Best show ever! What wonderful characters. Strong women, overcoming adversity...I've watched it maybe 10 times all the way through. Love the characters.

Aunt Lou: "I pray to Jesus."
Jane: "I have no pull in that quarter." 😂

She is a good person deep inside, isn't she. Truly good in her core, in spite of her demons and the injustices and depredations visited upon her. One of my favourite hero's.

Love Jane, though the booze brings her low, doesn't it? It drowns her tears and fear though...it dulls her pain....

Yes children, us educated folks had great shows and no racism back in the day. Life was good. You can thank Obama for trying to relive the 1960s civil rights movement when everyone else was passed that.

The time period of this show was a really bad time for black people. Remember the mob tarring General Fields's shoulder just because he happens to be black, even though he had nothing to do with the events unfolded prior to that incident? Then In the movie they tried to lynch him. I imagine this was common practice during that time. But that does not mean every white person back then was a racist. I'm sure there were many decent people like Jane even in that era. But lets keep it real here. No black person in his right mind wishes the society should revert back to how it was during this time.

What great shows are you talking about? Must be talking about all white TV in the 50’s and most of the 60’s. I don’t know about the no racism back in the day. Racism is American as apple pie and it’s here to stay. I bet you still own a black and white TV to go along with your back in the day attitude.
