This is one of those performances that are so good you get goose bumps.
"Whenever I Say Your Name" is a duet by English musician Sting and American singer Mary J. Blige. It serves as the second single from Sting's seventh studio album Sacred Love (2003). It was not originally included on Blige's sixth studio album Love & Life but was later added to the album's international re-release. The recording won Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals at the 46th Grammy Awards in 2004.
The undeniable Mary J. Blige oozes exuberance on “Whenever I Say Your Name.” Both Blige and Sting take the opportunity to play to their strengths. Sting begins the tune with a characteristically moody, subtle verse. Imperceptibly, the song morphs into a borderline funk romp, pushing Blige’s power vocals to the fore. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Sting is like the screenwriter/director who has cast just the right actor for his film, the singer whose own genius perfectly completes what he has imagined. And the song is about finding exactly the right person to create a religious experience from love. These two found each other on the stage and not in a relationship, and for one perfect moment and not for a lifetime, but that moment is transcendent and eternal in the same manner as lifelong love.

LOVE this song. Great version. I'm a fan of MJB & Sting. So glad that they got together.
Speaking for myself, this performance is one of those magical things that you're grateful that you were fortunate enough to see. It's an extraordinary collaboration.

Whenever I say his name: Jesus! (PTL) Mary, take us to CHURCH...
Love the song but can't stand this particular version. Mary J. Blige is off key a lot and yelling and screaming in a harsh way..disappointing.
I couldn't disagree with you more. This particular rendition of this particular song transcends music and becomes something emotionally awakening, with me. MJB and Sting mix and work together on this piece amazingly well.
