  • This week I test 4-ish cheap toy RC controllers

    These are some interesting options. Thanks for putting this video out!
    I will say, I’ve gone undefeated for two tournaments in the 1lb class running a wedge on controller option no.2. That one is intuitive for some people and with the right robot speed it works amazingly. It even failsafes!
    There is a version of no.2 with a left/right stick, but I have no idea if it mixes the channels or not.

      Oh that is good to know!
      If its intuitive for some people then it definitely could be useful
      Congrats on being undefeated

      @@TeamPanicRobotics its incredibly intuitive, at least for me, its the exact same controls as the lego tanks I used to make as a kid and its the only type of control I can actually drive anything with skid steering with, tho it shocked me to learn that its not verry common nowdays on the high end

    for the second controller, I never understood why people dont like that style of comands, its the ONLY style of comands that I can accept for skid steering, am verry proficient in it and I am totally unable to use 1 stick to control both driving and turning, like, I cant go forward, idk how to push a stick forward and have it go only forward, and then I have to think extra as its 2 commans on the same stick which is super confusing for a skid steering system...

    Nice video showing super-cheap options. But yeah I would definitely go with Flysky controllers. Although I was wondering if LORA could be used for building Combat Robot controllers...

    • @TeamPanicRobotics
      @TeamPanicRobotics  Před 2 lety +1

      I hadnt heard of LORA but I just looked it up.
      Most rules state digital spread spectrum radios must be used, but it seems like LORA might meet that, IDK, if the rules have a stipulation about the bandwidth of the transmission then it wont be usable

    • @AdityaPrakash-kt3rf
      @AdityaPrakash-kt3rf Před 2 lety

      @@TeamPanicRobotics I see, then it depends on the events and I might need to speak with the organizers whether it's allowed. I wanted to look into LORA because it works over super long distances so I thought that this would help me make a Long Distance Remote control, although it might need to be line of sight.

    Could the beeping buttons on the best choice be some sort of range/deadzone adjustment for each stick? Looks like a really great way to get started, especially for younger/less experienced builders :)

    I was considering building a couple of ants as a tester "robotics group" idea and wondered if i bought 2 of the chosen controller and receivers would they conflict with each other or can they tell the difference from each other?

    • @TeamPanicRobotics
      @TeamPanicRobotics  Před rokem

      Unfortunatly I cant say for sure, as I only have 1 of each.
      They all seem to have some kind of bind mode, so in theory they should not conflict with each other but I cant guarantee that

      @TeamPanicRobotics  Před 2 lety +1

      Haha yeah for sure! if you look online you can find a bunch of things that look mostly like, but not quite a nunchuck.
      Seems to be a popular thing to clone in china

      Thats interesting, I never had any lag with my NRF stuff, but I moved away from it for weight and lazyness reasons

      @@TeamPanicRobotics Well it mostly lags through walls.
      Also I switched to an Arduino with a built-in nRF chip so maybe it's that.

      Hmmm, maybe, I've recently got an arduino with built in nrf, I'll have to test it for lagging at some point
