Christmas Eve back in early 80s, my family was peering in the window of Mr. Garman's shop when suddenly the door opened -- long story shortened -- Mr. Garman gave us a personal tour of his studio and what was a much smaller town... a memory I have always held onto -- and we did purchase a few of his sculptures.

He captured part of America and did it in a way that people have to see it. I have done model train layouts and built model buildings but not on this scale. The people sculptures alone are amazing. What a talent!

I hadn’t heard of Magic Town, so I was so happy to see this wonderful display. It was truly gratifying to see the genuine responses from you and others. He is truly a great artist and miniaturist. We (miniature artists) believe there is beauty in the details. If it’s a themed project, we keep it as close as we can. He has done that wonderfully. Not sure but to answer a question, I think this is created in 1:12 scale. There are lots of amazing houses and minis on here, (including mine); so go look at some of them. It will give you even more perspective of the amount of time, work, and artistic ability this man has. Hats off to him, and thank you for sharing it.

The lighting captured everything perfectly. It felt like standing in the room. Thank you all these years later. The realism, grittiness, poverty, represent a part of US life we prefer to ignore (politically anyway), but what can we say? It exists. The artists kind of honors those people who struggled (struggle) to live each day in less than desirable circumstances.
