FOR SUPER EARTH!
The mad lads of the Helldivers community pulled off a miracle. Never in my wildest dreams I’d imagine Sony would capitulate. Well done boys!
Haven’t seen player pushback like that since war thunder.
Don't forget the mad ladies
you dont mess with a community that can take back malevelon creek, kill 2 billion bugs in 12 hours and defended ESTANU 7 times hahahaha
Hell, the entire game is designed on training large amounts of players to work together, but seeing this backfiring on Sony is just so funny.
@CaptainRumPanda God damn, I feel like there should never be another bug on estanu ever again we've been there so many times.
Funny thing is it took us about the same amount of time a MO lasts to get it done, certainly helped there was only one planet available to drop on.
Coincidence?
I THINK NOT!

HOW'D YOU LIKE THE TASTE OF FREEDOM, SONY?!
Tastes of money.
@user-ts2ir4hc5rYou can't even bid with showing you have money. Clearly you don't know how that works.
DEMOCRACY NEVER SLEEPS!
We have maintained our way of life.
@willjohnboy they can take our money, but not our data
Shocking, a game that rewards teaming up and watching each others backs, is filled with people who care about the fate of other players who would be adversely affected by policy changes...
First they show a possible end to the console wars and they show the unity isn't just artificial??? Arrowhead really is trying to become a staple of gaming
We all had our reasons. I had a few not just that... This was a major battle won!! I will be diving once again. We did our part. Now it's time to get back to spreading democracy!!
@@samuraitadpole5459 I feel like I saw almost nobody who wasn't on board with the fight. So to me it was that meme of the body builder dudes shaking hands, y'know, the one with the red and white shirts? One side, PC players. The other side, PS players.
Now to change our reviews back to positive
Indeed, do your part. The negative reviews were a necessary evil to combat tyranny. Make things right. The second MO just dropped.
Its still unavailable to be purchased in the non PSN countries, as of now. Maybe if they reverse that, people will start changing their reviews.
I would edit it but not go positive until after the 30th, other wise Sony may flip again. Hold the line for now
Not yet, the store page stll has the PSN requirement notice. And the Playstation tweet seems like it will have a followup with more clarifications in these days, we have to wait for a more complete statement and a policy change.
I'll wait until new helldiver recruits from non-PSN countries can get in once again.
By "We're still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable." they mean "We got caught with our hands in Steams cookie jar."
Ironically but not surprisingly, the best thing they could have done after the game had gotten momentum with the dev team at the helm was… nothing. They could have contentedly sat back and watched the money come in, instead of insisting on double dipping trying to get everyone’s personal information to sell as well.
They came. They brawled. They felt the insurmountable might of the helldivers.
But they may come again, greedy fucks.

Good to know that companies can still be reminded that the customer is king. It’s easy to think that these megacorps are completely untouchable, but in great enough numbers consumers can make companies change their minds.
Massive W for all my fellow Helldivers out there.
Sony did it because they were worried about lack of sales which means less money not because they hold us in high regard.
@@Starkee749 they hold our wallets in high regard

I despise how they said they’re still learning, these megacorps don’t even play games! They’re out of touch with the gamer, and this just proves it.
It’s amazing what this game has accomplished. The largest playerbase in the shortest amount of time, the most praise in recent years, the biggest business fuck up in gaming history, and now, the best comeback. We made Sony back off. Let that sink in. They own half the world’s electronics and the Helldivers made them surrender.

I'm afraid we probably already lost a lot Helldivers who won't return to the game
But some of them are coming back
I for one won't even change my review, I was already at my limit with the idiotic patches and crashing, this was just the cherry on the top.
Myself being one of them. My entire reason for supporting this game outside of it obviously being generally enjoyable was how the development team worked on the game and interacted with their community. Games like palworld, lethal company, and helldivers up until this week are the breath of fresh air the be gaming community has needed for a long time. Having responsive developers that are genuinely invested in both creating and maintaining a great product for people to enjoy and do the right things along the way. To essentially be flawless in your movements up until this point and then quite honestly collapse into an xbox live chat from 2009 the second they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar a little bit speaks volumes for me as a consumer. I was on their side right up until they openly admitted that before they even signed on with sony that they would make this a requirement. Because one of three things happened at that point: 1.) Arrowhead neglected to properly inform themselves of signing with another company would ultimately impact the distribution and management of the game they spent "8 years of blood sweat and tears on" and Im sorry, but negligence doesnt excuse screwing over 100's of thousands of people in over 170 countries over. Idc what the reason is. Get better litigation.
2.) They WERE aware of this to start and were willing to gamble with 100's of thousands of peoples money in those 170+ countries in hopes that if the game hit it big enough that they would be able to retroactively nullify that part of the agreement they made with sony when partnering with them. Playing games with peoples money like this is extremely gross and unacceptable.
3.) They WERE aware and either thought there wouldnt be enough people in those regions for it to really be a big fuss, or worse; outright didnt care that those people would be screwed.
None of these outcomes are acceptable. At least one of these things took place and to me, you're crossing the line of what should be considered the bare minimum in any of those results. Just like the community held sonys feet to the fire for this, now that we have more context of arrowheads role in this, they TOO need to have their feet held to the fire. Id say refunding money spent on warbonds would be amicable, but I know that would never happen. They at bare minimum should be making the next warbond completely free for everyone as an apology for their role in all of this. But what doesnt need to happen is them just getting to wipe their hands and get out of this scott free because they absolute had dirty hands in this process.

You mention having fun: I have an idea. Give the heavy machine gun a backpack. This balances it a bit more by removing your backpack slot when you take it, and buffs it by giving it more than 75 rounds. Possibly to limit how much you shoot, presuming the backpack has like 500, 750, or 1000 rounds in it, is a heat meter like laser weapons. Fulfills my weapon fantasy for an actual functional machine gun, and would be similar to the autocannon
Community managers probably were given a 'line to take' by Sony and then couldn't adapt to the changing situation
Yeah. It's sort of annoying that a lot of people overfixate on them. The entire purpose of CMs is to be a buffer/hate sink - The actual decisions are made way above their heads.
Honestly, Credit to Spitz, If He meant it or not, He threw enough Oil in the Fire that even Sony felt the Heat
Not a victory until the yellow box in the Steam store page with the "PSN account required" goes away and the game is made available in all countries again. There should also be some kind of official policy update to never try a similar move in the future for Steam. Only then my review will change back to positive, of course adding a big caveat about all this situation.
I think it's high time for Valve to talk to us about their stance about this thing too.
Does nobody understand timezones? Goddamn, be patient
Ppl are cracking way too many jokes, this aint over by a loooooong shot

You know what would be the perfect "reward" for doing the account link voluntarily after this? A cape titled "United We Stand", sporting a mix of the various playstation colors, and the flavor text "We Dive as One, or Not At All. All in the name of Freedom, Liberty, and Managed Democracy for Everyone".
A subtle nod that, when the community really comes together, ain't nothing gonna stand in our way, not even the big corporations. (Or heck, just make it a freebie, like the Malevelon creek cape.)
Fuck that. I literally dont want sony having access to my information. Its worth more than a goofy skin in a game. Stop encouraging the linking in any capacity. Nobody wants it. Nobody likes it. Its generally annoying to all players across all platforms. Whats so difficult to understand about that?
@@chrisbruchak4519 That's kind of why I added that little caveat at the end of "or just make it a freebie like the malevelon creek cape". I want to make it clear that I don't want it to be necessary to link for any reason. I'm just throwing crap out there, it'd be up to the devs to determine that kind of stuff anyways, not me.
@@TheMongral idk if you noticed. But peoples words matter. Youre not the only person echoing that goofy sentiment and it collectively needs to stop. Sony sees that and that crap is what gives them the idea that this kind of thing is even acceptable to begin with.

Steam still had the requirement.
SOnY is old enough to be patient. The patch note warning is still there.
The devs seemingly agreed to having PSN active in the game during development.
From what I understand the CEO of AH said it was something Sony enforced on them the last few months of the 8 years of development and that Arrowhead expressed to Sony that they felt it would end up poorly for both Sony and AH if they force the linking, Sony went ahead with it anyway
@@roboten98it was joels decision to postpone it 3 months and basically swept it under the rug because the game was heavily succeeding. Ive seen enough to know he at bare minimum was perfectly ok with screwing the people who bought his game in regions where psn isnt available, knowing they would have access barred from them. The tweet that did it was when he tried to say he had no idea as hes never even tried to make a sony account. He just works on games. Thats just wildly dismissive of your reckless actions. Thats like saying you dont have blood on your hands when you sell someone heroine and they overdose. Yes, you didnt cause the overdose, but you facilitated it. Gonna need to see some serious back pedaling aside from sony simply saying they wont do it.
@@chrisbruchak4519 He is a developer, not the puplisher. Sony controlls what information is on the steam store page. Sony should have to made sure that it would not be available to non psn countrys to begin with, if they cared.
@@roboten98Na it wasn't forced upon them, it was agreed upon during development and finalised several Months before launch.
Sony was under the impression that the game will launch with these requirements but it was the CEO of AH who turned it off in an attempt to stabilise the game's buggy and difficult launch.
What he should have done was shut servers down completely to allow his team to properly fix the servers and the game and restart them once completed.
But instead he insisted on keeping the game live, work on fixing the problem then reestablishing the login requirements after the fact. He probably did so without realising what that would mean for players who live in areas that don't support psn.
@@invaderIRK1which is all I need to know. At some point the litigation department at arrowhead (if one exists) failed to properly inform themselves. To not understand that launching a game on a pc gaming platform that would ultimately require an account from a publisher thats banned in 170+ platforms would cause MAJOR issues for your playerbase and your game itself is beyond excuse. Things like this are literally why companies have lawyers. So you can have these conversations ahead of time about what signing with a particular publisher entails and what they require/expect of you/the game. Not just sign first ask questions later.
Yippe~
Finally gamers get a victory
Never mess with a community that killed 2 billion bugs in half a day
Totally agree with them needing to balance more with the solo perspective in mind, if the devs would have done that from the beginning they would have known that it takes 20+ charges to kill a BT with a railgun and who knows how many shots with the arc thrower, and then it would have raised a red flag that something is broken with squad play and potentially that bug would have been fixed sooner , and those terrible nerfs could have been avoided.
There are soo many Helldivers that are never coming back now the trust is broken, everyone knows that Sony and by extension AH can just drop this type of shit on us at any moment.
We have to be vigilant for this type of shit in future.
Don't drop your guard just yet, it's Sony we are talking about. This whole maneuver showed us true colours of devs, which we saw was not as innocent as they portrayed themselves. There's a lot of work to be done, but I remain hopeful.....
Helldivers stared into the Abyss, and the Abyss blinked first
We won.
Change reviews
Wear "Tyrant Hunter" cape from Steeled Veterans warbond as winning move
We made an amazing precedent which will inspire players to fight back
We won a battle, not the war. There's still 177 countries that have had the game de-listed from Steam. We need to hold the line it's not over yet
Do not change reviews until the win is complete and permanent.
You surrender too soon. Very weak.
Not yet. Hold the line brothers and sisters, until those who were forced back to super earth civilian life be able to fight once more!
FOR SUPER EARTHHHHH RAHHHHH
HAHAHA RAAAHHH
Imo they should have just made it so that if you sign into PSN you get a unique cosmetic and 1k super credits, lots of people out there would have the incentive to do so (new warbond is around the corner) and those who really wouldnt want to do it could just skip out on it, that way everyone would be satisfied.
I do agree highly incentivizing something by giving players cool unique shit for accepting is way better than requiring under threat of losing access.
The fact that PC players dont have to pay for PSN to play is actually what irks Sony the most.
Liberty has seen you through. Today you've carved another foothold in the long climb to Liberty. Victory was never in doubt.
Their greed dictated this decision, they saw that bag slippin' away. Stay vigilant soldiers. Change reviews back, for now..
arrowhead knew that playstation was going to make such a move as early as 6 months before release and didn't say a fucking thing about it. They will not regain my trust
they definitely aren't entirely blameless, but from the looks of it they weren't aware that the requirement was going to exclude a lot of countries. Or maybe assumed that a solution would be put in place for these.
They were aware that psn linking was required, but the availability of psn is on Sony's dime, not arrowheads. They're not responsible for that.
So happy to hear this. I was gonna keep playing regardless, but it was sad to see. Hope they don't try to pull any other shenanigans.
WE HAVE DEFENDED OUR WAY OF LIFE!
I'm so proud of this community. Now if we can use similar methods to voice our conserns and show Arrowhead we're (largely) displeased with how they balance the game it'll be great.

Oh, some will, and most won't, I for one had a negative review way before this garbage and I won't change it,for that they need to fix the actual game and so far the patch at ah is all about changing the weapons and enemy behavior all over the place while important things are being ignored.
Let's not relax until 1. The requirement is officially removed from the store page and, more importantly, 2. The delisted countries are restored.
never see a huge gamer unite in my entire life like this.
That's down to the inadvertent magical lightning arrowhead managed to capture in a bottle with a game. As after all, which live service community single objective driven game have you seen bind a community together cohesively regardless of gender, faith, political views etc? I can't think of any personally. Sony almost ruined it, however as long the 177 countries remain delisted the community won't be whole. So, it's not over yet.
"don't nerf only buff" will only lead to the enemies being buffed instead.
This.
A lot of communities get far too upset over legitimate balance changes, not realizing that power creep leads to two FAR worse outcomes: either utter boredom because the game is too easy, or a much more challenging game that becomes less accessible to the average player.
They already were last patch regardless
yea, ppl will always whine about NERFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... without noticing the Buffs.
It's called Balancing. When ppl ignore 90% of the guns because there's a few guns that are just soooo ahead of everything else... using a gun that's notMeta but feels good to you = grieving.
…Yes. That’s implied.
People hate nerfs, people like buffs. Even if they ultimately wind up at “the same” place. Do not do what your customers hate. Do what your customers like. What’s so hard to understand about this?
@@CyberChud2077 Well, if you bothered to give this even an iota of thought beyond "hah! this position of mine is unassailable" you would realize that what people hate more than their weapons being nerfed is enemies being buffed to the point where their favorite weapons don't work as they want to anymore.
Think the midwits pissing and shitting themselves over their railgun requiring to be charged to be used was bad? Imagine if they instead made the charger legs taks 3 or 4 hits to break by buffing its leg health. Only buffing just causes the game's difficulty to suffer, which makes people get bored unless you buff the enemies, but that will end up feeling "artificial" and the whinefest continues.
Not to mention, it is waaaay harder to balance by changing every single mob in respect to the weapon selection than it is to tune overperforming weapons.
Currently, overperforming weapons get nerfed, underperforming/utilized weapons get buffs, how is this a worse system than buffing everything, gradually ramping untill solo helldive can be done casually? In the end, it wraps around to "don't balance your game in a way I do not approve of or I will shit and piss my pants untill my favorite youtuber tells me the new meta weapons to use"
It's just whining and noise.

that'll depend on Steam reversing the change. Might take another day or two like before, unless Valve wants to see more proof Sony won't just flip the switch again later.
Great points, I think you have a solid view on what needs doing here. With the recent changes you can feel what's "good enough" even in difficulty 5 and up. You fight non-stop and if your guns can't keep up with that you have to run something like the Incendiary Breaker.

GLORIOUS VICTORY
They need to reinstate availability to all countries. I'll be changing my review, but I'm still going to leave my opinion on their balancing/patching. I'll probably mention something about their Community Managers and Discord mods as well.
This was a really crappy situation that could have been avoided in so many ways, but I'm impressed with the community's response and the effect it had.
give it 2-3 days for the other regions get reinstated to get the lost helldivers back to friendly territory again. *However,* we need to wait and see if that happens before we relax a tad bit and keep a *VERY* close eye on Sony actions for the next 3-6 months in case they try to do anything stupid again.
Sony really think they can mess with a community that murdered 2 billion bugs, in under 13 hours.
lets hope this inspires other player bases to also stand up against greedy corporates. We deserve better!
First of Congrats on the whole Community. We won this fight.
Secondly: OhDough, I disagree on your take on balancing and really like the approach of only sitegrades in Helldivers. It makes more primarys viable and and varies the gameplay.
The Dominator, Sickle, Erruptor, Plas Punisher ( not for me but some people do crazy tglhings with it), Scorcher, Incendiary Breaker and Defender all effective and have their roles. Now, that the stronger weapons were brought to one level, they can in steps bring all primary weapons to that strength.
And it's a coop shooter. Weapons should be balanced in a way to compliment each other.
People just want a power fantasy and always buffing and never nerfing just leads to power creep. AH doesn't get it perfect every time but I think they've done more good than bad with the weapon balance
“Two Billion and One” lets get this out. Sony needs to know how useless they are, how simply inconsequential they are.
They have stealth buffed enemys more than once. When the added the headshot damage res to armors over 100 AV, the also buffed headshot damage a bit.
I feel immensely proud to be part of this community.
I've been saying this for awhile about Co-op games; it's NOT competitive- so stop nerfing the fun stuff, buff the un-fun stuff so EVERYTHING is fun to play with eventually. Just let players choose how to play together.
There are going to be nerfs. Every game has nerfs co-op or PvP. They've been buffing tons of weapons. You'll live.
@@LordZedz "Buffing tons of weapons" you mean.. like the Liberator Pen? Full auto sure fixed that POS right? Giving 5 "extra" damage to the base Liberator that still can't penetrate light armor? Fixed that for sure right? I could continue but you get my point, these "buffs" that you tout are jokes, they do nothing other than allowing you AH bots to sing AH's praises.
(meanwhile, warframe do exactly that, forced to introduce more "FUN" and ruined the game
@@hawk9mm Weapons that have been buffed significantly since launch: Recoilless, EAT, Laser Cannon, Jar-5, Senator, Flamethrower, Spray & Pray, Breaker Incendiary, Punisher just off the top of my head. That's not even including weapons like the Slugger which have been both buffed and then nerfed.
The only thing worse than nerfs are power creep, so while it sucks it's a necessary evil.
Remember Sony is rife we DEI and they do want to control your speech and even thought on their platforms. You can say what you want as long as it is approved speech. Just look at OW2 as an example. When I stopped playing literally no one was talking in chat because bans were out of control and the forums are full of woke topics but if you dare disagree you are labeled toxic and worse. This of course is made possible by the DEI loving community managers and higher ups that have bought into this agenda. While I was angry about the folks that would lose their accounts because they could not make a PSN account and I had uninstalled and issued a refund it was also for the fact that Sony wanted my data so they could control me and ban me more easily which Misty and Baskinator (both HD CM's) said is what the PSN linking is all about. Idn. The 5 extra damage to the Liberator was something that I would have not noticed how much better it performs until I took it in and used it for a bit. That small buff made the weapon far more consistent in its killing potential. 5 more rounds in the mad would be great, but imho, even a small change can have a big difference.
I agree, we survived the 500kg from sony, but now its up to the devs to keep the game alive
I don't even play this game but that's what gamer's solidarity looks like and it's amazing
I understand the point of diving solo being a controlled environment, but I think the game has enough gameplay variety to encourage group play. For example, two people fighting loud and pulling bug breaches, two specialists taking niche roles (infiltrating bases, bringing weapons better against only 1 enemy type, only doing sides&poi, etc). Duos become fun with tight-knit teamwork, like autocannon-guy dropping his backpack for the partner to allow him to go full auto, or the cqc with blitzer and flamethrower keeping the tides away from someone with better group clear and range.
Super happy for this cuz my friend yesterday literally got the game outright removed from his steam library, tho I genuinely don't fully get the "to ban" people because we all have unique steam ids, which they all receive whne we log in, pay for the game, pay for super credits, yes it has to go through steam but we all have our own unique steam Id.
4:53 how do you make samples so visible? I don’t see the icons until I have them basically at an arm’s length
Don't forget the game is still not available for purchase in those other countries
Or that arrowhead knew before even partnering with sony that this would be required per arrowhead themselves. You had two options at that point, be forthcoming and bite the bullet and get people to do it, OR refuse to partner with sony because you want to retain autonomy over how the game you spent "8 years of blood sweat and tears on" is published and distributed. But they didnt. They understood that no one had heard of or cared about helldivers at that point in time and that sony had the man power to push the game. They sold their soul and when the devil came to collect his dues, they werent ready to pay up. They gambled on the game being so successful that they would be able to retroactively circumvent what they agreed to from the start. While their gambit was ultimately successful, it literally almost cost them their game. It also doesnt change the fact that they were either knowingly willing to put 160 countries out in a dirty way like that, or were negligent that what happened to those players in those countries was something that was even possible. Neither one is good and both look really bad on the company that legitimately had built up so much good will within their community.
That was another successful Major Order. Congrats Helldivers!
A great idea for the next video/stream would be a "fantasy patch" on what needs to be fixed and/or buffed. Additionally, a list of new features that need to be added
This is officially the greatest game community of all time.
Have they changed back the optional theme instead of some games that may require a linked account?
I agree a skin or even a small warbond that can either be purchased or gotten for free with linking a psn account
I'm picking up what you're putting down Dough. Railgun damage doubled
Lmao
That was definitely a general order, where are our 50 badges
"22 buffs!" 3/4 of those buffs go to enemies lol
Speaking on future positive momentum for the game and balancing around solo helldive is really critical going forward. Short term the game is going to be played in lobbies and groups of friends but over time players are going to fall off significantly and players need to be able to complete these missions, preferably with a variety of equally powerful and fun options.
I'd just like to thank all of the Helldivers who did their part in this Major Order. Let Super Earth prosper once more.
That bit at about 6 mins in, where you shoot that bile titan 3 times in the face with the quasar and it is still going... that background footage really made me sad.
Sony: "ouch, right in the profit margins"
Curious to see if all the players they lost from this end up coming back
Agree 100%. I wonder what nerfs we get in the new warbond after a few weeks XD
