- Nhl hockey 2024 - Boston bruins vs toronto maple leafs game a possible round 1 playoff preview but this one was all boston. Brad marchand and david pastrnak are the central names there and they came to play, especially 88, you expect pastrnak goals but the playmaking ability was impressive. It'll be interesting especially in the stanley cup playoffs how auston matthews mitch marner and william nylander respond because these bruins leafs games this year have favored boston big time. those new bruins jerseys are so clean in person, the pictures dont do it justice. Im also glad you made a video about the positives for the bruins, its been a real tough stretch for the Bs since ASG week
I fell the exact opposite. They had a classic jersey and completely f*cked it up.
@@Nickh4929 fair man. To each their own - I feel like doing the retro stuff is kind of outplayed. I like how they took a more modern approach
As a diehard bruins fan, these jerseys are really refreshing and a nice switch up for our 100th year
i’m not a bruins fan but i love these 100 anniversary jerseys they look amazing
I’m a rangers fan but the bruins jersey are part of my collection. Also my favorite gplayers are Pastrnak, krejci, Chara, Bergeron, and swayman
The gold looks a little too glittery lol but they’re definitely nice compared to the old away jerseys
@@ambrosius94thanks bro
Krejci taught him the playmaking, he said so himself.
Retire Krejci's Sweater.
@@jason-hy8ci maan id love that. Unfortunately, lots of people saying Krejci is "hall of very good" and thats not enough for retirement.
I say screw that, without Krejci, there is no 2011 Stanley cup. He is that Stanley cup. Id retire 46 in a heartbeat.
Krejci and Pasta are actually really close and very good friends.
@@man1ak51Yeah, he gets overshadowed because he played his entire career next to Chara and Bergeron, and later Pasta, but godamn playoff Krejci was clutch.
@@man1ak51 Tim Thomas would like a word with you. Arguably biggest carry a goalie has ever done for a cup run, in modern times.
Pasta completely showed up Marner and Mathews last night in their own rink. Nylander had a few push back moments. But it’s also credit to Boston’s team defence making things difficult, and maybe the Leafs feeling a little too good about themselves coming into the game. Bruins played a nails game last night.
And goaltending, Swayman wasn't letting anything through.
It ain’t that deep, it’s that the leafs suck and are a bunch of spoiled kids with no heart and the bruins have owned them since the 70s. Toronto will never EVER win a playoff series against them.
The old jerseys made the penguins look like us. I like the new ones and the cream color jersey they wear on celebration nights
I always thought it was cream colored but I guess they call it “Ivory” I thought that was interesting
technically it made you look like the penguins... after all its the Pittsburgh colours ;)
@@TheLizardWizard17 you copied us
@@pineapple3798 actually no, the only reason the bruins became black and gold is because the Pittsburgh Pirates left the NHL in the late 1920s... you took their colours, it was only fitting they took them baxk

Bruins fan here. I like the new 100 yr jerseys. The thing I like the most is the old-school treatment to the modern logo. They also play with two different colored logos, one for home and one for away. Give 'em a look and you'll know what I mean. I wonder if they're going to get a refresh after the 100 yr celebrations are all done. The look they had the year before dates back to 2007 so they're due for a refresh.
Idk if MVP is without a doubt Pasta
I would def give a lot of credit to Swayman as he has stepped up and I’ve seen some of the best goaltending from him
Marc Savard & Tim Thomas
Pasternak bring s a different kind of leadership to the room, too, because he has so much joy for the game, and it's infectious.
I think the current jerseys are cool up close, but look desaturated at regular viewing distance. I'd bet these are a one-off.
as a tampa fan, i knew that shattenkirk was a great pick up for boston, he came in clutch during 2020 bubble
Game 4 OT winner 🥲
Bro these bots are getting out of control

@@bunsw2070I doubt that, there is no evidence supporting that, plus that would destroy their reputation and their credibility.
They also lost Bertuzzi and Hall in the offseason
Bertuzzi is badly over rated. He's had like one decent season and really hasn't performed overall. I thought JVR was an upgrade. Hall was a big loss though.
@@dave3617As a Wings fan, I agree 100% with your assessment on Bert. I wasn't sorry to see him go.
@@dave3617 Losing hall was definitely a big hit, he was such a good depth piece. The fact that we were able to have him on the third line was bonkers. Still hard to wrap my mind around last year's roster. The team is performing very well this year after losing our top 2 centers and our 3rd best winger.
@@dave3617Bert was unreal with Boston though
When I think of the Leafs is a pretty cut and dry case, the term Mental Fragility stands out the most to me, just a team with no balls really, a team that folds under pressure, a team that doesn't have a killer instinct, and a team that is fundamentally flawed in its construction, top heavy especially, they're good enough for regular seasons but playoffs is where they have precisely 0% chance.
Matthew’s an absolute no show last night, tried to muscle Debrusk around and barely shoves him and Debrusk coming back around in the neutral zone to lay the body.. wish this rivalry meant more
@@ferrak93 There's no rivalry, Leafs routinely get bent over against the Bruins. It's really not surprising either because that's a team that is built well, well rounded and isn't overly reliant on a top heavy overpaid forward core.
It’s been like that for years. The core of the Leafs simply do not care about losing. The entire team is constantly getting out muscled and out skated by playoff caliber teams
That’s only wolls 2nd nhl game since November and swayman was pretty damn good last night huge difference in the game
@@DaddyOBillwtf are you talking about they just beat Colorado, Vegas and Dallas
I love last year's jerseys too. It reminds me of the '70's where they had the shoulder bars in the first half of the decade and then removed them for the second half. I guess history does repeat itself.
The cream alternate jersey is amazing. The regular home/away jersey - is okay, I miss the shoulder yokes.
Should’ve raised the cup last year
The Centennial Jerseys look a lot better once you see two white stripes on the arms instead of three gold ones. The Third Jersey is a beauty and the away looks slightly faded on camera, so it's almost like watching that slightly washed out 80s TV footage- just in HD. Perfect!
Bro your commentary is next level! thank you.
I think the new threads are pretty sick, although I do miss the regular sweaters. I hope they keep one or two as an Alternate
I love the centennial jerseys. Nice content.
I’m in love with the New Jerseys
And great video!
I agree about last years jerseys as well. The jerseys they are currently wearing are more like the old jerseys with the extra stripe on the sleeves.
Virtanen on that draft board for Van OOF
Kopitar was on the board and we still passed on him. Was far and away the best European in the draft (6'5" 220 lbs.). Imagine having H.Sedin, Kopitar, Kesler at C.... how many cups would we have? Passed twice on Suban and the 2 guys we drafted never played in 1 game. Joulevi over Tkachuk, Nedved over Jagr....argh don't get me started.
I actually got the 3rd Centennial and Home jersey , i actually love the away jersey. I just was afraid to get it because it would get easily stained and dirty if i was to wear it to a game.
I’d like the same template for the jerseys with last year’s gold trim color
Love your videos!!!
I like the 3rd jersey for this year but the other 2 I feel like the colors are a bit off putting so I hope they switch back next year
I'm a leafs fan but the bruin's uni's are pretty hard rn
Both teams stink
Peter Chiarelli was terrible. drafting Pasta was really one of the only things he actually did to help the Bruins. I know, he was the GM during the 2011 cup run and acquired Johnny Boychuk, Andrew Ference and Dennis Wideman. Wideman was later used to acquire Nathan Horton via trade. he also traded Kessel and drafted Seguin and Hamilton. both traded shortly after.
BUT, what most people don’t know (or remember) is Chiarelli was hired in 2006 but had to finish his obligations with Ottawa before starting, so Jim Gorton (then Assistant GM) got to work with trading Andrew Raycroft for Tuukka Rask, signing Chara and heading up that years draft by selecting Phil Kessel in the first round, Milan Lucic in the second, then traded up to select future captain Brad Marchand in the third. when Chiarelli assumed his managerial duties, Gorton returned to his role as an assistant but was dismissed by Chiarelli a year later. as for the next draft after Pasta, that was Don Sweeny’s first and I would think it’s safe to say he blew it but also learned some valuable lessons from it.
I prefer the standard "yellow gold" to the metallic, but the simplified logo and lack of shoulder yoke looks really good. Maybe take the "standard" striping pattern and put it on the yoke-less centennial jersey and change to the usual yellow shade?
Pasta's stepped up so much with Krejci and Bergeron retiring. He was always an elite goalscorer, but this season his playmaking has become elite too, because the team desperately needed it. Contrast to teams like Toronto where players making even more money than Pasta refuse to adapt for the benefit of the team...
Pasta reminds me of Jagr in a lot of ways. Underappreciated playmaking especially!
Thank you for highlighting just how important Pastrnak is to the Bruins. I got absolutely littered with people calling me an idiot for saying he should get more MVP recognition, as the Bruins would arguably be outside of the playoffs without him
As a hockey fan we all have teams we just can't get behind. For me those are the Leafs and Bruins. I almost didn't click on this video because of that. But I was like J Hawks been rolling lately, I'll see what he has to say. AND WOW! no one on this earth could have gotten me to watch a whole video on my 2 most hated teams AND thouroughly enjoy it. keep it up ... YOUR AWESOME.
IIRC the jerseys are just for this year. I think it was announced when they showed them off the first time? But with fanatics taking over the jerseys next year, I think there will be a few teams that change up looks, the Bs included. Maybe it's back to something familiar or maybe they keep these jerseys and just replace the true gold with the traditional yellow/"gold".
Thanks for this
Pasta is a premier playmaker in this league, no doubt
Thought these were specifically centennial season jerseys. Assuming/hoping they go back to the regular H/A jerseys next year.
I really like the Centennial jerseys they're wearing. But, they did state that this was the only year they're wearing them and that they will go back to the old set. Something about the metallic finishes just makes teams sheepish. As for Pasta, man what a player he is. He doesn't do nearly as much as my all-time favorite player Datsyuk, but he can influence a game so much when he's out there. And he doesn't even need that much of an opportunity. It's crazy how many of those plays he makes in a split second with guys all around him or with just a puck's width of space.
You have to remember that there are gems even in the 7th round, Haula and Weegar were both 7th round picks, just recently picked in the 7th round last year was Luke Mittelstadt, Casey Mittelstadt’s brother, maybe he might become a star like haula or weegar one day.
Are they on the same level as Pasta tho? Ye, they are super good for 7th round pick, but here I believe Johny wanted to elevate how good Pasta was for the Bruins, so please, don't try to downplay it.
Last year's Bruins jerseys are fine, but the centennial jerseys have a clean vintage look that an O6 team should have IMO, especially that off-white alt, what a beauty. Last year's were a little too modern looking. Coming from a Leafs fan.
Bruins fan here and I love 88's scoring and play making ability, but he could be so much better if he just paid attention to some little things. He led the league in TO's last year and is on pace to do it again this year. Biggest reason is that he never makes the easy play, always trying to "thread the needle" as you put it. He also needs to put some squat work in to get stronger as he is easily pushed off the puck way too often. Mark my words, he will cost the B's a game or 2 in the first round with some of these plays that with little effort could be avoided.
I prefer the regular jerseys to have the shoulder yoke. The all-black third jerseys always look clean (I own one!), but I like to see the classic look most of the time.
the 2015 draft still haunts me to this day. if we just swapped ONE of those awful defensemen for barzal we would have multiple cups by now. just think about how badly we've needed a replacement center for bergeron and even krejci this whole time. we never thought about filling their roles until they were gone. barzal with leadership and coaching presence from bergeron could've been the greatest player of all time. also, LOVE the new jerseys, hope we keep em
Pasta is unreal, good vid (again). As for jerseys, I'm old-school (or just old) since I still prefer whites for home and darks for away games.
But old school actually IS dark jerseys at home. In the 80’s when I was growing up, the NHL had gone to home whites, but up until then it was always dark jerseys at home.
the new jerseys are fantastic, there are no other jerseys in the league i'd love more, i hope they stick with them onwards
Luc Robitaille was drafted 171st OVERALL in the 1984 draft,... THAT'S 170 spots BEHIND Mario Lemieux!!!
Good analysis
Ranger fan here and its scary to think how the Bruins would be if they got Barzal. Hes the only bright light for the isles, but imagine if he played for the B's.
Vancouver wiffed twice... was last team to pick just before pasta got taken
I miss the old unis but this years sweaters are fucking nice man… seeing them online I was like ehh but in person the gold flakes really pop.. such sweet trim and the boys are humming 🖤💛 let’s go Toronto still being Toronto 💪🏻💪🏻
As a lifelong Bruins fan I can say Pasta is all that and more but let’s talk about how great he is defensively and how he never coughs up the puck in the offensive zone, especially when he’s rushing in over the blue line ,… and the way he wins all the board battles ,.. he’s the best
Great content on this channel. That's all I have to say.
I liked the older jersey more. They seem timeless.
Pastas 200 foot game has grown big time over the past couple of years and he’s now so much more than a goal scorer. I feel bad for anyone who misses that part of Pastas game.
I’ll tell you how the Bruins got Pasta so late in 2014. He was injured the year prior to his draft and a lot of team’s were concerned about that. Big mistake!
My opinion is that Don Sweeney has dropped quite a few balls in his draft picks over the years he’s been in charge but none bigger than his first draft in 2015 when they passes on Matthew Barzel among others. Two out of the three players that they picked so early are gone now and were average players at best. Jake DeBrusk has turned out to be a pretty good 200 foot player and has also proven he can score goals too.
I think they should have kept Peter Sherrelli, but someone had to hang for the Tyler Sagan trade, but it shouldn’t have been him. I love Don Sweeney behind the number 32 on the blue line but not so much in the office.
As far as we’re would the Bruins be without Pastrank? They would be totally screwed! 54 goal and 55 assist as of today, March 25th, 2024. They don’t even have a 30 goal scorer behind him.
Great video, sorry so late to the party.
The centennial jerseys likely won’t be making a comeback after this season. I can see the third white jerseys becoming an alternate for a few years though
They better switch back . The centennial jerseys are ok but , but the regular jersey is as close to perfection for a B's sweater as you'll get.
centennial jerseys are litty
Those new jerseys look so damn good ! I’d keep them as is 😎
That goalie hug at the beginning was so wholesome
It always is, part of what makes them arguably the best tandem in the league I think
I'm not a big Bruins fan, but Pasta is having an amazing season. 🤯
Ur wild lol the new bruins jerseys r sum of my favs in the league, they look fukkin FRESHHH!!!
With the proverbial "changing of the guard" following Bergeron and Krejci retiring, I think the Centennial Jerseys should become the new main for the Bruins. I love the simple spoked-B, and they should keep the shoulder patch as the iconic bear in some fashion. Just one Bruins fan's opinion, though 🐻
i do hope they change the jersey back i do miss them
Tied for Bruins mvp in my opinion, Jeremy Swayman, was picked 111th. Not often you get one one the best tendies in the league from such a late pick... insane. And of course whoever it was in the bruins organization that picked Bergeron, Krejci, and Marchand all late back in the day needs to be revered.
111th is not a late pick for a goalie ... Shesterkin was 118th, Hellebuyck 130th, Bobrovsky undrafted, Talbot undrafted, Ersson 143rd, Lyon undrafted ... Sure there is a lot of goalies drafted earlier than that (Luukonen, Demko, Oettinger) but amongst the best tendies in the league, it is not actually a late pick
also, Krejci was a 2nd round pick... not late eh (notice how im not mentioning Bergy or Marchy, as they were picked late for what they became)
Keep making bruins content 👏
The Canucks had _two_ picks before Pasternak went to Boston. I know hindsight is 20/20 but still 😭😭😭
Players like pasta and Mo Seider are great examples of why trusting your scouting can be more important than taking "the best available player" with every pick.
Seen as borderline crazy picks that had fans frothing at the mouths, both those guys turned into absolute dogs for their teams.
The jerseys last year were better for sure, and one of the Centennial jerseys is poorly designed/hard to read (black border is too thick)
I was hoping they'd do something fun and creative to celebrate on at least one look, but they kept it SO serious overall.
They’re switching back for sure, these are strictly their centennial jerseys. I don’t love them either, but the Whites they wear against original 6 teams this year are FIRE.
Not a fan of the jerseys and I expect them to switch. Thanks for the Pasta gas he’s on another planet.
the new bruins jerseys are really slick. easily the best jersey set this season
I only like the like tan/off white alternate jerseys for this year. others no good
without pasta and our goalies i don’t think we’d even be in a wild card position
Love the New Jerseys.
I personally am not the biggest fan of the home and away jersys, i dont like the glitter used and the amount of stripes on the sleve looks messy. However, the third jersey is by far one of if not my favorite jersy in the nhl.
I hope the white centennials stick around they’re so gorgeous
The homes should go back to the outlined logo from last year and their 3 finals runs
Love the bruins but their difficulty holding leads this year makes me nervous
Bergeron and Swayman are the reasons I love this team and seeing Swayman playing excellent year after year and just getting better makes me hope they get him locked in long term
Looking at basic stats, it’s their tendies keeping their record as good as it is (I go ROW to see who the best teams are in the league and theirs is okay but OTL and SO losses usually came after blowing multi goal leads in the third)
Fingers crossed, go Bs 🐻
prefer the all black and all white to the yellow/black shoulders. just looks more classic bruins jersey
At first I didn’t like the New Jerseys but now i do
Leafs have no defense, despite the fans in Toronto, 'planning the parade', expect them to do not much in the playoffs again unless they get some decent defenders...
I dislike the new jerseys too. I loved the old ones. Hopefully they bring them back but I won't hold my breath.
Much like my Leafs. I never see enough change in the jersey to give a F. Looks exactly the same to me.
We lost Bergeron, Krecji, Hall, and couldn’t retain Bertuzzi. We lost 4 of our top 6 forwards. We also lost Clifton and Foligno so yeah. Big offseason losses.
Lucic must have though de La Rose took his phone.
I want them to go back to the others next year. I get that it's special but it just looks too over simplified.
Bruins had back to back great seasons. unfortunately cause of front office issues that they won’t get some defense they will probably be an early playoff exit. They beat the leafs last night and looked great but they have to replicate that moving forward and idk if they can.
Monty will be gone I think if they go out early in post season, they also if you ask me regardless out outcome Need to part ways with Neely and Sweeney after this year the ego for them has gone to there heads.
New Jerseys are fire. I hope they never switch
"He's clearly their MVP" Disagree. Swayman, win or lose, has been absolutely insane. Pasta will have some just atrocious games here and there, while Swayman will be the only reason the team doesn't lose 10-0. The atrocious game vs Washington is the biggest example.
Agree, swayman is my vezina winner this year no doubt and he puts the team on his back when needed
I was gunna say this. Out of everyone this year swayman has always made me surprised or happy he’s a great member of the team
Like last night he put in the work
Swayman has been awesome but even if he played like Ullmark last year Pasta is still the mvp and it is not even close
@@JYD2020Uh, no. Bobrovsky and especially Hellebuyck (and a few others, probably) have a greater claim so far.
@@jozinzbazin______8841 I think we’re trying to say it’s a no brainer saying pasta. But there’s def other key players that are helping
Mat barzal doesn't become mat barzal in boston behind the log jam at center. Idk why this is so hard for people to understand. Opportunity has a lot to do with development
For me, the way I look at North American sports and drafting is its a several factor play. The player itself, their demeanor, drive to get better, natural talent, potential, willingness to learn and so on....and then there's the organizational factor. I don't think it gets enough credit. People blame/credit players for busting or becoming stars but I think the organization has a ton to do with it. Their developmental system, their philosophy when it comes to young talent, what kind of systems are in place to help kids reach or surpass their potential. I think fans don't blame their organizations enough for "bad picks". Sure the kid might not have been as good as you thought, but the organization might have failed him as well. Think of organizations who are perpetually bad. Places like the Charlotte Hornets in basketball, Arizona Coyotes, Ottawa Senators, Sacramento Kings and so on. There are organizational failures at play. A player could be drafted by a team like the OKC Thunder, or the Bruins who seem to always know something others don't. But in reality their developmental systems in place are built to draft players and get the most out of them more times than not. It speaks to a players talent and willingness to get better when they fail despite being drafted in a place like Boston or OKC. Ultimately, they're well run franchises. They understand the nuances of the drafting system, players and development. They understand the importance of maintaining their players shape, what areas they need to improve and how. All those areas are possibly where teams who are perpetually bad fail at. I think the organizations deserve to be just as accountable for a player being a bust as the players do, but we don't often see that. They rely on the players natural talent and their willingness to get better rather than helping that player get the most out of themselves or even past their potential. I think of a player (sorry for the basketball references but its the sport Im most knowledgeable about) Tyreke Evans who peaked in his first few seasons with the Kings. The NBA figured out how to guard him, and the organization (and player) didn't improve past the point where he could get past that initial peak. And so his career declined and the team gave up on him just a few years after being Rookie of the Year and seemingly a future All-Star. The Golden State Warriors completely changed their philosophies and brought in key individuals and invested in their training, health and recovery when the new owners came in. That was a team that essentially was bad for 3 decades, give or take a few good teams that quickly declined. It took a new owner to completely change everything about the organization to make them successful. Its not something a lot of teams can even afford to do, they don't have the infrastructure, money, resources, access to talented (by talented, I mean the best in the business) trainers and stuff. Which is a shame for a player who could have gone to a Boston, OKC, Dallas, Anaheim or Calgary (who all have great drafting resumes) and achieved a higher peak. Its incredibly frustrating as a fan, because getting the most out of a player means more value for the franchise, which means if they need to flip him, they get the most back and can recover from that cycle easier. Teams who cant, find themselves losing more often then not because they just cant get any value or production from their picks which results in constant losing/rebuilds. There are obviously a lot of factors that I didn't mention, but I think the point still proves correct. Franchises that draft well are often franchises that develop talent well, and they're often the teams that win more often because they're able to recover from bad seasons, runs easier. Teams that don't find are opposite. The North American drafting system is essentially supposed to act like a cycle, the teams at the bottom cycle to the top by drafting the best talent, teams at the top eventually cycle to the bottom and in theory everyone gets chance to win. If your team is constantly at the bottom the players arent necessarily the ones to blame, its the management, ownership and higher bodies of power who rarely suffer the consequences of delivering a bad product more times than not.
I love the new jerseys

Give More Respect to the 70's, 80's, 90's shoulder patch Bruin.
No bud, me I’m crazy for that jersey, in fact ever since I was five years old and I chose the Bruins has my team. When I saw that jersey, I wanted it soooo badly, but I never got the chance to get it while had they brought it back.
