AK has said in several Cali-era interviews that he didn't go check on John like Flea did (Ak and John obviously had their issues with each each other), but that he knew the shape John was in so he prayed every day that John didn't die. Interesting, and it fits. When the boys reunited, issues aside, it was clear that they were definte a family, and AK couldn't stop singing about John, Purple Stain and This Velvet Glove, for example. Chad said they all shared rooms on the road and AK and John always roomed together, and Flea and Chad shared a room. And Chad says that Flea was hurt and maybe jealous that new guy John had kinda taken his place. Now, John did fall out with AK. John had poured his heart and soul into BSSM and AK was really low key, like yeah its an album. If you watch interviews from that period, you'll see how excited John is and how nonchalant AK is. Also AK, had constantly hazed John. You can see several instances on the Psychedelic Sexfunk Live from Heaven show of AK trying to embarrass John onstage and AK was calling John "Greenie" in interviews and making fun of him. Of course, the coup de gras came when AK kicked John on purpose on SNL in front of a live televised audience. John said they did not speak at all after that. Not saying that John and Flea weren't best friends before, but this is when John says the only reason he was still in the band was because he loved Flea and loved playing with him. Flea was the only one who kept up with John after he quit and was aware of the state he was in, see VPro years. AK had heard about John but had also heard that John wanted nothing to do with him.
