With all the hype, big name players, streaks on the line and overall game itself, there will never be another National Championship game like the Texas USC.
Yeah, that was awesome - back and forth - then SC scored TD's and UT scored a couple field goals but you never thought they were out of it. And when they got that defensive stop I knew Vince would win it (BTW I'm a Hog fan - lol). If you remember that season, both UT and SC absolutely dominated everyone so it really was Clash of the Titans!!
The team that got hosed the most was Duke. Despite one of the players likely being down and one of the “backwards laterals” not being so backwards, there was literally a player off the bench, on the field with his helmet off for the last twenty yards of that TD run. Play should’ve been dead there and Duke should’ve one. That was one of the worst officiating jobs I have ever seen.
Vince Youngs performance against USC in the greatest I've ever seen in a college football championship game. Over 500 yards total offense. It was spectacular.
But people still talk about the knee. As a clemson fan, trust me, all I hear to this day is “illegal pick play”. I was a freshman, having only gone to 3 football games total, when I watched the UT-USC game. That, and the Geriatric Bowl, got me hooked on CFB.
Hello! Tommie Frazier's run in the 1995 National Championship? Johnny Rodgers punt return against OU? Man, Woman and Child how could you not have those on this list.
Being a Texas fan, witnessing Vince Young score that touchdown in arguably the best college football game ever played was one of the most exciting things I’d ever seen in sports.
And yet, it’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog my brother! I’ll never apologize for barely winning. We’ve been on the wrong side for far too long. It’s our turn now!
Johnny "The Jet" Rodgers' return touchdown against Oklahoma, Cory Schlesinger's two touchdown runs against Miami, Tommie Frazier's touchdown run against Florida, The Miracle in Missouri and Jordan Westercamp's touchdown against Northwestern
This is the greatest sport to ever exist. It's so amazing that a byproduct of its own existence is the NFL and other pro leagues. It's not a minor league but the major league.
Not having Utah beat Alabama in the 2008 Sugar Bowl is criminal. Utah at the time was the only group of 5 team to go fully undefeated and they probably could’ve won the title that year.
All these peeps wanna boo-hoo about their team. This isn't about teams at all; it's about great plays. No one is a victim here & no one cares about your team & its history, W/L record, or bad calls. Great plays. That said, VY rightfully deserves the Heisman Trophy that RB had to forfeit & eventually return. VY made Madison HS, the Hiram Clarke/Brentwood folks & all of H-town.proud. "...and goodness shall prevail over evil."
I always appreciate anyone who takes the time to put these videos together...another wonderful job but not sure why Texas A&M vs Tennessee is included....that's a fairly routine interception....some amazing choices and well done but not sure what made that one special
Let’s just talk about the first clip, this might be the perfect American football play, the national championship on the line, don’t get 5 yards and the best team in the history of the sport (until 2019 LSU) is gonna win another championship, get 5 yards or more it’s 1st and goal and the window is still very much alive, it’s touchdown or nothing, and there’s only 26 seconds left, so big time players have to make big time plays, so the underdog Texas longhorns best player takes matters into his own hands and delivers Texas the chip on a do or die play. You can’t write a script better than that.
I was at the game, such a load of crap. When I see that play or (let’s be real) the Cal Stanford kick return it just kills a list. That kick return would’ve been rightfully blown dead or overturned about 47 times today
I wish sports videos never had titles which include the phrase "...in history". Because they never go back more than a few decades and actually IGNORE most of the history of the sport. Same thing here, unfortunately.
Central Michigan has the "greatest" moments against Oklahoma State, thanks to the error. The referees give Central Michigan the football untimed after Oklahoma State penalized for intentional grounding, the game is supposed to end on a offensive penalties not defense, the refs and crew who got involved got suspended. Miami is not supposed to have the greatest moments either against Duke, because of the referees made 4 errors, knee on ground prior to releasing the football, illegal block in the back was penalty and refs say no, no penalty for a player leaving the bench, Duke was supposed to win, the refs cost them, and got suspended afterwards.
college football > any other sport
It’s minor league for the NFL
Wrong.
@@ayadali9112 nope. American Football on top.
@@irvingr.fatback886 depends on who you ask. College football environments far better than NFL. Regardless, American football>
Here come the soccer and nfl fanboys

Where was Johnny Rodgers' return in 1971? I mean it was the Game of the Century.

Boise State beating Oklahoma in the bowl game with the final play being the Statue of Liberty play... greatest game I've ever seen!

3 missed calls IIRC. Both teams were horrendous that year, so it was just some Globetrotter-level entertainment for the reels.

I will always remember the Kick Six. My dad and I were flipping through channels and found this just as the kicking team was going onto the field.
Those 2 plays that included Nebraska don’t even make the top 50 of greatest plays in Nebraska history alone lol
Hello! Tommie Frazier's run in the 1995 National Championship? Johnny Rodgers punt return against OU? Man, Woman and Child how could you not have those on this list.
Best game in a championship hands down Texas VS USC
Nebraska eeking out a win over McNeese State is one of the Greatest Moments in College Football History LOL
Hearing Rod Bramlett call the Kick Six.....emotions!
Being a Texas fan, witnessing Vince Young score that touchdown in arguably the best college football game ever played was one of the most exciting things I’d ever seen in sports.
150 years of history and they show Michigans worst moments. Unreal
"Touchdown Alabama wins" not even a Bama and it gives me chills everytime
8:51 The Blue Devils will forever regret squibbing that kick. It's in every single one of these compilations
16:20 the way it bounces to him perfectly in stride really makes it look like that’s how they drew it up
As a Michigan fan it makes me sad to see us on the wrong end of 5 of these
UGA fan bro I get it
This is from 2005 or later. Michigan has plenty of monumental moments, like the 1969 upset of OSU
Denard Robinson to Roundtree for the win against Notre Dame under the lights at the Big House should have been on here.
Same as uga fan even though Kirby the first assistant to do that to nick but whatever
Couldn’t even put the Kelee Ringo pick 6?
As a Georgia fan, I’m reminded how many horrible things happened on the long road to back-to-back national championships

I’m guessing this guy is a Missouri fan from the lack of Nebraska plays lol
Couldn't agree more - those 5 were truly "great" moments, and some of the included plays in this video were merely "good".
I remember celebrating when vince scored on usc in the championship game 😂
One of the most remembered games ever for me. You could see the momentum for Texas ESPECIALLY Vince young.
This is the greatest sport to ever exist. It's so amazing that a byproduct of its own existence is the NFL and other pro leagues. It's not a minor league but the major league.
lol i never noticed they put up the wrong final score for a quick second during lsu vs. tucky
12:51 that “oh my gosh!” Will always be funny to me

Nebraska going for 2 and the win was a great call. I’m so happy they failed.
There goes Davis!
Tommie Frazier vs Florida? Great highlights on this video but that play probably should have been be included.
Gotta show the WVU orange bowl 🤞🏾
Dude you gotta show the Kentucky coach reaction on they LSU hail may
That CMU OK State should've had the 30 second runoff for the penalty. But it was still a great play.
Watching ttun lose in the most bizarre ways......priceless!
No other sport is more electrifying
The Baylor Vs OSu Big 12 champion ship game should be on this list!!! Frfrfr
I had Texas on the ml.and the over thanks Pete for taking Bush off the field in 4th down to give the ball to lendale white 👍👍
Beck to Harline to beat Utah in the closing seconds belongs on this list.
I don’t like Texas and I despise USC, but, when I think college football, I hear this call from Keith Jackson in my head.
The Clemson play was the most egregious pick play I have ever seen. Their natty should be revoked
Yo what year was that game on when Baylor ran into the marching band on the field? 😂😂
That was Cal you uncultured swine!
Not having Kelvin Benjamin's 2013 Rose Bowl catch on here is criminal

Just need the clip of VY slamming his knee to the ground and the cheating refs refusing to call him down.
Still waiting for the refs to throw a holding flag on Texas. 😂

How do you miss A&M vs LSU?
There's some REAL underwhelming plays in here for them to be considered "greatest moments" in history.
Fr not a single moment from the 2017 rose bowl between okla and Uga that’s just one example
Why wasn't Arkansas vs #1 LSU game ending play. No time on clock.
I'm an OKST homer, I admit, but that final play should have never happened per the rules.
1990 USC 45 UCLA
Who is 21 at 6:46?
Bob Griffin Kendall Wright. I remember those losers.
Yes I am biased but should have had 1976 Oklahoma vs Nebraska and 1977 Oklahoma vs Ohio State
I AINT no MSU or OSU fan but Michigan fumbling the punt snap will forever be funny to me 😂😂😂
Before the transfer portal. When college football meant something.. I never missed a Saturday, now I don't watch.
Was Johnny Rodgers in here?? Maybe I missed it
They are only the greatest moments from a neutral perspective. If your team was on the losing end than these are the worst moments ever 😂
