“They fly now?!” Said like a hundred years after the clone wars. They always did fly
hahahaha
Yeah… but only the Fetts flew in the movies.
@@mdxque8393 how unfortunate that there is a ton of cannon material that clearly shows people can fly using technology in universe that these people should’ve known about.
@@am-bush679 General audience would not have seen them and might only know of the movies. I mean Rise of Skywalker has ALOT of problems but the “they fly now scene” isn’t one of em.
@@mdxque8393 but in universe that line makes no sense, it’s not even a purposeful 4th wall break it’s just an awful joke that makes no sense. It’s up to the audience to ask those questions. That’s how people get interested in the world.
They fly now! I mean as usual
its 2022 wheres my jetpack? and flying car? and robotwife? and cyborg kids? and talking dog?
Your expecting all that? Bitch where's my personal battlecruiser with a 100 light-years per hour FTL drive and it's accompanying fleet? Fuck me, where's my personal world and harem of alien whores?
The jetpack is too expensive, the flying car too impractical, your robot wife will still cheat on you, your cyborg kids still won't listen to you, and do you really want to know your dog's opinion of you?
and thats why men need a talking dogs so they will know when their robot wife cheats on them
You need to check out the British Navy's Jet Pack Marines, as far as I know they haven't been deployed in the field yet but there are some impressive videos of the training to board enemy/pirate held ships. It well worth a watch if your interested in that sort of thing.
Should have waited till end of video, apparently you've seen the training videos from Royal Navy, at least enough to crop a bit into this video.
Generation Tech is still my favorite Star Wars channel, great work as always
Only channel I've seen to focus on the really interesting world building.
One of the only ones I actually bother to watch.
@@DogeickBateman Geetsly is the only other channel I think gets close
@@DogeickBateman you guys should check out MetaNerdZLore. He has pretty cool videos as well
They fly now ?!
They fly now.
They fly NOW
No you are hallucinating
They fly now.
They do fly now
I think people tend to forget just how useful jetpack are as a movement tool. Yeah they ars expensive and limited, but having the ability to move an entire regiment of troops and out flank an enemy that could win an entire theatre of war is what makes it so lucrative. Plus it is quite feasible to achieve it just takes time to develop so, look at your smartphone, now look at some of the first computers ever. It took only roughly 80's years to get to what back the would of been an entire warehouse filled with machinery. Don't underestimate human enginuity. As for cost reasons just remember the U.S. military drops bombs worth millions of dollars on people who still live in huts.
The US military already developed jetpacks during Vietnam thinking they would make traversing the jungles easier. The huge issue with them was that they were loud and noisy. One of the biggest things in modern warfare is not being spotted so the enemy can't shoot you. Which is why the US military invests heavily in stealth tech and being able to spot and shoot enemies from further and further away. It's also why massive super weapons like the Maus Tank and Yamato Battleships aren't a thing anymore. They're just massive targets whose destructive capability is rather limited.
Until they can develop a very quiet, probably near silent jetpack that can be easily and safely used, and that just might not be physically possible, they'll never be a standard combat tool. It makes more sense to develop stealth drones that can blow people up from miles above the ground, or simply a drone with a gun attached to it is more likely than the military using jet packs.
Another issue of RL jet packs is stabilisation. Sci-fi is always just a main boost and magically you have full maneuvering, but like with Iron man you need to have stabilisation. In RL packs your hands are busy either being those vector attachment holders or running controls... No free hands to fire blasters
Neural implant...
Due to all that. ONLY ways to make these viable in a modern fighting force today of any kind would require either ridiculously experimental neural implants that are hit an miss buggy at best or have set weapons systems and configurations custom made to deploy and use to turn an operator into a human helo gunship without the gunship. Just the human operator, flight systems and weapons
@@robertagu5533 Basically a drone but worse.
@@aniquinstark4347 Not necessarily. They can serve different purposes. Use the aerial packs as aerial mobility platforms, then when the weapons are expired, land, dismount, and conduct ground operations. Secure a foothold, establish supply chain connections to rearm and refuel, proceed to the next objective and do the same.
Then give the jetpack sub-arm.
Jet packs with missile rockets is so badass.
Royal marines and the US Navy started trials in 2021 using jetpack to board naval vessels, I have no idea if they are currently fielding them but Its only a matter of time before niche units should realistically arrive to their field of battle by jetpack
Royal marines have them on board anti pirate petrols, but as far as I know they haven't been used for more than training.
The main difference between real and Star Wars ones is not the range, or agility. It's that the real ones require the pilot to use both hands to control the vehicle, leaving no way to hold a weapon. In Star Wars, the vehicle just magically knows on its own which way the pilot wants to go.
I think the jetpack is controlled by the HUD in the helmet, like most functions of the beskar or clone armor.
@@jus7040 And how would you control it from there? Blinking can happen randomly (you wouldn't want to launch a missile when you have some random itch) and eyeball tracking is similarly stupid, because people need to be able to look. Humans don't control the tip of the nose well enough. So that leaves the tongue. And actually, some paralized people do use a purpose-built stick in their mouth to control computer keyboards and touch-sensitive screens. But that still seems like a weird way to control anything, considering that they may need to talk while flying. "controlled by the HUD" still means that the flight computer magically knows where to go. A HUD is not a physically interactable thing. It's just a screen.
starwars computing is so advanced droids require hard wiring to prevent going independent.
a hands off flight control is relatively primitive
but anyway starwars is a space opera , its not normal scifi.
it has a lot of confusion.
its very difficult to scientificaly connect to anything
@@cedriceric9730 If that were the case (regarding your first statement), then ships would come without control sticks/columns as well, there'd simply be no need for them. JetPacks are just plot devices, as it's obviously clear to anyone that there'd be no way to control them, they just do whatever the character (the writer really) needs it to do at any given moment, and that's that.
Most stuff like that is controlled via neural plants/interfaces and control huds, stuff like that.
the humble jetpack: it is a thing of beauty, and gets you from point A to point B quickly.
it also comes with an unexpected (and often unrealized) side benefit of being able to say: "Silence, ground walker!" - Eddie Riggs, shortly after getting the ability to fly in Brütal Legend.
They fly now?
Oh they fly now!
@Generation tech I haven’t watched for awhile h but I hope you guys get a million subs one day, because your one of my favorite Star Wars channels.
Btw I also like your beard
Neither the 322nd nor the 2nd Airborne were jetpack units. The 2nd Airborne were paratroopers while the 322nd simply wasn't an special unit in any way.
Both unit used it at one point, I think the clones in both unit had jet pack training so they can use it if needed
@@salmonboyli2002 We have seen certain members of the 322nd use it, so yes there may have been some individuals, but the whole company? no. and the 2nd airborne not at all, it has only appeared in ROTS actually
They do look cool.
Great video! At some points it felt like the background music was drowning out your voice tho
Big brain Mando made the Jawa not want a jetpack ever again
You can't fly in a coffin
I got a question. who would win in a fight Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) or Sam Wilson (with the Captain America/Falcon Suit). Mando has the all his equipment Jetpack, the Amban phase-pulse blaster rifle , the whistling birds, IB-94 blaster pistol and the Darksaber and Sam has the Wakandan upgraded version of the EXO-7 along with Redwing, the Captain America shield, and the Twin Guns. Who would win?
Hm...I don't think Falcon's guns could defeat Beskar. Not sure if Din's weapons would defeat the Falcon suit armor. I think Falcon has an edge in mobility.
I feel that the only flaw to them is that it is basically an a critical target for blasters.
9:12 I know this is a Star Wars video, but when he said that, I immediately thought of the scene in Star Trek: First Contact, when Data jumps from the higher level down to the ground next to the Phoenix while Lily is shooting a machine gun at him.
"They fly now?!"
*pinches nose ridge*
Manalorians are the coolest faction in Star Wars by far.
Since like 2017/18 I’ve followed a company when they were unheard of, Gravity. They make jet packs but one on each limb. Prior to me seeing them tho, I’ve had ideas to make jet packs since a kid, first being upside down / liter cokes & mentos. And I believe I can make a semi real working Iron Man suit. If I just had the proper equipment 😫
Good episode. I look forward to watching ya'll videos everyday. No matter what the topic is, serious or funny. It's always enjoyable. 👍
The drone operator on the British video was called Ben Kenobi
I can imagine clones and Mandalorians training with jet packs like it’s jetpack joyride
Interesting... Disney canon diverging from "Legends" again - the original Jet Packs were much less effective, being limited to short bursts due to low fuel capacity. Boba certainly couldn't fly, but his pack gave him one hell of a jump!
Wonder how they control the jetpack anyway? Is it connected to the helmet?
Yep
Helmet, wrist, and moving there legs.
No. If you watch closely you'll see Pre Viszla fly without wearing his helmet whilst wielding the darksaber. The helmet has nothing to do with it (excepts for displaying one's velocity, altitude, rate of ascent/descent whilst flying it, I'd assume).
It hasn't been properly explained how they are controlled, they're just plot devices for convenience.
Most likely neural interface or implant.
THANKX ALAN - AWESOME
We have a jetpack that can fly for 30 minutes
A guy flew around the statue of liberty
New GT video!!!
More great content 👌
It’s the burned ass and legs I would be worried about especially no capes
Wouldn't they be more of an air assault then airborne?
Yeah, I think the name/classification is inspired by the real life airborne/paratroopers.
Engines become less efficient and effective at higher altitude because of the decreased air density. The modern jet packs are just smaller jet engines. Again, at higher altitudes the thrust produced is less which means it possibly would not be able to climb in altitude with the weight it could at lower altitudes.
If Jango decided to just use the flamethrower or fly away from Mace Windu with his jetpack or even doing both, he most likely will survived. So why he didn't do that? He should have known that kept firing him with just a blaster is not going to change the outcome, especially if the enemy is completely concentrated on him and is not being distracted by someone else like the Jedi named Coleman Trebor that he took out earlier when the guy was trying to kill Count Dooku..
He tried to fly away. The jetpack was damaged and failed to work. It's because of that Jango wasn't able to get out of the way in time.
@@CloudyNight2156 He can still use flamethrower, right?
@@lerneanlion possibly. We don't know if he had anymore fuel for it or not. I'm simply of the mind he was out though.
@@lerneanlion Flamethrowers tend to burn out really fast so like Cloudy said, he prolly ran out of juice, switched to the blaster, couldn't nail Sam Jackson in time and was unceremoniously decapitated.
mando gear doesn't match jedi , especially a master .
it just a makes them more slippery.
one small error and the jedi wins
You're right Alan, operational altitude is a weak point of jetpack tech of modern times. However it's more due to lack of range than a lack of performance. Going higher is usually easier than going farther
They actually fly now since a long while?!?
Jetpacks are what got me into Star Wars!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩
I’ll try the high ground maneuver(jet pack) that’s a good trick
11:15 Prepare to board!
Hello there friends welcome back to another episode of Generation Tech my name is David
I find your lack of mentions of Mando slug throwers disturbing.
This video is about jetpacks, not weapons.
They fly now?
THEY FLY NOW!!!
I'd say that the main issue holding us back is the lack of an energy dense fuel. The Mandos must've solved this problem.
"My backpack, got jets. I'm Boba, the Fett."
*I LOVE MANDOS!*
Eventually we will have packs to just junp over to the store
As schlock mercenary said. Low flying infantry are called skeet

Can you please continue the separatist alliance vs earth series please
I think that jetpacks are cool
"I gotta get me one of those."
The 332nd company I don't see it as a unit supporting the file 1st because the file 1st was not present in there's not present in it at all in the siege for mandalore Only saw a 3rd and 32nd company being reinforced by troopers you know freaking wearing 5 of the 1st blue markings and the ones with no markings on their face to armor 2
Imagine jumping out of a pane only to cut your parachute 100 or so ft off the ground to use your jet pack😂
I understand that gravity are working on an electric jet hybrid engine which could be effective I don't know how that would work but it's what the guy said he was looking into for the future
honestly, we can barely trust people driving a car, can we really trust people to not fly into anything or just fall cause of improper usage?
No
I’m from the lake district! 🤙
Wow
So, in short: They fly now?!?
One question I have about the sequels is if Kylo ren was finishing what his grandfather started why did Anakin not talk to him like Han did in the rise of sky walker also how was Han a force ghost
I’m pretty sure Kylo was hallucinating Han.
I got to get me one of those.
Why were the you sang vung so deadly?
the best mandalorian melee weapon would be a lightsaber
for long range it would be rockets/explossives and blasters
i really put jetpacks in star wars above normal republic infantry simply because a republic with a jetpack that fought like a mando was a moving flying duck
while a normal republic infantry was a sitting duck
thats all that distinguishes them
in mobility in combat and advantages and opening opportunities that regular clones wouldent have
They fly now????
☠☠☠☠☠
What do you call flying infantry? "Skeet."

Actually your wrong. CZcams the gravity industries jetsuit. It's been used in special operations and stuff
Just think how the military would use a star wars jetpack as well as law enforcement and like you said rescue ops 2
An off the wall thought...what would happen if "Q" from Star Trek showed up in the Start War universe?
There are gods that do exist in Star Wars in the old EU comics so he wouldn't be the first god like being to be in it. Though he'd probably be more active in his shenanigan's then the existing ones.
@@phoenixx913 I know it's silly but it's a entertaining idea to think about seeing Q stripping Vader of powers and toying with him...lol

they fly now?
"ThEy FlY nOw" bruh, they've been flying since the 70s, like come on...
Never thought about it before, but if the kaminoans had so much experience cloning, how would they have so little experience w human physiology? Humans and near humans are the most populous species in the galaxy. So the aihwa bait specialized in what, ithorians before that?
Probably because most clients wanted something more fearsome then an army of cloned humans. Or most clients just wanted to clone rare creatures to hunt, stuff like that plus most people didn't even know they existed except for the wealthiest and most powerful individuals.
I also don't think they ever cloned an army much less a human one on the scale that they did the GAR.
@@phoenixx913 maybe. Iirc (and this is now legends, so...) it was mentioned that they did workforce and hostile environment, plus I think combat was mentioned as well.
I was mainly thinking that humans were the most populous, so you would imagine that's where the most work would be.
We can create them but the problem is power. You could use jet fuel to power it
Would imagine in their verse something like a hyper efficient plasma fuel or perhaps even a ridiculously tiny nuclear reactor fuels these portable things... How can it be explained we never see Boba, Jango or ANY Mandalorian ever refilling the things... Not even mentioned as in scene random banter between random characters. Extra or main star alike.
Unless maybe they pull their hidden fuel caches out and refill them at night when everyone else is asleep or something...
Would imagine, due to ONLY using their packs for positioning and little or nothing else... Is why your average Mandalorian airborne is in their element and it's like trying to shoot down Iron Man with your side arm instead of a high easy target. Mandalorians are seen repeatedly incorporating their packs into their fight strategy. Like on Kamino when Jango shot his grapple whip to ensnare Obi's wrist and then yanked him across the flight deck with his pack. Or the attached missile launcher that's been shown in use more then once. An just think their ancients used to forcibly give you one of these for losing and taught you to use it too if they thought you was honorable an proved worthy enough.
