Your commentary had me and my Dad dying of laughter. Your analogies were so stupid and unique, yet so funny.

I know this ELR has long been sold, but the explanation of the modes is incorrect, so I will explain for people doing research for another one. The car does have an electric motor and gasoline engine, but it is propelled only by the electric motor. The gasoline engine spins a generator that creates the electricity to power the electric motor to propel the car. The gasoline engine does not propel the car. 'Tour' is the normal mode, the car runs on electric until depleted then the gasoline engine turns on to supply electricity to the electric motor. 'Sport' mode changes the acceleration so it is quicker off the line and very noticeable, when used correctly. In 'Mountain' mode the gasoline engine runs, to keep the battery at least half way charged. If it was previously depleted, the engine will run at higher RPM until the battery is half full, then it will maintain half level, to give electric boost as needed for hilly terrain. 'Hold' mode will start the gasoline engine to generate all the electric power for the electric motor, reserving battery power, for later when you want to keep the gasoline engine silent and off. At which time you switch to 'Tour', the engine cuts off, and you are total electric until the battery is depleted. Then the engine automatically starts, generating power for the electric motor. It is really the most practical way to ease your way into an electric car. They are fun to drive, and cheap to charge. Lots of places have free charge points. Great cars and a future collectible.

Great comment man. I just bought one this weekend and appreciate this info. I’m honestly pretty lost on the modes right now but I’ll keep this comment in mind for reference. Also where are the free charge points you mentioned? And if there are any other pieces of advice or tips you have please share if you don’t mind.

I always thought these were good looking cars. I remember seeing one for the 1st time pulling out of Dimmit Cadillac and was like oh wow what is that? Doesn't look like a plug in hybrid from the outside.
