I also ran across a good bit of wisdom a long time ago: "A wise person learns from other's mistakes, fools don't learn from their own."
I've read a similar quote, im paraphrasing a bit, but- "intelligence is learning from your mistakes, wisdom is learning from other peoples mistakes".
Another: ‘Make sure to learn from others mistakes, as you dont have the time to make them all yourself’

This is why I believe that everyone is intelligent in their own ways.
That is very true, literally everything is a scale like a role playing game. There are people with normal IQ's that are extreme experts in their field, and people with IQ's above 180 that cannot function, as well as below average IQ people that are insanely talented in what they are interested in. IQ isn't as important as it's made out to be. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and everyone can alter them just like in a role playing game. That being said... some boss battles are harder than others.

@@mikethecollector IQ doesn't measure intelligence, it measures one's ability to perform academic tasks. Many of those tasks also work beyond just academics, but it's mostly a test to see how well someone would function in the structure of society as it is right now. As of right now there is no way to measure true intelligence. Scanning brain activity is easy, but until we actually have a way to properly decrypt it, it's hard to come up with an objective measure of intelligence.
For example, someone could potentially solve an equation in their head very quickly, but in their head only 3 steps happen. Someone else could take twice as long, but in that amount of time he's done a much more thorough job and took like 20 steps to get there. Doing 20 calculations in 2 seconds while doing 3 calculations in 1... it's pretty obvious which of the 2 actually does more. But since we cannot measure what exactly happens in the brain and how it translates to real life, in actuality we'd say the faster person is the more intelligent one. Basically, the way we currently measure intelligence focuses on the results, rather than the entire process it takes to get to the results.

I, too, relate to ADHD and OCD. My grandmother used to call me "Wiggle mouse" and my dad called me "the instigator." I have 14 of the 15 traits! That explains my weirdness. I just thought I lacked focus! I'm a jack of all trades and a master of none. At age 30 I tried to install a skylight in my garage to lighten my planting area: I was a petite, woman 105 pounds dripping wet. I'm 80 now and continue to amaze myself and others since I still invent, work full time, empathize unending to others' pain, solve problems, in awe over the nighttime sky and the universe. I've produced 200 YT videos on astronomy, the paranormal, social injustice, and self-improvement. After watching this video, I don't feel so much of an "oddball."

I agree with all the descriptors throughout the video, and have been now for a majority of my life conscious of possessing these, not because I sought them, but rather because acquaintances and teachers early on always have told me this, though I was very loathe to accept the positive criticisms.
The problem I have found thus far in my sojourn is that often, because many do not try to develop these things, they either do not know how to support you in your seeking of knowledge or attempt to utilize what knowledge you have found, many ridicule you for being different or looking at things from a different or deeper perspective (in my case, friends, family, work peers, and even my own wife), and I dare say that it can handicap your ability to find a means of expression in work or even in your social life. Circumstances greatly hurt my ability in these areas, yet I am not resigned to give up hope that I will yet find use for the vast amount of information I've gleaned through my many years of self study, and the concepts which have arisen from summations of different domains of knowledge. What I find most useful is the habit of approaching every person and problem from a clean slate without any presupposition.
What does sojourn mean? I think I use the word ethos instead when I'm doing self reflection.
Here's a perspective of mine, that may or may not help, either way you can confirm or deny my ideas so that both of us can benefit. The way I see understanding (can use the word intelligence here too) is a ladder/staircase, the higher you get, the more layered it gets, and to communicate with people you attempt to begin at step one/the first rung (think that's what it's called) and you can absolutely go higher. A lot of language is symbolism and/or shorthand, because we need levity in conversation.
I personally enjoy taking a complex subject and making it into basic b*tch language, because one, it's fun for me, it helps my brain have the basic idea before it goes deeper, kinda like a pin in thoughts. Because as you can see above I don't hold too much merit in language. Language is simply a tool of expressing expression, not expression itself. There are so many ways of saying things that mean the same thing, and even if you can't go that deep in conversation, the seed is sown, you are making ripples, that most people (including myself) cannot comprehend.
Bottom line is, communication is key, the other person you are communicating with has to understand you, and that can take many different forms, so both are you are on the same level.

One technique that I've found incredibly useful, is to begin the topic on a very brief and basic level that 99% will understand. Those who want to know more will continue the conversation, ask questions, etc.. One can then elaborate further without raising the bar too high for others, who may not need or want to know every detail. It's less intimidating, or off-putting and demonstrates that one's in touch with the incoming inputs. Communication must be a two way street! All the best to you and yours!

Yes, it can. My narcissist, erm, mother, destroyed my ability to make music. I got a little of it back when I found a singing voice in church as an adult but other instruments are really beyond me..

Pattern Recognition was the only thing you needed to say in this video. Intelligence is the ability to recognize patterns around you. More patterns you recognize, the more intelligent you are
Pattern recognition is the way the mind compresses data. You find the pattern in the data, remember the abstracted form and then on recall you use this to reconstruct the individual cases.
I think strong memory is also part of it. The two go together. What is pattern recog if you can't remember any of the patterns.

Someone once told me I usually am the smartest person in the room. I was wise enough to not take that in as a truth.
One of the most important lessons I learned, taking knowledge and turn it into to wisdom! I found that it like knowledge is like words and wisdom gives it meaning, like a definition! Remember to also, put on your engineering thinking cap, we all have one! Learning what works for you , is everything

I would have included "Gut instinct" in this list.
I have oftentimes get a gut instinct on things that I have oftentimes been correct on.
That doesn't mean that you can predict something or be absolutely correct about that particular issue but you know when something is either bad or good.
You can tell wether someone is good or bad but no idea why, but oftentimes I am normally correct and later find the person was a bad person.
Can't tell you how many times I was later told "You were right", after awhile and people don't listen than it becomes unnerving and you wonder why people even ask you anymore if they are just going to do the opposite and then fail as felt.
I am like you with that gut feeling yeah or instinct and almost correct about them! I am always quiet about it though!
I used to think it was, "gut instinct" but I began having visions (images and words) that came true. Now I think it is something more than that. I found out that my ancestors (great-grandmother, great-aunt, great-grandfather) were visionary prophets. I have 14 of the 15 traits, so now I feel less of an "outcast." This is called a survival skill and humanity has had it since the beginning of time however it has become dull as we don't have to rely on it like we use too. However if you REALLY LISTEN and know what it is more than likely there is good reason for it.
I felt like I was the only one with this gut feeling. My all life was like that, I saw someone and I knew whether she was a good or bad person. And it’s thanks to this instinct that I could avoid, as a 10 years old kid, to be socially outcast because some crazy kid try to stole my friends by playing victim and accusing me of nonsense. This experience may not look important, but it causes me trust-issue, and if you add this “gut instinct” with it. I became really cold, decisive and unforgiving towards human relationship.
And the same as you, when I tell my friend to be careful of someone because I got bad vibes, they ignore my warning and get hurt. When it applies to real life people, this “gut instinct” isn’t really something I like. And when it comes to movies, video games or books, I always feel like I got spoil when someone no one thought could be the villain ends up being one.
@@estellelecardonnel6132 I have a lady friend, who got married, I never met the guy before they got married for some reason, when finally met him, I had this strong dislike with the bloke and horrified with myself 'cause I have no reason at all, then less than a year later He divorced her, I learned that he was (I don't want to enumerate here what kind of a person he was to my friend), it was a relief for my friend that he ended up the relationship! you may ask why she didn't quit easily and fast, this has something to do with " the marriage vow, TILL DEATH DO US PART!As a good Christian!
i hate predicting things and always being right even when people tell me i'm crazy
Once you're proven right, they downplay your victory or dismiss the problem all together. After a lifetime of 90% accuracy, people still ignore your predictions, or focus on the times you were wrong. It's frustrating to say the least! After going to school for engineering I decided that only intelligent people can recognize and validate an intelligent person. Maybe you're not crazy, just surrounded by idiots?
I guess it depends on what "things" you're predicting but I would suggest using this mindset with caution. Depending on the nuances and complexities of these "things" I highly doubt you're 100% correct all the time. If so you may be an alien. I'm 36 and it's been a constant battle in life to know when to follow my instincts and when to recognize I'm probably over-analyzing and the difference between the two. It's a skill I don't think I'll ever fully master and honestly never want to because it does take the fun out of life. I purposely ignore information sometimes so it doesn't stop me from pursuing something and I'm often, in the long run at least, glad I did. It seems like common sense to take the least treacherous route when presented the option but we all know that often times the true reward isn't the goal itself but rather the pursuit of it. It can be a very valuable skill for sure but when, where, why, and how it's applied is debatable. As they say "ignorance is bliss". Also it should be noted that this mindset can make you susceptible to self fulfilling prophecies. So really if your actions can influence whether your prediction is correct or not it's just psuedo-science or speculation at that point.
As I fell into more & more categories, I realized that I felt somewhat proud, and that’s the wrong attitude. I shut pride down quickly & corrected my thoughts to gratefulness.

I used to have a near complete/true photographic and videographic memory. I'm not expecting anyone to believe me but i would remember most memories as video clips, with sound, smell etc.
It used to drive my partner insane, he was talking to someone else whilst we were dating. He tried denying something so i recited their entire conversation to him months after glancing at it on his computer. He eventually learnt I couldnt be lied to. He called me the human lie detector.
I then had an operation under general anesthetic and my memory has been patchy since. Decades long memories gone, thankfully it's kind of coming back. The worst was that I had no other way to store memories but photos and videos so when I lost that ability after my operation I just barely had a long term memory. I lost things constantly it was awful.
P.S. I also managed to complete a Neuroscience degree, even though I procrastinated until 4 weeks before my exams. I could successfully cram an entire semesters worth of modules into my head in record time and then write 1st class essays and then memorise them and other papers by taking photos in my head. I came out with a 2.1 😂

I've always felt odd but in this group I'm normal!
I don’t mean to remember facts, details, places etc. I just do. I don’t mean to find so many things interesting, I just do. I don’t mean to recognise patterns in behaviour, natural patterns, or symmetry, I just do. I am always fascinated when others don’t see it or worse see it but aren’t interested.
I learnt to dumb myself down to make myself more socially compatible with my peers.
Towards the end of a team meeting at work everyone was drowsy and a tad lethargic, some commented on this, then without thinking I simply stated that the CO2 levels had risen as the room was unventilated probably upwards of 800-1000ppm, once we get outside we’ll all feel better. They looked at me and said who thinks like that?? I smiled and stopped talking, I shrugged my shoulders and returned to the topics at hand. Oops, said too much so many people just don’t care about things like that. Why do I care?
My mind gets so bored that I will learn about almost anything to keep myself mentally stimulated. Oh and I love reading. I could read from 3.5yrs of age and read chapter books from 5. Some read even earlier than this but my mother said she can never recall when I started to read - I just could. Also as a child I never stopped talking, much to the annoyance of others. My mother placed me in holiday care at a teaching college in the 80’s when I was 6 and 7 yrs old, as I was too much for her. The thing is I loved it and I still remember the activities, games and fun I had so it was actually a win - win.

And also, negative learning is, if anything, more valuable that positive learning. When you learn what doesn't work, you can cross it off the list, bye-bye FOMO.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Taking risks and failing is just part of the journey of learning, you just have to be okay with it. With a nudge, I wake my wife at 3 am, her with one eye open looks at me curiously, I ask the question, 'what is perfect'? "Perfect is just an illusion" then rolls over back to sleep. Not the results I was looking for, but, a great answer nevertheless. Cheers everyone!

Please note that intelligent people may not exhibit all of those traits. There are intelligent people who just aren't musical. There are intelligent people who can't make concise statements nor have a clear picture of the future. And never go to them for advise. Instead of telling you what to do, they confuse you even further because they start rambling about all the ways things could go wrong.
I remember I got called to go for testing for a medical job I was interested in which included a typing test. When it was time for the typing test, as usual, my hands panicked and my mind went blank. After that was an IQ test for about 90 minutes on every subject you could think of from earth quakes to commerce to oceanography etc. I remember working through the questions thinking I know a bit about this or I remember something about that until I got through all the questions. I didn't realize that I knew a little bit about so many things. When I got called in to go over my test results, the lady said 'well you failed the typing test so I can't offer you that job'😂. Then she said I'm very surprised at what a high mark you got on the IQ test, we rarely see that high of a score so I would like to invite you to apply for any other jobs that come up here that interest you. Who knew😃
Desperate and pathetic
To me true intelligent people love to share their knowledge. As usually they themselves think everyone else must have these abilities to right? Also coming from self experience... i love teaching someone something new. Especially on a topic that i know is gonna blow their mind. And ive thought deep into why i enjoy sharing my knowledge... and its because i like the feeling of being the one that blew there mond and give them that feeling of woah! Like i felt when learning something new but more than just learning something new. Teaching them something that actually send there brain into wonder. And i think because when that happens to me. Its like i just unlocked something new in the universe and with this knowledge brings on new questions and new discoveries. And what it boils down too is knowledge is power. But if you can apply common sense, human nature, and physics, you can pretty much make a lot of self discoveries. In physical world around you and how things work... to predicting a social situations because humans are very predictable... because of human nature. Always ask why to everything because theres always a reason for everything in existence. Mentally or physically. But looking at the source of how it exist may not be the right thought pattern or question. But ask yourself why does it exist first. Also on being able to speak confidently on any topic is not intelligence its errogance. I can pick any topic I want and if I'm conversating with someone that talks confidently on any topic is someone whose what I call "the big talker" has been around enough people to have basic knowledge on any topic. As do I. But I could talk confidently on any topic too especially if it's opinion based. Confidence is not intelligence. Confidence is being well prepped in your mind as for what's coming and knowing your gonna nail the conversation with your "information". To me a intelligent person doesn't speak comfident on every topic or else it'd look like arrogance to others. And intelligent people know this. If I feel someone knows alot about a topic we're talking about I let them own it and ask questions to make them feel wiser. Although whatever there saying may be non sense. That simple gesture guarantees when I wanna brain storm about something there gonna stop and listen without assuming I'm arrogant. And to me that's intelligent. Confidence is assuming your outcome is gonna be good based on your prep. But intelligent people always have a bit of skepticism. Even about what they themselves believe to be is true. Confidence is good for certain social situations. But not got being used as a know it all. Who wants to conversate with people like that. Instead let people say what they need to say and give your insight on your perception once they're fully finished. And that's intelligent

I like that the chess game at the last point on the video was the 4 move checkmate. I love using that on people who "know how to play chess". It is an ego-boosting win, but after explaining how it works entirely it sets people in a different mode of competitive thought, where they genuinely expect that I am going to somehow pull that off again so they are extra cautious, making for a very fun rematch.

Every IQ test I have taken lands me with Average intelligence. I have always gravitated to highly intelligent people because they are interesting and some have a sense of humor that's always on. I also have some below-average people in my life and the contrast is crazy..
Interest and pattern recognition is different but interest can serve you well in your willingness to be industrious in those fields
Trust me, the real ones like to be around avarage people. It kind of gets them back to the ground and they need and enjoy it. Almost none of them like to be admired, but likes to share his thoughts very much - SHARE is the keyword here. To them, everyone has a purpose and none of it is less valuable then the other.
Usually smarties think that knowledge should more or less be for everyone to obtain.
@xxxblackvenomxxx I agree-- Sharing knowledge is one of my "special interests." I love learning from others and I enjoy giving someone else an opportunity to learn something new. As a result, I often get asked if I am a teacher. I am not a teacher by profession nor by college diploma. I am a teacher by nature.
The fact that you hang around people that are perceived as more intelligent than you are speaks volumes. Keep doing that, you are shaping and molding ideas, because you like your thought to be challenged. IQ tests are not the be all, end all to intelligence, and here's the kicker, they can change with both time and mood (at time at taking the test)
I will give you a massive boost in toolset as well: ask questions, especially in subjects you are interested in, because intelligent people also like sharing knowledge. I can only speak for myself, however I just like watching seeds I so bloom. And I also appreciate it when others do this to me. It's all about confirmation or denial of ideas anyway.
Also I do not hold much merit in I tests, cos my IQ is apparently 128, and I'm like, hold up, no, I'm an fool, all I do is ask questions and try to better the self.

5 months A little too late I guess I'm sorta like these, I have outbursts of knowledge on occasions (that is what I call it) since I was 10 where I tap into knowledge that sounds crazy but has helped a lot of people out and even weirded them out

No. Intelligence is measurable. There is an IQ factor. You cannot feel that you are intelligent or not.

I prefer to try to understand what is meant when a stranger leaves a comment. Also, there does seem to be a physical reaction present in the case of epiphanies. Should we not call that a feeling?

A man with a low IQ invents something and makes himself rich and generations to follow...that man feels pretty smart. He followed his epiphany feeling over to the nightstand and wrote the invention. He had been inventive and looked at car motors all day. He had accumulated a few intelligences which lead to his discovery. Do you see?
So many points seem to be subject to anxiety and environment. In a competitive, large personnel setting I wouldn't expect a recluse to speak up, nor would I think anyone hyperfocused with all answers and ideas to not be a psychopath.

Agreed! My husband and I are both very intelligent but in completely different ways. Our boss is brilliant in yet another way. Yes, my husband and I work for the same company. Between the three of us, it's a great work environment where we enhance each others' strengths and compensate for each others' weaknesses.

I feel the same way @Jena Halstead. My interests tend to be esoteric and hardly have anyone to talk to about them. It’s a little lonely. But I do find that CZcams and other outlets on the internet give me a place to really expand on those interests; even though it may be vicarious.
@@Longroadtotruth same. I took charge, esp in undergrad bc I was chasing A's! Graduated magna cum laude, which was good enough! For law school, however, I was burnt out & didn't shoot for the top 10%. I got the piece of paper to hang on the wall, & that was enough!
I feel like people who really want to be intelligent will more easily agree with the points in this video. Not saying you're lying but I'm pretty sure you don't have all these traits and you're applying some of them to yourself out of need. Having all 15 is highly exceptional and I don't think even the greatest minds of the world have them all.

According to this video, I'm the smartest person on the planet. I literally do all 15 of these things every single day. I would say my memory isn't perfect by any means, but I'm really good at remembering small details that most people would forget
Photographic memory helps, but mine is more like pictures, & I can't zoom in on text, but can see my notes, & rote memorization helps w/that. It's weird, & there are tricks to learning how. Acronyms help to 'see' what I've written before, & underlining what I read, like reminders. I used to be able to see all my notes cards in my head, too, front & back. That was one of the easiest ways bc I could 'see' each one in my head. Does that make any sense? I've had no need for that in many yrs:) It served me well during my education, & of course, being a Mama, tho, as I'm officially the finder of all lost things lol!
I love being stupid. It gives me a way to be away from others and come up with ideas by myself. Noone wants to surround themselves with idiots.

I have often described myself as just smart enough to myself into a heap of trouble. Also that i know a little about a lot, and lot about a few things. I also refer to my life as a litany of projects in various states of progress. A number of them, being permanently in a state of stop.
According to this, I'm butt average, middle of the road intelligence. Funny thing is, I think I was much more intelligent when I was younger. I've always been shy, marginalized, and told to "hush, go play, not now, we don't care." If no one acknowledges or nurtures intelligence, I believe it dies. Brains atrophy, optimism dwindles, hope fades.
Tesla said that there's no such thing as a genius. You are still that level you just need to get it back. Think of it as a game you starting at level 1 again.

When you're constantly told to "Go play, be quiet," and "don't bother us," by the people who should be encouraging you, listening to you, and affirming you, it sends a certain message of your value and worth.
I learned to read at 3. In second grade they wanted to move me up a grade, and my mom wouldn't let them. In fourth grade I was a straight A student. In seventh grade I was a B student, and by high school I earned a 2.5 gpa. I was a poor kid, so the school didn't put me into any college prep classes. I didn't have the prerequisites to go to college, and I couldn't afford the fees for the ACT, SAT, or college applications.
I was voted quietest in my graduating class. I learned to be quiet, and not bother anyone--which was valued in my home. Good grades and intelligence didn't matter to a mother who dropped out of school, and a step-father who believed children should be seen and not heard. I stayed in my room, reading.
Kids need to be encouraged. They need to be taught, and exposed to things that help their minds grow. They need to be challenged. Opportunities need to be available to them. The brain is a living organ, and it needs exercise. Praising a child does so much to encourage them to learn! I bet the parents of these little geniuses have books available, and puzzles, and learning games. I bet they work with them, and cheer when they succeed.
Even average kids will do better in a supportive environment.
I'm everything said. My house is messy asf not dirty, have projects everywhere and I write music. Also I see things others don't or can't. I know I'm not average. This just reinforced the fact that I know I'm very intelligent and can do whatever I put my mind to and I'm unapologetically honest.

Is there a nonprofit organization helping kids to find what they're best at, so they can focus their skillsets on a certain industry? Is there a forum, or group of like-minded individuals (not MENSA) that come together to brainstorm, and try to solve world or local problems?

I knew from an early age I was different than other kids. For example, I remember early in first grade, we were told to draw a house. And then the pics were hung up after. All the other kids drew those 1D triangle kid type houses. I drew a 3D type house, going back on a diagonal. No one told me to do it, I just did that on my own. When I looked at all the drawings hanging up, and mine was the only one like that, I knew I was more intelligent.
