  • This installation is of a paver patio, with a stone fire pit, and circle inlay. We put a double border around the inlay and fire pit. The pavers in the inlay were put down on a 45 deg angle off the main patio. The pavers we used were Techo Bloc. The total patio is a little over 600 sg ft.

    It’s crazy how different the outcome is when a professional does it vs when a DIYer does it.

    this is the difference between good enough and done right. awesome job ! you didn't cut any corners and spent the time to do the time consuming details. great idea with the round center pavers and the rest going the other way.

    is there any pitch to the patio, or completely level in all directions? i know it gets more difficult when there's a level wall on two sides you have to line up with

    Why no stone dust or paver sand, I was under the impression all rock should be compacted before pavers ontop. I saw you screen the rock with the level then put pavers right ontop. I own a landscape company and am trying to learn as much as I can

    • @srmcontracting
      @srmcontracting  Před 2 lety

      We used 3/8" chip stone in place of the sand. We did what is called an "open grade" base for this installation. There's a lot of debate on whether to use open grade (which is 3/4" clean stone base with 3/8" chip stone as bedding) or traditional (which is 3/4" modified with concrete sand as bedding). I believe both have their places and are both good options. Thanks for watching

    QUESTION, I am getting ready to do a raised paver patio like this video, my retaining wall will be curved instead of straight like this video. How do I slope the retaining wall so it matches the slope of the pavers? Similar to the curved parts of the patio in the video

    • @srmcontracting
      @srmcontracting  Před rokem

      I build the wall level and then crown the patio. So the high spot is in the middle and the water will shed to the edges. Hope this helps

  • @SW20FL

    What kind of paver base did you use? I see the Sakrete brags and then I see crushed gravel/rock bags for cheaper. Can either one be used? AWESOME video BTW

    Probably about a $35K patio and retaining wall on a property with a box house covered in vinyl siding and the cheapest OC shingles you can get. Man, people crack me up. 😆
    Absolutely no shade towards SRM, though. The project looks fantastic and well thought out, nice job!

      @@joyfaith1711 No it aint. Between base rock, chip stone, pavers, fill sand and a few other things, half of cost is in materials. fThen the other
      half is to pay dedicated professionals who have invested their life and money into this field and are coming with a wealth of knowledge and a wealth
      of professional eqquipment. The cost of maintaining eqquiment, cost of large yard or warehouse to store eqquipment and materials, cost of diesel,
      truck / tractor payments, and the general cost of survival along with major inflation in this country. With the inflation situation, the math and current
      numbers in your head all have to be updated. They will likely have to charge more soon...in order to survive.
