    In total, the UTIMCO has $8,125,888 in investments linked to the IDF and the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
    A 2017 Texas law prevents the state’s public agencies from investing in companies that boycott Israel. It is also illegal for agencies to invest in “financial companies who boycott certain energy companies” under a 2021 law, and the same applies for investing in companies that “discriminate” against firearms companies. The State of Texas has its own investments, which include nearly $100 million in Israeli bonds. Abbott also introduced a rule requiring state agencies boycott goods from the Gaza Strip or any organization with ties to Hamas.

    Follow the money
    Endowments, tuition fees, research grants, alumni donations and other revenue streams contribute towards financial stability and support their educational aims. As of the 2021/22 academic year, Ivy League institutions generated $40.61 billion in total revenue.
    The federal government provides enormous subsidies to the wealthiest universities by paying “overhead” on research grants. Ivy League universities received $1.8 billion for government-funded research grants despite having $192 billion in endowment funds.
    Universities take taxpayer grants, endowments, and tuition, and invest it in weapons companies. These weapon companies give HUGE donations to POLITICIANS.
    The universities then take the BILLIONS of profits and give them to countries like Israel that then uses the money to buy weapons from those same weapons companies who then GIVE MORE donations to POLITICIANS.
    This is why ALL these America POLITICIANS are smearing ANYONE that recommends divestment.
    They don’t care who dies so long as the money keeps rolling.

    The "Anarchist" reporter had me rolling. His lack of appreciation for anarchy when it directly affects his well being is so very rich. He loved it when it was other people's property and wellbeing being destroyed. F him in particular.
    As for everyone with a phone camera now being press I can only say that when everyone is press no one is press. Actual journalists practice journalism. A pursuit distinct from that of Influencer or politician or the average breakfast photo artist. We need to see that cops that arrest and charge accredited journalists with riot face the consequences of interfering with this constitutional right. Stiff consequences that as they used to say, makes it on the news.

      ¿ What do you mean by 'actual journalists,' those who are co-opted and financed by the U.S State Department/Intelligence services and financed by major corporations ? When mainstream journalism, which it seems that you uniquely advocate for is compromised by the U.S State Department & the armaments industry; how can you expect to get unbiased news, which doesn't follow the narrative and interests of those financiers/overseers.

    If every protester held up a camera and identified themselves as press, would you have a protest? I have seen many protest where protesters are directly in front of law enforcement holding a cellphone impeding the actions of law enforcement. Are they protesters or irresponsible press members? When you stand in with the rioters who are being subject to less than lethal force being used, you might get hit. I have seen individuals throw objects at police while holding cellphones "documenting ", are they protesters or journalists? Law enforcement are put in harms way by procedures. The press (some) chooses to place themselves in harms way, accept the outcome of your foolish choice. A press credential is not greater than a law enforcement badge, you also have a responsibility to act professionally. If you are having to say you are press to avoid harm, you made a bad choice, don't stand where the bombs are falling

    • @gracieb.3054
      @gracieb.3054 Před 22 dny

      "Law enforcement are put in harms way by procedures." How are law enforcement put in harms way by journalists? That's ridiculous. The free press doing their job, as they are required, entitled and enabled to do by our Constitution is deemed by yourself a "foolish choice". Our Constitution says otherwise. This is why there is freedom of the press.
      It isn't your job to try to distinguish between someone who is press or someone documenting on a cell phone. As long as they aren't doing something illegal, you don't have any business stopping them. And a person recording you doesn't entitle you to treat a human being as an object in your way. It should also be easy to tell when it's a member of the press corps when they repeatedly shout, or, as in this case, tries to shout "Press" at you. There is a difference between an accidental run in with someone, and acts of aggression aimed deliberately at Press.
      Frankly, it's transparent that you're simply making justifications for abuse of power and it's obvious when law enforcement is angered (like yourself) b/c their abusive behavior is being documented by anyone.
      It's standard abuser reasoning to try and reverse victim and offender. If you didn't want to get stabbed, why did you stand in the way of my knife? What a bad choice to stand in front of my knife!
      That's some bad logic there. Don't stand where the bombs are falling? Here's news for you. This isn't a war; you are not in a warzone. So don't treat civilians as combatants.
      There's also standard law that law enforcement have to follow, or do you not know that? Police are not supposed to willfully disregard the life of innocent people in pursuit of an agenda. And you wonder why trust and respect for police officers are at an all time low?

    • @michaelrobinson4821
      @michaelrobinson4821 Před 22 dny

      @gracieb.3054 I have heard many of journalists while reporting say "we need to move" and still be able to report.
      I wrote that law enforcement have procedures they must follow, rules, and those rules include the use of weapons and when and whom to use them on. I know there are those that violate those rules and should be held accountable.
      Don't you think there should also be some procedures, rules, training, etc,vent of the for journalists to responsible report the event without being the event of the report?
      Clean up both sides.
      I appreciate the conversation. Thank you.
