This way is useful to me, but if your pc is unbootable you can use Aomei to backup and restore also helpful.
This is why it is important to create a Recovery Drive as soon as you reach the Windows Desktop on a new PC. The Recovery Drive on a flash drive will contain and give the the user access to the Advanced settings that will allow the user to either reinstall Windows or install a System Image.
Hi. I have question. So, these back up files, are they ready to put the to Recovery partition on my PC? Or i need to do something else with them, to change/convert them?
This is an excellent tutorial. No distracting music and a complete step by step demonstration. Thank you. I have subscribed.
Thanks Sir for providing the great instructions. It's so helpful for I'm a Senior learning.
Could you take the next step and show a full recovery from the items you just created? I keep seeing how to back up my computer but none on the recovery from the disc and data you backed up. Thank you.
There are tons of videos out there.
I don't think he can and I have found Zero vifeo on the subject, because it's sucks like Microsoft. Repair disk won't boot (disable secure boot in UEFI), ext drive with image won't be recognized, etc...
Excellent, thanks!
Hi may I ask if i need another HDD to install in my PC for the system image cuz whenever I refresh on "where I want to save my back up", my primary HDD didn't appear. btw I have only one HDD in my PC
Hello , its been a week im trying to perform a backup like you did. But it always fail for some reason. I tried 6 different usb drive with different file format and it always says theres not enough space on the drive and its no sense because i tried 5 hdd with 2tb of space and 1 with 5 tb of space . So i dont understand whats the problem. Do you have an idea ? Because i did like 100 of system image on windows 7 and it always worked but on wwin10 it just saying theres not enough space. I even tried multiple dvd and it says theres not ennough space on the dvd..its like it do not understand i could burn multiple dvds for the backup....he just dont let me doing a system image...im totally lost
Can you store more than one image on an external drive? Can you use a thumb drive? Can you make the restore disc on a thumb drive if your computer has no optical drive? I ask because I have multiple computers.
Work for me! You the man!
How much storage is needed for the repair disk? I'm just wondering if I can just use a regular 16/32gb flashdrive for that...
This way worked but later I found ao mei backup is a better alternative for this one.
Can I Backup into ONEDRIVE only? Due to, I didn't have a External drive available. Please advice. Thank you!
But what do I do if it keeps asking me to 'create blank media larger then 1GB'??
The flash disk is newly formated to ntfs just like it is supposed to be
Thank you for such great information. This is what i really need to know in terms of maintaning my system and make it sustainable.
I have questions:
1. Do "Backup Drive (B:)" and "Repair disc Windows 10 64 Bit" have the exact function? Or is it different in some way? Please elaborate the difference between them :D
2. When our PC/Laptop crashes, how exactly the steps we need to do to "restore/recall" the system image we created? Especially using the "Backup Drive (B:)" in your case. Or in my case, it is my 1TB Seagate External Hardisk.
Thank you before i hope you have time to answer me
*Please Read* Will this work to install programs onto multiple computers with identical hardware?
Thank you for your tutorial, it's useful to me, and I also tried aomei which is great.
Thanks, done!
I do a new system image every month. I did a repair disk last year. Could I use the old repair disk or should I make a new one every time I create a system image?
Thank you!
Thanks!
thank you!!
I backup and restore my os with aomei backupper which is really a nice tool for me.
This propaganda bot is annoying. Its on every windows recovery video
To Windows 11 & Windows 10 Guru,
On 1:04 - 1:17, Is there a difference between clicking 'Create a system image' to 'Set up back-up'?
I was wondering which two chosen backup route is better?
I have the same doubt. .
Do you have any links to DVD/ cd you used? I have the DVD +R but I but it's not enough space and I went out to by one but they are under 5gb.
The step of the process you're talking about does not require a lot of storage space(I believe it only needs to be about 3GB). I would recommend using a USB for the system image repair disc. The part of the process that requires a lot of storage is the system image backup. The backup is the drive in which you will be copying over all the programs, applications, downloads, etc. The system image repair disc simply allows you to reinstall Windows from scratch onto your computer (after which you would use the backup drive to restore all your data). Let me know if anyone else has questions or issues.
Does creating the system image delete whatever was already on your external hard drive? I save lots of extra large files like videos on my SSD, but don't wanna risk them being deleted when creating this system image. Can they exist together on my SSD given there's enough space for all of it?
Creating a system image on your external hard drive will not delete what's currently on it. It will simply make a new folder with the system image in it.
@@joshuahanson5233 However, creating a system repair disk (the second step in the video at the 3:53 timestamp) will indeed delete everything IF you choose to use a USB thumbdrive instead of DVD disks. So make sure to back up all your files from that USB stick. Also, using a USB thumbdrive/USB stick instead of DVDs is more convenient since you can just get a 64GB or 128GB USB stick and avoid using multiple DVDs to create the system repair "disk".
The only problem using an USB thumbdrive will be that you won't be able to use it for anything else: you won't be able to store other files there since, if you do so, you might risk damaging the system repair drivers, so be sure to use one you just bought or a spare one you have that has at least 64GB, just to be sure.
@@ticktockbam thanks for the commentary. I can't find the option to create the repair disc on a hard drive (usb), only accessible to create on a disc. Am I found something wrong?
Does that backup only windows system? or it backups stored documents and files and programs and games too? so after recovery from backup would I get everything back?
I'm nearly certain it copies all of your data over. Applications, downloads, programs, drivers, etc.
If I create 2 partitions on an external ssd and put the image on one partition and the system repair disk on the other partition would there be anything wrong with that? Would I run into issues when I try to restore the image?
seems like I can only make a system repair disc on a CD/DVD it won't let you choose anything other than that. What is the alternative here if I want to use solid state memory?
@@hobomnky czcams.com/video/1Hskx24JQNA/video.html
@@hobomnky I'm pretty sure you can use a memory stick USB instead of having to use multiple DVDs.
This way is still useful for Win11, we could still use the backup and restore from Win7, and also easier with aomei backupper to backup my system which I've used for long time.
Great instructions, but I'm on DVD #5 of a system image backup and still running. Wish you had mentioned how many disks it might take.
DVD #5, That's nothing I'm on floppy disc #255
Well just think about it. If you have 60GB of data and each DVD is 4.7GB, then its going to take 12 DVDs. Just use an old hard drive and buy a SATA7 to USB converter.
very good video
THANK YOU! Are there any steps you would take when hit with a ransom e-mail?
you mean ransomware? if that's what you meant no
If your files are encrypted then no. If you know the name of the ransomware, their are tips online how to circumvent them.
If your files get encrypted by ransomware then you might find a solution somewhere on CZcams or on Google. If not, they're gone. In that case, watch a video on how to restore a system image on CZcams if you have done the steps in this video prior to getting the ransomware, it will get rid of the virus but it won't get you your files back.
Can i take the recovery disc to abother pc to repair?
Thanks
Hi bro
I have a new hard samsung 870 evo but there is no create a system image option. Only create a system repair disc.
Great information. Can you make a system repair disk on a usb or external HDD?
I don't understand I did exactly as you show my disc C is 250GB and has only windows on it - 50GB used 200 free and I have 1TB disc D with 600GB free space and I wanted to do image on that disc and I have error msg saying there is not enough space to do image? how come? there was info earlier that this backup won't take more than 52GB and I gave him 600GB free space on disc D and he's saying its not enough................ for a 52GB backup.. wtf
I don't have a disk or extra storage drives. Can I make a recovery drive to do the same thing as a repair disk? And if that's the case, can I save them on the same external hard drive?
I don't believe that you can make the system recovery drive and the repair disk on the same external drive. I recommend using a 5GB USB for the system repair disc, and a cheap hard drive that has enough storage for your data when making the system recovery drive.
@@seaborg9946 I looked into it a little. I think you can partition a hardrive into at least two separate drives (divinded into like Drive P and Drive Q for example). But I think that partition is permanent. So I just bought a 16 GB thumbdrive for the Recovery Drive. I think for my system it said a minimum of 12 GB so I couldnt use any of my 8GB stragglers.
@@jordanb7304 hey Jordan, and does the recovery drive feature really does the same as the repair disk?
what do I do if it fails to back up?
I did this (system image) on 1 machine without creating a repair disk. I created a recovery or repair disc on a 2nd machine that is also Win 10. Can I use this 2nd machine disc to get access to the 1st machine The only difference is that one is a intel and the other is a amd? Thanx in advance.
Yes, you should be able to do so, as long as the two computers have the same operative system, for example: both computers running Windows 10 *and* both computers running on 64 bits.
I don't have a disc drive so how do i create a system rapair disc. It won't seem to let me select a USB drive to create one on.
Same problem here.
Can a repair disc be a USB jump drive?
so my process did not go so well, first off what the hell is a blank media file and why is it including my G drive when it should not be essential for booting windows (that i know off) other then that nice video, i would not have made the system recovery disc if you had not said it was important
My NTFS usb just says it doesnt work.
Now a days we don't have a CD disc on laptop. So how should I make a copy of repair disc?
For making the System Recovery Disc use a USB drive. It will work the same. (I recommend the USB to be about 5GB)
Will this work if the hard drive is replaced
I'm not an expert but I believe it would, assuming the new one is of sufficient capacity. It may give you an additional pop-up prompt to format the new hard drive prior to the backup image file being restored back to your computer. (Will probably come up automatically when you do the restore.)
✔️
but i dont have a cd drive, how am I supposed to make a system repair disc without a cd drive?
Same doubt here.
This worked for me with a 6TB external drive.
On my MSI. The boot is F3.
0:43 this is not what I see in April 2020.
True.. i just cannot believe WHY those suckers keep fucking up what worked.. it is clearly asking me for a USB stick and it will format it.. so I cannot use my usual 4 TB external disk..it was so easy to use this as a regular backup..
Yeah that's the super easy part, what about part 2 "Restore image, booting from the restore disk", it's full of tricks and MS non sense.
You could have accessed the old windows 7 backup tool directly from the option below file history. You are just taking a detour to get there :).
BUT....
Please people be warned. WIndows "backup and restore Windows 7" is the biggest piece of software garbage ever coded. DO NOT USE IT.
You will see weird stuff like Windows copying all your games from a game drive, or large movie files into your system backup, effectively creating unnecessary obese backups that can be 3, 4, 5 times larger than necessary. You will also experience regular backup failures. Backups will take hours to create and then fail in the last minute or so. All kinds of other software can cause it to fail during backups, like for example Microsoft's own Onedrive.
This software is pure horror !!!!!! That is why Microsoft wants to get rid of it.
Just use a simple piece of free system backup software like Macrium Reflect.
It is extremely reliable, it will never fail, it will only copy what is needed, it will do a full system backup in 10 minutes or so, and it will create backups that are much smaller. You have the option to precisely choose what you need, or you can let Macrium intelligently choose the partitions that are needed for a quick system restore.
Macrium Reflect can also add a boot option to your boot menu, or create an emergency dvd, or usb. It is a marvelous piece of software.
At the moment I still use the free version myself, because I do not need to create incremental backups per se. I just have a few full backups on an external HDD. And if there ever was a piece of software that is worth buying then this surely is it.
As of today Feb 6 2022 2T HDD 53$ WALMART they aren't solid state

" So as you see, it is not a direct path, but we are finally here" .... maybe thats why bill gates wife got divorced from him. Why is this hidden in there?! TY for the video, i was not able to find the address myself
Just wanted to add a small bit of info on the Windows10 Services that need to be active to avoid any errors during the creation of a Recovery Drive, System Image, Full Backup including a System Image and System Restore Points.
*Block Level Backup Engine Service (Manual) Will run automatically as needed.*
*Volume Shadow Copy (Automatic)*
*Windows Backup (Manual) Will run automatically as needed.*
*Windows Event Log (Automatic)*
*Workstation (Automatic)*
Finally figuring out that disabling Workstation (A No, No) is what kept me from creating a successful Restore Point and Backup including System Image. With these services enabled, there will Zero issues with System Restore, Creating a Recovery Drive, Creating a System Image and Creating a Full Backup with System Image Included. Hope this helps anyone reading this comment. 😉👍
[EDIT] If you're running Windows 11 also include this service to the services listed above.
*Work Folders (Manual) Will run automatically as needed.*
Now open *Programs and Features* and select *Turn Windows Features on or off.*
Scroll all the way to the bottom and make sure *Work Folders Client* is selected.
Thank you so much for sharing this important info 🙏🏻😊
@@R3548 You're welcome. FYI: I love sharing information and do it all the time. 🙂👍
I’m starting to really hate windows. My computer will not boot up and I’m trying to fix the operating system and nothing allows me to reinstall it. How can I create or install a system image on a computer that will not boot up?
