    People often think their code must be perfect when open sourcing, but you don't just open source it once. You open source it and then you or someone else fixes the stuff that needs fixing. Just open source it.

    • @TeamPanicRobotics
      @TeamPanicRobotics Před dnem

      sure, But these dont fail safe. Yes they are only running 1s and servo powered weapons, but something that does not fail safe can still cause issues If the problem with the code was anything other then this, I'd release it as is, but personally I will NEVER release code that I know does not fail safe a moving robot

  • @Synth_DIY

    Did you have much issue hard mounting things to the servos over such a long time period? Overloading etc.?

    • @TeamPanicRobotics
      @TeamPanicRobotics Před dnem

      somewhat, Kids wiggled the hammers a lot, basically spamming the button which had a habit of backing the screws out of the servo horn, leading to the horn popping off (which didnt happen on the lifters) I also had 2 servos break on the hammers over the weekend, both just got jammed, not sure how or why that happened For v2 I'm going to remove the servos and use n20s for the weapons instead to increase the reliability

    • @Synth_DIY
      @Synth_DIY Před 22 hodinami

      @@TeamPanicRobotics I had a couple break on a 2 servo grappler quite quickly in. Ended up working out a soft mounting system with tiny elastic bands that's lasted a years worth of fights so far. Arm screws in at the bottom with small plastic bands held at the top of the horn, you can adjust them for how much of a buffer you need.

    • @TeamPanicRobotics
      @TeamPanicRobotics Před 11 hodinami

      those servos must not like being jammed and trying to move further then the arm will let them A soft mount sounds like a great way to go, I'll keep that in mind

    • @TeamPanicRobotics
      @TeamPanicRobotics Před dnem

      They where really popular which was great to see haha yeah, kids wiggling the hammers backed the screws out a lot, but I'll take that as the "major" failure of them for the event (and its an easy fix for v2)

    One issue you can encounter with the switch is that the glue comes lose during fight. Then after powering off, the pads can move around and sporadically power the robot up. I would not trust the power off state to just glue.

  • @xPoN3dx
    @xPoN3dx Před 14 dny

    I feel like that would do better if the weapons where angled ever so slightly out. They seemed to miss contact alot

    • @TeamPanicRobotics
      @TeamPanicRobotics Před 14 dny

      leaving aside the difficulty of angling both out in different directions and keeping the chassis ridged and in weight Why do you think angling the weapons will increase contact? Especially over other options like a size increase or speed increase

    • @xPoN3dx
      @xPoN3dx Před 14 dny

      @TeamPanicRobotics it seems when your base makes contact the weapon doesn't quite reach. A small amount of angle, or weapon size "might" give you that 1 to 2 mm difference. There are probably multiple ways to do it. That's what I first thought of to be honest. (Side note, will you be at the motorama event in PA? If so, I'm looking forward to fighting you there. 1lb class)

    • @TeamPanicRobotics
      @TeamPanicRobotics Před 14 dny

      I think weapon size might be the easiest way to go, something to think about for v2 Unfortunately not, while I enjoy traveling to the States to fight, its expensive and time consuming so I can only do it infrequently

      @xPoN3dx Před 14 dny

  • @PeterNLewis
    @PeterNLewis Před 15 dny

    Do you think it is beneficial having the front and back weapons? Would it be better to just have a twice as powerful weapon on one side? Or is the defence of the back worth the weight?

    • @TeamPanicRobotics
      @TeamPanicRobotics Před 14 dny

      This design is explicitly a clone of the Hacksmiths Orbitron, the reason it has two weapons is because Orbitron has two weapons There is a lot of debate about weather two weapons is beneficial or not, Yes they are less impactful, but you do get offence on both sides and in this case, the two weapons cancel out each others gyroscopic force making the robot turn better when the weapons are at full speed I think as long as the two weapons can be made powerful enough to be effective its worth at least trying

  • @TimInertiatic
    @TimInertiatic Před 15 dny

    I like the idea of using the PCBs as actual PCBs instead of wiring. Route power and signal through the actual chassis Could you have a fly lead for charging so the battery can be charged in the bot?

    • @TeamPanicRobotics
      @TeamPanicRobotics Před 15 dny

      that might help, would need to be a fairly complex pcb and I dont know how the traces will go with the shock loads, but I'll have a think about it Thats a good idea, but I was very out of space in the build, I might look at adding one to v2
