- Petrof is one of Europe’s oldest and most respected piano builders. This relatively small piano is built with top of the line components and offers an incredibly refined playing experience. This instrument was a living room furniture piece which hasn’t been played. So, it is in new condition inside. The furniture is also in excellent condition. Our technicians have prepared the piano just as they would prep a new piano with fine regulation, voicing, lubrication and other refinements of touch and tone.

PETROF are nowadays undoubtedly among the best pianos out there
Granted this piano is in a live room, the tone of this, for an upright, is totally amazing!
Just shows how good an upright can be when it’s well tuned, voiced, well made and of course well played! :-) beautiful as always.
I kept listening for the honky-tonk and was pleasantly kept waiting!
Petrofs have really nice tone. I worked at a Petrof dealer for over 7 years in the 90s. We had a Petrof plate from that size piano for a demo. One time, for some reason, we got a Petrof with a broken plate. My boss was a Petrof rep for the Western US, so maybe someone had this piano and he offered to take it, since we had a plate in the shop. Well, we put the demo plate in the piano, and I strung it with Roslau wire 1/2 size up from the standard scale design. The volume and tone were staggering. I don't remember who bought it, but he or she got a really great upright piano!
Another great video. One would think that since uprights are less expensive than grands one would see more examples of good ones, but I, at least, have seen far fewer examples of really great uprights. It's always a joy to see an upright that has been given as much attention as a high end grand. This one is beautiful inside and out, and Robert is so good at demonstrating the strengths of specific pianos. Demonstrating pianos is a skill unto itself. I enjoyed his song selection and just watching him play it.
Dear Robert,
This Petrof upright is a fantastic piano!
A fortunate person it will be who buys this fine instrument.
I have a Petrof upright piano and it has an amazingly warm full sound just like this one. Petrof upright pianos sound very much like grand pianos with their rich, full, clear sound. Truly amazing pianos!
Wow, relatively "old" fine instrument in almost brand new condition! Whoever owns this instrument is one lucky person!
Wow, this was brighter than a Yamaha, deeper than a Grotrian! A titan which can throw down with the best of them.
I love my Petrof Model IV grand piano. It's a gem!
Had once 125 model also from 1998, same finish. Often listeners commented Petrof upright sounds like a grand - rich bell like tone with full resonance and responsive Renner action! Looking forward to some Bora or Monsoon tests :) Also exquisite instruments!
This reminds me of my own piano! A 1997 P125 imported from Ireland that was never played until a few months ago when I bought it since it sounded better than every grand in my price range
Petrof pianos are very underrated!
Thank you, Robert ⭐✨🌹
I could do that but I don’t want to. Seriously, I enjoyed listening to the piano and your performances.
It sounds so beautiful, like a grand piano
A wonderful instrument! It sounds as good as it looks.

What a great demonstration that was. The tone is really warm and rich.
Beautiful piano and wonderful playing!
Thanks Robert for doing these videos.
BEAUTIFUL SOUND! thanks for sharing this video.
Gorgeous sound for a little piano. Wish I had it !
sounds lovely
Love the music. Love the explanations
I came here after reading that a character in the book i was reading had a voice like an ancient European piano… I suppose it was quite nice. 👍
Great demonstration! 👏
I have a Petrof mahogany upright of this vintage, but it is 50 inch and not French provincial case. It has stood up well and I like it. I wish I had room for a grand. I wish I could play mine like you play, Robert!
Oh, how I wish my small Petrof would be as perfectly tuned, voiced etc. as this one is🥺
Thanx, Maestro 🌹🌹🌹
Sounds awesome i wish i had a petrof
It seems to me that I have the same piano, just in a slightly different (non-chippendale) corpus. I love it. But it definitely has to see my technician again. I love its bell-like tone.
Belo som
I have the smallest size '80s Petrof upright at home, quite beautiful sounding for it's price range beating even some low-tier German ones in sound I think. This one is bigger. In the smallest size I'd go for Renner action instead of Detoa if it is an option. With bigger sizes/actions the difference seems less as the damper "levers" are bigger. I imagine this one has agraffes too.
잘치시네요.프로으신가 봐요
Please describe this piano because I am blind. What a gorgeous sound!
It’s short compact the word Petroff is on the middle part it’s glossy burgundy brown finish no frills more simple and stark looking but the way Robert plays it makes you think it’s from heaven
Hi Robert, I see you've got the top open which got me wondering how to get the best sound from our pianos. Reduce barriers around the soundboard like opening it up, and placing the piano further from walls and other hard surfaces?
The best upright pianos IMHO are made by Schimmel, Bechstein, Bösendorfer (yes, they make uprights), Steingraeber and Petrof. If you are on a budget, Feurich and Hailun.
What about Grotrian and Yamaha? Ibach?
For best sou d how would one place that in a typical room for such an instrument?

If only my upright sounded this nice... I like the shoes though.
