Works great if you pay attention to instructions. czcams.com/users/postUgkxviiltW7NlHbp_VL_bLbIkbLAvILVhnia For those that complain about "mushy" or "wet" rice I suspect they are using the included cup to measure rice (which is really only 3/4 cup) and then putting in water using a separate measuring cup that is a full cup. This results in too much water and you will get mushy or wet rice and think it is not done. Just use the included cup for both rice and water, or your own measuring cup for rice and water according to your package directions. It will come out fine. I've used mine for years for brown and white rice. If your machine is bubbling white froth out of the steam vent then it means you should have rinsed your brand of rice first to remove some of the starch. Sheesh. Makes me wonder how people can cook well enough to feed themselves.
First use you need to wash well with soap and water, then rinse well with fresh water, I used mine for the first time today and it didn't have that plastic smell... I'm impressed 😊
Thanks for that mate, I'm gonna give one a go.
Same here.
Bought on January 02. in Lidl (Croatia) for 9,99€.
Washed well before use.
Absolutely no plastic odor.
Used a few times since then.
Microwave 1000W.
250g rice
500ml water
9 min (1000W)
5-10 min rest (lid on).
Fluffy.
Cooks frozen veggies to perfection, 50ml of water 500g mixed vegetables, 6 minutes later job done delicious 😋🙌
That's great to no ,thanks
was using this for 5 years as an asian student in France
It says on Sistema web site to remove all labels and wash before use and it says you can wash with warm soapy water, which would help remove odours.
Thanks for the information. 💜😊
I love mine. 1 cup rice and add 2 cups water. Cook for 15 minutes. Perfect every time.
Don't try to cook more than a cup. It doesn't cook it all the way through.
That’s a dealbreaker for our family, !!!! Just tried 500g I may use boiled water and a little less than instructions
Regarding the smell, i'd try with initial use, boil in microwave with ONLY water & white vinegar & bring to boil. That just might help. Good Luck!
Using the same cook ricer from Sistema: 1 cup rinsed rice (91 % entire grain), 500 ml of water, 2 tsp of salt, 12 min full power in the microwave, result yet moist and lightly hard, five more minutes full power, result dry but yet hard
I think you should have washed the unit first then place the rice and rewash it with the rice. Maybe the smell might go away.
Maybe peel the sticker off. That might help with the plastic smell because it might be the glue.
Very helpful and comforting
I have used these in white not sure it was sistema's brand?? Bought it in 90...at $5.99 from Ross store. Am using my 2nd one in red from Ross. I make fast cooked beans, cook frozen veggies, boiled potatoes, quick stew, brown rice...the best gadget.
You need to add 1c rice + 2 to 2.5c water & cook for 15 minutes. I did it his way & it came out uncooked & crunchy
I didn't get the measuring cup with mine. Do you know how much it holds
Thanks very much.
What about the steam coming off the rice? Does that block up your microwave?
That plastic label was probably the smell.
It is I removed mine lol what a noob
Thank u fir saying that just order one 😊
Alot people say it taste plastic.
This product usually at 15-20$. U can find small e.rice cooker sometimes on sale at that price
Did you wash it well before you used it?
Been looking lately to use a simple way of cooking some rice in small amounts and this looks kinda cool,i do know this brand:)
Did that plastic smell go away after a few uses?
“Sistema” is the brand :)
Very Informative!
Daniel.....was the smell from the label adhesive?
Yes, it's possible. When I did smell whatever it was I smelled on the inside of the container. That led me to believe it was the plastic. I can't completely rule out label though.
@poida savage as 🤣
I'm assuming it's the same process for couscous?
My whole life is in a pinch so this is a lifesaver😹
I washed mine & took the label off & there was no odd smell or taste
Nice one bro
Will it cook rice grown outside of new Zealand?
absolutely not
You should've taken the label off before you put it in the microwave, and I would've washed it before using it, I also would've put water in it and microwaved it and then just dumped the water out it might have gotten rid of some of the plastic smalls
you should probably wash that befor use id be surprised if you were not smelling the sticker etc
Salt?
Try Brown rice you will find it comes out rock hard.
I was never able to cook brown rice in mine either.
Doesn’t brown rice always take about twice as long?
Hi,
I have the same rice maker. I did exactly as said in The video. Rice was good and lose. I did 1 cup of rice and
Hey
I see you posted this a month ago, I'm asking if it's still in good condition after that much time, as in did it last long
@@Tha.tribal_chief I've used mine for years and still perfect
so are some plastics better than others? why do we use bad plastics?
Maybe some Forge you a Steel one. 🤣😂 If you find one, put it in the Microwave and watch the sparkles.
So how much rice did you ACTUALLY use?
How much water did you ACTUALLY use?
Did you guess how long to cook it?
To be fair, if you’re doing a product test, ya gotta have all the variables right to determine if the product works.
The kind of plastic makes a big difference as to whether or not it smells and for how long. If a plastic item smells the second time I use it, I won’t trust it and I chuck it…food and all.
i could hear the crunch in the rice lololol, are you for real ??
Istruzioni in Italiano?
His hands are too heavy! He should learn how to control his reflexes.
and why adding some rice after?
To top off the cup so it would t spill
Did you wash it? Wouldn’t be surprised it smells plasticy you didn’t even take the label off!
Judging from the whole video he didn't wash it before using it. Something I always do before using new plastic goods is wash them and then microwave them for 3-5minutes before actually using them with food as that can get rid of the plastic smell.
Sorry I had to comment you used a measuring cup and then just added a random amount like what?!?
Price please & how can I order it.
Try Amazon.
Try eBay as well
I ordered mine off Amazon.
best review!!
You didn't add salt
Just a perspective, not trying to shame anyone. But, dude, if you want to be credible..... Don't shoot videos with a sink full of dirty dishes. Additionally, wash the vessel, remove the labels, wash the vessel again.
😊Washing rice... Pour in desired amount of rice. The cover with clean water. Then, using your hand, in a circular motion, about 30 times, scrub the rice. Then drain. Repeat 2 more times then drain completely.
NOW your rice is ready to accept cooking water. Use the ratio that works best for you. I follow the directions on the rice I use from Japan. Once water is added, cover and let stand on counter for 30 minutes. Then place in your microwave, again, this differs, but for at least 10 minutes. Remove from microwave, carefully open the Systema, and use the paddle that comes with it to stir (from bottom to top).
Then, you're done!!
*just because it's made for the microwave, doesn't mean that it's quick rice. It does take time. *😊
I agreed with everything except letting it sit on the counter for 30 min PRIOR to cooking. That's just not necessary. I learned to make rice properly from my Japanese mother in law (not Japanese American either). She does everything you do, except the letting it sit BEFORE cooking. However, we ALWAYS let it sit AFTER cooking for at least 10-15 min before serving. Then fluff with rice paddle and serve. This dude didn't even bother to remove the label, and from the condition of the label he didn't even wash the vessel first. That's just gross!!! Who does that these days?
Nah I like it, because this is how I'm going to use it dirty dishes in my sink and everything.
My life isn't like a lab or a test kitchen.
@@tehs3raph1m No one's is, but it does put me off the product and the finished result.
bruh, jog on lmao
“Zaps the plasticky/inky printed label”: Smells plasticky. 😂 I’ve used Sistema for years with microwave ovens: Zero plasticky smells. Beautiful products and NOT Made in China (Yayyyy!!)
Absolutely.
Mine's been going for four years, and my electric rice cooker sits in a cupboard.
Maybe take the labels off first?
again most of you do not list the ingredients. why?
You have the grace of a bull
Don't use a metal spoon dude!
Why it comes with a plastic one!
Maybe remove the sticker label.
I think the sticker should be removed as that might be the smell.
Why are you say "about this" and "about that?" Didn't it come with directions? Wait, I know it did because I accidentally threw mine away and am watching this CZcams video to get the exact numbers... major fail.
The smell is under the label rip it of and wash it
The smell might be the label ? 😂
don't smell it, 🤣strange to smell rice 😂
At least it’s not made in CHINA. Usually when something is new, it will smell and later it dissipates.
wuhan bug on it
U must add soy sauce
If you followed the instructions better you might have had a better outcome. What does that tell me? If a cack handed bugger like you can make it in that machine it must be foolproof.
The machine is just a bucket with a lid
@@user-pm7pw1tl3tDouble lid. I think that’s part of why it works.
just look at the website and check out the product information...its a great cooker. i have one. i do not like or agree with this review. this guy is not very intelligent...
White Rice - Serves 2
This recipe uses the Rice Cooker (Multi Cooker)
1 cup long grain rice
2 cups water
Note: These are based on imperial measurements, a guide to convert to metric can be found under Recipes > General Cooking Instructions
Add ingredients to the steamer, cook for 12 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes before opening.
These recipes were prepared using a 950 watt microwave. Cooking times will vary depending on the wattage of the microwave used.
@@mark1433Brillant man. I lost the plastic cover that goes under the clipping one .. Is that a big deal ? I had no used it in years .. Cheers ..
Never rinse rice and never stir rice while cooking it. If you need to check if the water has absorbed completely, take a spoon and gently move some of the rice aside. Also, try not to check until the cooking time is up. Opening the lid too often will interfere with the cooking process.
I don’t rinse my rice, but just about everyone will tell you that you must.
2 to 1!!! 2 full cups water for every cup of rice.
OK, I was told differently. Is there a consensus?
way too much water. Source: me. Asian .
