Gamfreak in X and Y: we created the fairy type to balance the dragon type. Gamefreak in ORAS: we gave an already OP legendary dragon type a mega who can mega evolve without a mega stone so you can give it a life orb or whatever.
Are you kidding me? At this point anyway, Fairy IS the new Dragon type. Has advantages over so many types, yet only two weaknesses, and those two weaknesses are of types that suck offensively.
Agreed fairies can be annoying to deal with i think fire should of been super effective against fairies since poison is, fairies in mythology are also known as nature spirits.
Not only that but, Dark and Fighting did NOT need another weakness. If anything, the only Dark types that needed a weakness were Sableye and Spiritomb, since they had no weakness. (Spiritomb is still my second favorite Pokemon, heh.)

I had to enter a competition just to get the Mega Stone for my Blaziken, and even then, I had to wait over a month before they actually gave it out, even though every other competition gave theirs out in under a week. It was not so... It is seeming unlikelier than ever with every new generation with its own new ephemeral gimmick, discarded forever when the next thing comes along. A shame, because terastalization is perhaps the most balanced and unpredictable of the three so far. If such a thing were to ever happen, I do wish that the megas given to pokemon that were already strong (Had a BST of 600 or higher in base form) stay in the past. Jason Martinez yeah, if they can get their stone for it. With dynamaxing any Pokémon can do it from the get go. With megas, only a select few can do it and it takes quite a long time to get the respective stones.
In my opinion, Z-moves and Dynamax didn’t need to exist. Game freak could have just balanced out mega evolutions by introducing a mechanic called Awakening. This was done in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, where any Pokémon without a mega became stronger. Awakening only boosted stats and the Pokémon retained its appearance, type combo, and abilities. In the main series games, if awakening existed, it would take the form of an awakening stone. An awakened Pokémon in a Msg would gain 20 base points in all stats except HP, since Mega Evolution never changes HP anyways. We need more Pokémon that could mega evolve, especially for those gen 5 and onwards!

I'm still new to Mega Evolution (while I own Gen 5 and 6 games, I'm still at the beginning of them) so this was eye-opening to me. Though TBH I'm questioning why some of these Pokémon got Mega Evolutions. Pokémon like the final forms of the Kanto and Hoenn starters, as well as Pokémon like Mewtwo or Salamence, make sense. Some of the others, no. BTW, they're giving out a bunch of Mega Stones over Mystery Gift this month. It runs until October 31st and is a promotion to promote Ultra Sun and Moon coming out. I'm definitely going to try to get them cause otherwise you can't get most of the Mega Stones without racking up Battle Points at the Battle Tree to buy them. (You can also get the Kanto starter ones by beating Red there).
I'm sure there's good reasons behind these choices of Mega Evolutions. In my opinion poor choices were Pidgeot (Fearow makes more sense for being the Tougher Bird, and Pidgey's are just commonly a first encounter (what next, Bidoof, Ratitcate?)) and Slowbro (it's not even fully evolved just yet). Gen VIII should have some good choices like Golem and Dragonite and Arboc and Fearow.
Believe it or not, though I had a Pidgey/Pidgeotto/Pidgeot with me for the majority of my time playing Pokémon X, I did not use it in the Pokémon League as it wasn't worth it, so I discarded it into the PC and search for another Flying Pokémon across Kalos, one that would be worth it for the league. I had a good choice, though it was at a lower level than the rest of my team due to obtaining it at the last second before taking on the League, being Aerodactyl.
I think a made Good Hall of Fame Choices in X and Alpha Sapphire: *Kalos: Greninja, Blastoise, Lucario, Zoroark, Aerodactyl, and Xerneas *Hoenn: Swampert, Sharpedo, Sableye, Aggron, Latias, and Kyogre Half my team in X had Mega Evolutions, whilst all my team in Alpha Sapphire had them.
I take back what I thought of Slowbro Mega Evolving as it's actually one of 2 Evolutions that Slowpoke goes through, so Slowbro is Fully Evolved after all.

It was not so... It is seeming unlikelier than ever with every new generation with its own new ephemeral gimmick, discarded forever when the next thing comes along. A shame, because terastalization is perhaps the most balanced and unpredictable of the three so far. If such a thing were to ever happen, I do wish that the megas given to pokemon that were already strong (Had a BST of 600 or higher in base form) stay in the past. We don't need Tyranitar or Rayquaza to be overpowered again.

Jason Martinez yeah, if they can get their stone for it. With dynamaxing any Pokémon can do it from the get go. With megas, only a select few can do it and it takes quite a long time to get the respective stones.
In my opinion, Z-moves and Dynamax didn’t need to exist. Game freak could have just balanced out mega evolutions by introducing a mechanic called Awakening. This was done in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, where any Pokémon without a mega became stronger. Awakening only boosted stats and the Pokémon retained its appearance, type combo, and abilities. In the main series games, if awakening existed, it would take the form of an awakening stone. An awakened Pokémon in a Msg would gain 20 base points in all stats except HP, since Mega Evolution never changes HP anyways.
We need more Pokémon that could mega evolve, especially for those gen 5 and onwards!

I'm still new to Mega Evolution (while I own Gen 5 and 6 games, I'm still at the beginning of them) so this was eye-opening to me. Though TBH I'm questioning why some of these Pokémon got Mega Evolutions. Pokémon like the final forms of the Kanto and Hoenn starters, as well as Pokémon like Mewtwo or Salamence, make sense. Some of the others, no.
BTW, they're giving out a bunch of Mega Stones over Mystery Gift this month. It runs until October 31st and is a promotion to promote Ultra Sun and Moon coming out. I'm definitely going to try to get them cause otherwise you can't get most of the Mega Stones without racking up Battle Points at the Battle Tree to buy them. (You can also get the Kanto starter ones by beating Red there).

I'm sure there's good reasons behind these choices of Mega Evolutions. In my opinion poor choices were Pidgeot (Fearow makes more sense for being the Tougher Bird, and Pidgey's are just commonly a first encounter (what next, Bidoof, Ratitcate?)) and Slowbro (it's not even fully evolved just yet). Gen VIII should have some good choices like Golem and Dragonite and Arboc and Fearow.
Believe it or not, though I had a Pidgey/Pidgeotto/Pidgeot with me for the majority of my time playing Pokémon X, I did not use it in the Pokémon League as it wasn't worth it, so I discarded it into the PC and search for another Flying Pokémon across Kalos, one that would be worth it for the league. I had a good choice, though it was at a lower level than the rest of my team due to obtaining it at the last second before taking on the League, being Aerodactyl.
I think a made Good Hall of Fame Choices in X and Alpha Sapphire:
*Kalos: Greninja, Blastoise, Lucario, Zoroark, Aerodactyl, and Xerneas
*Hoenn: Swampert, Sharpedo, Sableye, Aggron, Latias, and Kyogre
Half my team in X had Mega Evolutions, whilst all my team in Alpha Sapphire had them.
