My Late Father introduced our family (siblings) to the Dixie Hummingbirds MANY years ago. NO other Quartet compares to them, albeit there are many talented groups out (even up and coming) The "Birds" have set the standard and are a LEADER in Quartet Music ministry excellence. Jackson Southernaires, the Late Joe Ligon & the Mighty Clouds, Swan Silvertones, Late Willie Neal Johnson & the Gospel Keynotes, Spencer Taylor & Highway QC's, The Williams Brothers, Harvey Watkins & Canton Spirituals, Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson, Lee Williams & The Spiritual QC's, Late Howard "Slim" & The Supreme Angels, Blind Boys, Soul Stirrers, (and others), are ALL PHENOMENAL groups
The Dixie hummingbirds may have moved to Philadelphia, but they are originally are from Greenville, South Carolina. We old fans will not forget this fact. I Luv them.
Yes Carl Davis fit them like a glove. The first time I saw Carl with the group I thought he was the son of James Davis. I was really impressed by the way he sanged in different voice ranges
