My favourite city, perhaps place, on earth. I came to Thailand not expecting to spend more than a week in Chiang Mai, 8 weeks on and I am still here. I have totally fell in love with the city, the people, the food.. everything! Not to mention, I have made some amazing friends that live here, too.
I couldn't agree with you more my friend! Even though I have only had the opportunity to visit Bangkok and Chiang Mai, the latter most definitely was the highlight of my time and still to this day my all time favourite destination! The spirituality, the vibe, the energy, the natural landscapes, just utterly glorious in every way!
I really enjoy Thai food and your look at the food was wonderful. Such delicious flavors. The beautiful scenery and waterfalls are gorgeous. Watch out for the rain.

I visited Chiangmai in September my first time in Thailand and it is an amazing place to visit, and I saw some of the Tribes they all have their own cultures and their own languages but can also speak Thai, I saw the Karen’s which Thai people call them long necks became of the rings they wear around their necks all the women do even young girls was wearing them, it a tradition that they have kept through generations. The local street food anywhere in Thailand is the best, and if anyone likes the temples try Chiang Ria which is not far from Chiangmai and it has a huge white temple. I’m coming back to Thailand again next year, not sure whereabouts but I can’t wait and recommend it to anyone, Thailand is a place you can easily fall in love with.

@@BangkokJack858 my girlfriend is Thai so we traveled across north Thailand to the Laos border and then to Lampang and then to Kampang Pet to her home town, it was the best trip I’ve had.
Chiang Mai is a bit of a tourist Mecca. I have been there twice and never really felt I got the place. It's very pleasant though, and I took a trek back in 1999 which felt pretty fake back then. the highlight is defintiely when on treks being able to swim! thanks for a great vid!
Worst time to go during February! So much burning and pollution. Why don't you mention reality. I was just there this week. Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Phuket are becoming the same. I spent a few days in Mae Kampong Village and it's becoming not so peaceful anymore.
@@Xylo58 I just stayed in Moon Dragon hotel. It's near Thapae Gate in the old town, had a pool and the rooms were quite nice. Was around 800 baht per night so very good value for money. The windows were a bit thin so was a little noisy at night but that's my only complaint
CM is such a good all around place, any kind of food, and so many enclaves within the greater city, great medical and dental facilities as well, lots of expats and retirees love it for all those reasons…and…many night markets makes Christmas shopping a half hour affair 🙏🏻👍🏻🇹🇭
That's a good point! I'd never really heard of the dental and medical facilities being good, I'd assumed they weren't very good outside of BKK, but that must just be my BKK prejudice. How long have you lived in Chiang Mai?
@@BangkokJack858 don’t live there permanently yet but have gone once, twice, or thrice per year since 2010..have done some medical visits and they were excellent..I share a house where I can keep my bike, guitar, clothes, etc

It will probably be a bit tricky to do by yourself. I would recommend using a day tour, they will pick you up from your hotel and have a full day planned for you including some things you would not know about on your own
Another suggestion if you want a good tour of Chiangmai hire a Tuk Tuk driver for a couple of days they know all the good places to visit, on of my highlights was the Tiger Kingdom they actually let me stroke a white tiger, that was an experience I will never forget.
That is a good suggestion. One thing to note though is that if you were able to stroke the tiger that probably means the tiger was up to its eyeballs in drugs. Tigers don't let people stroke them lol
I was surprised that you recommended visiting any month without mentioning the burning season. Feb-March is the worst of it, but it can start getting bad in January.
It's seams right if you visit the sleeping Princess cave since that new film is on prime ( thirteen lives ) not many vloggers visit there because of what happened
I believe it was Ban Mae Klang Luang, near Doi Inthanon. There are probably 50 different village that you could visit though. This one was quite nice though

We Northern Thai called ourselves as “Khon Mueang” (คนเมือง) or “Tai Yuan” (ไท ยวน) and Northern Thai people aren’t considered as ethnic minority. And the background photo you used here is actually a Khmer/Cambodian temple which is not relevant to Northern Thai people. In fact Northern Thailand is the region that has the least ancient Khmer influence throughout the country. Next ethnic group that you mentioned is Karen people. However the background image you used here is actually a “Kayan people” or “the long neck Karen.” They are different from majority Karen people in Thailand but related.
A friend went to live there with his wife and they love it, they tell me to move there as well, but what about the smoky season, and what about the language.... I’m thinking about Mexico as my final destination before I end up in the cemetery I’m done working day and night just to pay taxes
The smoky season is a problem for sure, if you don't have to work there though you can always just go stay down south on one if the islands for a few weeks. The language barrier isn't much of a problem. Most people in Chiang Mai speak some English

@@p.c.h.6721 it's not quite that bad. In rainy season it rains really heavily almost everyday for about an hour to an hour and a half. So there's still plenty of time you can be outside. The problem is predicting when it is going to rain ....

Here now. It's a dunghole. Hot, dusty, boring AF. The town reminds me the arse end of Patong, but without the world class beach across the road, and traffic as bad as Bangkok. Even cycling around on our MTBs is crap. Had a fab night glamping at Inthanon and hiking to the viewpoint, but Chaing Mai town itself is a dump. We were going to stay for Xmas but bollocks to that. Life is too short to waste any of it here.

Chiang Mai is second largest city in Thailand with 1,500,000 population(include non native citizens)

I love Chiang Mai, but I wouldn't advise anyone to go there between February and April, during the burning season.
