Alpha Beta- When that man's parrot squawked after the man made the comment about how supermarket contests "ruffle their feathers", I like to think that the parrot laughed in his parrot language at that. - I like how the varying VHS distortion throughout this video makes the experience more and more interesting.
1:00 - This music in this TV Guide commercial just doesn't really fit. It sounds like it belongs in a Sci-Fi commercial, or one of those books about the unexplained.
1:00--I agree that the electronic music in the TV Guide commercial is very similar to that used in the "In The News" segments that ran on CBS during Saturday morning cartoons back then. 2:00--As of 2022, this is one of several incarnations of the Match Game that are being rerun on Buzzr, a retro game show network available over the air in many parts of the country. This segment also features the unmistakable voice of Johnny Olson, a popular announcer on many Goodson-Todman game shows right up to his death in the mid-80's. 7:19--The original Battlestar Galactica, which has rerun on-and-off on Me TV's Saturday night sci-fi block in recent years. 10:03--Campbell's still makes some of these soups, but I believe they phased out the Manhandlers brand some time ago.

While they could ticket you for drinking and operating a boat, I can’t see the police arresting you for having a cooler of unopened beers. The guy in the commercial never even opens the beer or takes a sip.
I wasnt born yet but i thoroughly enjoy these 70' s commercials. I actually watch match game on buzzr 😊

The tracking on the VHS recording makes the Matchgame host’s mic hand resemble the baddie from Robocop after he gets covered in radioactive waste
He is just holding it weird. The video artifacts here aren't due to "tracking". These were almost certainly recorded with an antenna source.

I forgot that small cars were being promoted back then because of the gas shortage. Wouldn't work today cause people are more stubborn.
