep the surface it may be better to hire a fabricator to do it.

    Jesus Christ mate. I think you picked just the right moment, one more even and she would have shat that subframe out!
    I’ve got a welded 3.15 in my coupe daily, only really do the odd wet skid but I will 100% be doing this before I start drifting in anger.
    There’s a chap here in UK that does it inc poly bushes for £800!
    Not worth me getting may hands dirty tbh.

    How is the reinforcemnt holding up

      Solid as a rock now. Especially with the X Brace 😀

    Could you in theory fix the back left one by cutting a hole through above in the floor and then putting plates between the bushing and the thing that holds it above that has been torn out? I saw someone do the same and then they didn’t have to remove the subframe, and they said it was much easier cuz u can reach the bushing bolt without removing the subframe

    • @BertusBuilds
      @BertusBuilds  Před rokem

      🙏thanks for the feedback. As long as there’s enough surface area of reinforced to the chassis in some way anything is possible. But if your going to do anything other than daily driving it I’d be reinforcing the whole lot.

      @@BertusBuilds it’s going to be a drift car, exactly like yours lol, 323ci 2000, I’m thinking just to do this as a temporary fix, put a plat from above maybe one from below and maybe another one above that’s big to make sure it doesn’t rip out again, and then put the X bar since I’ll eventually need a full cage, or just a full cage eventually or if it breaks again, but you think some plates from above and maybe one from below will work for now while I’m still new to drifting?

    • @codskilclanchannel6420
      @codskilclanchannel6420 Před rokem

      @@BertusBuilds by that I mean like fully weld a wide plate in from above by cutting the floor out, to basically cover the whole area that was ripped out and then some more, then put a hole in it for the bolt to go through as a temporary fix until I get my cage or X bar

    • @BertusBuilds
      @BertusBuilds  Před rokem

      Any kind of repair/reinforcement will be batter than it broken or cracked. I just depends on how long it lasts. There are some kits that mainly brace from the boot/trunk side. I think one is called a Vince Bar

      @@BertusBuilds yea I have heard of it, I saw you put a x bar in the back that connects to the struts, that should also work correct? Or I’ve seen some cages that are made to connect to all 4 mounts as well

    • @BertusBuilds
      @BertusBuilds  Před 2 lety +1

      Super easy. 3 bolts hold it in. 2 fuel line in front and just unplug from the top. I had about a 1/4 tank when I did it.

    • @BertusBuilds
      @BertusBuilds  Před 2 lety +2

      @@tolgac9975 No, just disconnect the fuel line and return line where they just start to bend up to go to the fuel tank, (2x hose clamps) Just blank off the exposed fuel lines or loop them to each other with some spare hose once the tank is out.
