I had a used one in high school and into college; my first car. 'Lemans blue, white racing stripes, 302 DZ, Muncie 4-speed, Hurst shifter, 4:56 rearend. It had been modified, and balanced and blueprinted; TRW 11:1 pop-up aluminum pistons, Crane Blazer cam; Blackjack headers; etc. When I got it I tweaked it a bit, and put a 125-shot NOS kit on it. We used to cruise the strip in Houston (Westheimer Rd.) on Friday and Saturday nights. My Texas personalized tag was, "LMN8R". Man, what good times! And, gas was less than a dollar.
The sound and power of a " 5.0 Litre " 302 Chevy is nothing less than incredible! I imagine what it would have been like to drive one off of the showroom floor and on to the streets ! Although the cars of today are so brutally powerful and fast, they will NEVER have the same effect as what those cars had ! 👍
That moment when that barracuda owner reslises that you're doing 80 mph in 1st gear and the gm factory gave you 4 forward moving gears, and the kicker is that with that 373 rear-end you still have plenty of room for acceleration before you have to shift up...
Sounds good. Is the transmission a Muncie 2.20 or a Borg warner Super T-10? , I remember driving a 69 Camero Z-28 302 back in 1977 and it pulled realy hard after 4000 rpm, it had the Muncie short throw shifter with 411's. Thanks for the video.
More sanctioned races were won by small block Chevys from 1955 to 1985 than all other manufacturers...combined,this was in hot rod magazine when I was in high school
Good for you, I,d rather ride a bike than drive one of those overrated z,s. If they were so fast how come you never hear about them.wasting Boss 302,s or Mach 1 s with 351,s . Cuz they were a pooch off the line and only came to life around 6000 rpm.
That sounds so good ❤
That's a great sounding Z/28.
Sounds great. I think I found my new ringtone.
Awesome sound of that 302 ! Really cool vid man, appreciate it.
Chambered exhaust love it!!!
Whoever is driving this car knows what they are doing. They've got it sounding incredible.

Yeah I agree. Seems like everything relies on a supercharger these days, it's cool and impressive but I just love the old school NA muscle cars
I'm a diehard Ford guy. That being said, this video is AWESOME! I get chills between 1:47-1:50 My wife asks me Why do you keep rewinding it? LOL!

you living the dream
Love the sound of them increasing RPMs very quick and smooth is it a true DZ302 with solid lift cam?
It has the factory M21 transmission and 3.73 gears.
MichaelBushPhotography thanks was about to ask...
Sure sounds good!!
Can't wait to get mine out 😁!!
Friggin Groovy Man!
thanks comments, I'm not the original owner but its been in my family for close to 30 years now
Great ride, Thanks!

DEAR SANTA....
hahaha i love how the high end exotic lambos and pourches are on the side of the road :47 and the american muscle is running fine
you reeled him like was tied to a stump
Is that motor stock? Headers and a good exhaust sounds like. Please advise. Sounds great!
pretty "motivating" Z!! sounds like being at Watkins Glen in a SCCA road race.
well, a you can shift a 302 at 7500 without hurting it...
segajeep...Yes, the 302 was known for it's high revving nature.
@@mikenagy9408 My da has a 68 Z. He likes to shift at 7
Chambered exhaust? Headers?
was there no passing allowed? someone was holding up the show(didnt look like it was the stang)
was it a lambo?, thought maybe pantera
@GrizzlySteve I don't know what it sounds like. I have never heard it :-P
I wood have dusted both in my Z .😂
Nice....
Damn
That Mustang ahead of him was the only sight a Chevy ever saw of a Ford, THE TAILLIGHTS.

@@robr5786 HAHA DREAM ON BOWINKLE.
Music...🎶
Chevy 302 10,000 all day long
Are you sure? Thanks for the correction Not.....
You had that shelby on a dinner plate @ 1:47 or so if you would have let that DZ wind up like it was designed to run
@124maddog1 I would never
what was in the Mustang
Probably a 390 or 427. GM EATERS.
I would push a chevy before I would drive ford.

I think I came a little
So...you let the Ford win?
theshyguitarist.... It wasn't a race , or a video game.
He never LET the Ford win. The stang would have been in front anyway like they always are racing those overrated Z28,s.
The 302s were fast, powerful little engines, but they didn't hold up well at all, most were blown up, 327s were far more durable.
