Chee Dale Stepping Stone Walk | Peak District

  • Down in the Peak Districts secluded Chee Dale, you can find not 1 but 2 sets of stepping stones. In my opinion these are the best stepping stones to be found in the Peak (even better than Dove Dale). Taking you across sections of the River Wye where the cliffs cut in and loom over head, these sections make for exciting walking and beautiful scenery.
    But that's not all you can see on this walk. Various sections both on and below the Monsal Trail show off the river, tall bridges, abandoned buildings and nature in abundance.
    A great short walk suitable for all ages, this Peak District classic is a must.

    Early Thom Topics, very satisfying to see how the channel and video quality has evolved

    Will be heading here in April when stopping in Buxton (thanks for the video and info) Dovedale is lovely but very busy even on rainy days. I'd say I prefer the look of Cheedale.

    I was there with a couple of friends last Sunday. Started at Bakewell and we turned off the trail between the two Chee Tor tunnels and on the path you have shown. Absolutely beautiful location and one you can spend all day on.

    Hey Thom, lovely location for a walk. I've been meaning to visit Chee Dale for sometime now but haven't quite made it there yet. It's great seeing vids like yours, it makes me want to put on my hiking boots and go in search of new places to explore. Thank you! xx

      Thats amazing Rachel, very kind of you to say. I am glad my videos can give some kind of inspiration. Chee Dale is well worth making the time for a visit. This walk didn't take very long but you have plenty of options to extend it to a longer walk to Cressbrook (next weeks video) or further up the trail to Monsal dale/Monsal Head.

    I did actually watch this some weeks back, but have just watched it again after I see you shared it on Lou and Lol's FB page 😊 Another great video. You certainly picked the best time to walk through Chee Dale, i.e. a weekday evening. I made the mistake of going there last May on a Sunday and it was absolute bedlum with the amount of people. Still a great walk though! 😂 Hope you enjoyed your beer at the Anglers Rest. Not been there for some years now, but it used to be a regular lunchtime venue for me and my partner when she was working in Buxton. Have a great weekend 👍

    Ahh the lovely Chee Dale, we loved it when we went there last year. Yes the rocks around that area can be quite slippy, I think it had been raining on the day we went (video in our playlist but it was taken with the old camera). Definitely think these stepping stones are more enjoyable than the ones at Dovedale, especially with their being two sets. Great video 👍👍

      Its just a really nice quiet spot (at least on a week day evening) more so than Dovedale, although Dovedale is beautiful. Glad you enjoyed the video smile

    Think Dovedale stepping stones are more dramatic

    • @ThomTopics
      @ThomTopics  Před měsícem

      thats a fair comment. If you were to ask me again now which I preferred I would probably say that the dovedale stepping stones are in a more dramatic setting 👍
