  • Dale Kreviazuk from UV Pools shows you how your pool equipment operates. Every inground pool will have a few basic necessities which would be a pump and filter most pools have a heater as well. We'll start with the pump over here you have the pump it's very standard single speed round pump. Here you have the electric motor and then this side is called the wet end, this is where the water is. The pipe coming into the front of the pump is coming from the skimmer and this is called the suction side. This means the water is under section so it sucks the water from the pool skimmer to the pump from there it gets pressurized. You can just follow the pipe here and it leads up to the pool filter. This plastic cylinder type pool filter is called a sand filter. It uses a silica sand media to filter your pool water. The water goes into the filter, through the sand and then exits through. There is also one more pipe which is called the backwash pipe and that's used to clean your filter. If you follow this pipe where the filtered water comes out and it leads into the pool heater. This is not a very common pool heater here but it's an electric pool heater. We're running indoor pool and this pool heater works on electricity. The water comes into the heater, goes through the coils that heat it up and then returns back to this pipe which leads back out to the pool. Now you have filtered water, that's been heated that gets returned back to your pool through the eyelets or jets on the pool, that's where you feel the water coming out, that's where the heated filtered water is coming back to the pool.
