Chorus:
Jimmy Lee, this one's for me
And I'll always remember
Hey, Lord, history, biology
And that magical December, ah hah
Jimmy Lee, where can you be
If this song ever finds you
Won't you please explain to me
Why you left me behind you
Oh, yeah
Jimmy, Jimmy
#ArethaFranklin #JimmyLee #QueenOfSoul - Hudba
Right in the heart of the 1980s when Aretha caught a new headwind and let us all know she wasn't going anywhere but up to the top. Miss her so much. Rest well, Queen.
Love your comment. We surely and most definitely miss her immensely. ❤️🙏🏽
Me2, me2❤😊😢
Yep. Folk had counted her out but she doubled down on her demands bcuz she knew her worth and value. During this time Aretha Franklin, one who always lamented flying, decided that anybody who wanted to do anything with her needed to come to her to have it done. This and a lot of subsequent works were published and produced almost solely in The Motor City, Detroit, MI. Including the international number she did with George Michael, Knew You'd Be Waiting. Even the video was filmed transcontinental.
Married my "Jimmy Lee" guy 20+ years after we broke up. He was my first "everything" in highschool. He went off to college. I was married someone else. He never married....but I NEVER forgot him....I divorced and came back to our home town....now we been married 3 years (in our 50s).

SONGWRITER/PRODUCER
NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN
(APRIL 23, 2024)
Tonight I just want to let someone know how good God is. If you are sick, poor, depressed, stressed, abused, mentally challenged....🙌It does not matter. God will see you through if you just trust in God. If you haven't done this yet, wait no more and do it today. Give them all to God, he makes a way where there seems to be no way. Believe that he has your back no matter what as long as you trust, believe, and have faith in him. 🙌I hope this opens up someone's heart and lighten up there burden. Prayer can move mountains (My dad always told me this). Believe it and you will see it. God Bless you all.plz pray for my family to come to know about jesus💖🙏
Amen. Ashe' Bless You back!
Long live Jimmy Lee! Mine died when I was 24. I'll be 70 on my next birthday and I remember him all the time when I'm laughing, joyous thankful that he was my love. He always will be that young man I loved so much! You put it so well,Aretha. Rest in peace,Aretha. Your voice and who you still ARE were a beacon of light!
Hello friend how are you doing hope all is well with you and your family?
It's amazing how much people can hurt you how did they treat them other women and people
We doing good nobody play with me glad people saw it and other women to sucker them
Sorry for that ❤️ Ellen black eacker
Yes she is. This world was so fortunate to have her and those who lived during her lifetime and heard her were doubly blessed. She was a phenomena in and of herself. Thanks Aretha may you live on forever through your music and in our hearts. Incomparable.
The most underrated Aretha song EVA! This is fire!

I didn't realise how pretty she was in the 80's !!
Women get hotter in their forties.
Aretha was always beautiful! I will always love her music.
She was absolutely beautiful throughout…her spirit always shone through😘
EVERY WOMAN IN THIS LIFETIME..CAN AND WILL RELATE TO THIS SONG ONE DAY🥰🥰
No lie!
But hopefully we will find another "Jimmy Lee" that will be our forever love.
I have mine again after 30 years…😘
This song always bring back those memories of my “Jimmy Lee“, when I was 15 years old. I am 64 and this song tugs at my heart streams every time I see that little girl cry. to tap it off, he looked just like him.
I'm having an Aretha night in honor of the Queen! Tears flow because you are gone. Your music is such a part of the fabric of memories in my life. Bless you. I don't care anything about any skeletons in your closet or anything else negative anybody may have to say about your life. What you gave to the world in music is uncompromised. Thank you Aretha. I will always love you!!

To me, Aretha could do NO wrong!
Salute!
She will truly be missed her songs tell everything what she been through, God Bless The Queen Of Soul
Nothing but Love & Respect to the 1 and only Queen of Soul... I just paid my respects today at her visitation. She looked so peaceful.... massive line of thousands of fans to pay honor with her music showering down upon us... a beautiful vintage pink Cadillac parked outside the museum. What a beautiful celebration of her life. Anyone else here in Detroit? I always loved this jam about 1st love ❤️ and heartbreak and the music video is so sweet!

Privileged to be one of the background vocalists. Kitty Beethoven
Wow, what an experience working with ReRe, I wrote a song for her.... didn't get a chance to present it🤗🤔😏😑
Are you in the video, in the studio recording or both?
I'm an R&B singer/ songwriter. Haven't recorded in a minute, looking forward to Oct., I'll record song as if Re would do it, she liked my voice.....😊
Carla Johnson I want to follow you. Are you on FB, etc?
Everybody in this background is rocking, I love how the Caucasian is jamming on beat of course,The background is off the chain.
Every young lady has a “Jimmy Lee” ❤
and boy
Underrated song. Notice she plays piano on this. She was self taught.
extremely underrated.. I remember back when the video would come on BET and I wondered why it wasn't played more on the radio.. I loved it.. still do.. always will!
Not underrated at all, this was a popular and hot song. Please don't jump down me throat because I said it wasn't underrated LOL :-)
@@TonygMus2 LOL! I'm not a keyboard gangsta like that 😏😂 it was a hit at the time, but it disappeared.. when I share this to my Facebook, friends barely comment or say they had forgotten all about it.. that's what I mean by underrated.. it didn't have legs like some of her other hits.. I thought it would've been much bigger.. it's a big tune!
Jose Nivlag Aretha KEYS!!!
Narada Michael Walden actually played that piano intro. Aretha could handle those keys like a pro, but not on this track.
Jimmy Lee broke Aretha's heart. In the words of Fred Sanford..."big dummy".
RestlessRick I got my heart broken by a Jimmy Lee 😥
This song always hit me in the heart!!! Love it!!! This is singing and actual musicians. REST IN PEACE, QUEEN.
Hello dear friend how are you doing hope all is well with you and your family?
PS: When your DEAD you don’t even know what Peace is ......or even what the word Peace is!!!

It makes me sad, think about the past
Yes
This woman's voice thru all her eras of music is just so amazing... I love this woman to pieces
Why I didn't appreciate this song 30 years ago, I'll never know. It's jamming!
Me too
me too.......
Cause u had to have a Jimmy Lee in your life. I was 14. Just friends. But I loved him. Paula
I feel the same way! I totally slept on this song when it first came out! I know better now!
@@dpkvwells Me Too! I heard it but I wasn't listening to it until maybe 4 months after it was out. A much older man and his wife said to me at the time (I was in my very early twenties) I have to listen to the song Jimmy Lee by Aretha Franklin I said I heard it they said no really listen to the lyrics and and once I did I was like OMG! So I only slept on it for about 4 months! It's a beautiful jamming song but it's also a sad song and a hurtful song because whether you are male or female just about everybody have a Jimmy Lee in their time while in their youth!🤷♂️
Nothing like Aretha Franklin during the eighties and nineties. Her voice and songs were straight on point 🎶🎼🎵💯. This one of my top five Aretha Franklin songs and you know she was looking so fine in this video 😍😍! RIP Queen of Soul ❤️❤️
Her father was the first preacher to record his sermons to albums for sale...she started in his church choir. A dynamic singer & she could tickle those ivories too. She's missed. Truly the Queen of Soul.
This is not an easy song to sing...tailored made for her talent .
Jamming
I love this song my daddy used to play this song all the time when I was a kid.❤️ R.I.P. Daddy & The Queen of Soul❤️
This is one of my favorite songs... makes me sad but I love it...my son name is jimmylee ; he passes away in 2010...RIP JIMMYLEE

I love this song." And he ran like a bandit,I don't understand it." That just gets me every time.
"History, biology" is the best line though.

I loved this song as a little girl & thought Jimmy Lee was so cute in the video lol. Great song by the Queen!

Aretha's singing is great, but so is her piano playing.
February 16th is Aretha Franklin Day in Detroit!
#StanForLife
This was my song in the 6th grade when Video Vibrations would come on BET in the mornings before I went to school.
Yes!!! I used to play that as I was getting ready for school!!! Miss the 80s!
Her voice is singing the words and her eyes are telling the story! What a wonderful artist. Thank you Queen of Soul.
80's Aretha was the best!
Love this song! Bought the record when I was in JR high school. My first boyfriend was Jimmy. Got my first kiss from him at 13 behind the stairway at school. lol Brings back alot of memories.
One of God's finest singer
Omg. I haven’t heard this in forever.
Natasha I hadn’t either. Heard it on Sirius radio since they are doing the tribute to her all this week. OMG! And it is based in a true story I am hearing...Jimmy Lee missed out!
R.I.P Aretha Franklin (1942 - 2018)!
Piano and pop combine to make an incredible sound that sparks undeniable emotion. Who else could pull that off but the incomparable Aretha Franklin?
Oh Aretha, Aretha, my Aretha, my soul, my happy 80's ❤😢😊
Why does this music video is a replica of how me and my first ever boyfriend met and dated in highschool. He then disappeared into the service...and left me without giving me a reason. He used to cheat and munipulate me. It was hard because he was my first time. So you know attachments and the heartbreak was hella heavy.
Congratulations Ms Aretha Franklin, you dont have to suffer in the flesh like the rest of us, enjoy your soul journey. 😢😢😢😢😢
AMEN VAIYNE SHE IS WITH GOD FOREVER.
keecefly there’s no proof no. But if someone wants to believe who are you to tell them what to believe let them be 🤷🏽♂️
Incredible song and a phenomenal voice. Rest well Queen of Soul.

Saturday evening we were ready to hit 95 south.. back to school. Wow good ole days.. the Cosby show was a great influence on us going to college....
She reminds me of my mom. Beautiful & can sing real good
When they name Aretha Lady of Soul they hit the nail on the head. This song has always been my favorite .I went through the same thing
I love seeing this woman sitting at a piano......
Christy Langley I don't think her piano playing gets enough credit.
I agree 💯 percent with you bro!!!😀 From Aretha White from Bunn NC Peace out ✌✌✌✌😎 Jimmy just got "bitch- slapped, damn!!!! LOL 😀. That's what he gets for breaking 💔 her heart!!!
I thank God for Aretha's music ..
RIP to the Queen, and the 80s at the same time. This song reminds of how amazing 80s music was.
She was right, “the sweetest love is the first “. This is one of my favorite songs R.I.P. Queen.
Aretha Franklin is one of the best soul singers in the world, if she isn't the best :)
Singing the same song
love her
oh she is the best l, not one of the best. she 's the barm
Aretha Franklin is the BEST! She is the "Queen of Soul." Respect okay.
My god i cannot get enough of this song. Her phrasing is so unique. She ain't chesting NONE of these vocals and she is STILL killing it. Damn.
She was so pretty
I think we all had a Jimmy Lee. This is an awesome song.
One of the best songs by the late great queen of soul. This song ha a very nice beat, and Aretha"s voice is as always magnificent!! She was such a beautiful lady. Miss her so much!
Aretha DID THAT ! She always came back with a WINNERS and this was a come back WINNER ! A valuable song in my collection. Her Anthology will be OFF-THE- CHAIN !
As a teenager in the 80s, a few things brought the great Aretha Franklin to my attention (sadly, it was not the UK radio stations playing her anthology); namely, the 'Blues Brothers' film (Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, et. al.), 'I knew you were waiting' (collaboration with George Michael), and this gem, 'Jimmy Lee'. Again, not played much on the airwaves UK-side, so thank you for this download, and thank you CZcams 🎼👏🏾🌟❤
I used to see the guy who played Jimmy Lee all the time. In 1987, I worked at Imperial Sports at Northland Mall in Southflield, MI (suburban Detroit) and he worked right across the hall at The Gap. People in my store were always looking across, going, "Hey, ain't that the guy from that Jimmy Lee video?" Yep, it sure was. :-)
So he was not working in the entertainment industry ?
@@sandrinebiyiti9875 nope. Like many kids in music videos, he was simply chosen to be in this one.
@@careyconley4690 He could have been a good actor ...
Wow, this baby can sing like there ain't no tomorrow!

My theme song...from high school to college to now.
I wonder if every woman has a "Jimmy Lee"... especially those of use who can't figure out why even today we're not good enough ...for anyone.
Love this song. Childhood memories. Sang it Aretha. ❤️❤️❤️
This is my go to song whenever I'm in the mood to hear some good quality music. Today is one of those days. 07/25/2015
This song is eternally etched into my brains and ears as quintessential quality RnB from the good ol' 80ies. Lots a brass and sass and ample class!
There will never be another Miss Aretha Franklin!!!
I love this song.
I absolutely love this song. Stay on repeat! SANG ReRe!
Song Of The Day #2
No one can tell a story like Aretha. Who can these days? The lyrics are
so poetic that having a video is just extra. If you're like me, you can
see every moment she sings about quite clearly through your own
imagination or...your own truth. For me, it would have been "Kenny Lee."
She may as well have been singing about me. It nearly happened the same
way she sings about it; even the other woman he married. This
whole song was just a page from my own life. I feel sorry for the young
ones growing up now and do not have the benefit of music teaching or
being empathetic to life's tough lessons. Wish I had listened to Aretha.
I had a jimmy lee
Excellent music arrangement!!. the songs makes me tap my feet. after all we all had a'Jimmy Lee'at one point...
I encourage you to Share The Queen’s music with our future generations #The Queen loved our youth!❤️💜🌸💯

Nathaniel Heath that it does.
How does this make you sad?
Jimmy Lee was a song written by Narada Michael Walden, Lisa Walden, Preston Glass & Jeffrey Cohen and Presented to Aretha Franklin . not taken from a chapter in her life. But then I think we ALL had a JImmy Lee in our lives at one time or another.
Damn, I haven't heard this Song in years but I'm glad I can listen to this Masterpiece because it brings back memories ❤. I miss the good old days. Aretha's voice is beautiful.
Happy Sunday noon fans, never stop believe in and keep the memory alive, sing along some more, gorgeous performers that made of our lives a better place...never die❤
One of the original divas and the Queen of Soul!
Jimmy Lee = Tyrone
Yep!!!! we could all fill in the blanks
i was in 4th grade when this song came out and i cried for DAYS over how Jimmy Lee did poor Aretha! I was such a sentimental kid. lol
I usta be a Jimmy Lee ... Aretha we love you
able76 ...did she blow your mind and have you stuttering whenever she looked in your eyes? Yes? Then you met your Jenny Lee!!
+roberta miranda : Actually she served me a heartbreak similar to the movie "Boomerang". I was a player who fell victim to the game. The whole experience taught me that, a faithful woman can make a jester as sure as a king, while an unfaithful queen brings laughter to her husband's throne.
able76 ... extremely true.
able76 😂
@@able76 profound statement and noted.✌🏾
One of my many Aretha Franklin favorites! R.I.P My Queen your throne awaits you!
My mom had this album and she played it all the time. I remember Jimmy Lee very well because of the melody. A couple summers ago the song just popped into my head and wouldn't leave, so I played the song, hoping it would leave my head. I ended up playing the song constantly the entire summer. When I listen to this song now it reminds of the wonderful summer I had with my husband.
Such a feel-good uplifting song. Thank you for all the beautiful gifts you have given us. Not only the queen of soul, Aretha is the queen of funk. Still listening in 2023 and for as long as I can.🙏🏻❤️
PUT SOME RESPECT ON ANY COMMENTS! THE QUEEN OF SOUL MUSIC
This song just laid me out! RIP Aretha... ❤️👑
