      JW Classic VW I know how it is, I got 67 that I’m restoring and I had a very tiny space to work on it, just moved last month and order a bunch of new parts! Can’t wait to start on it again. I got a video the one video on it on my channel! Ha! I might have to ask you for some help time to time!

    That’s why I had two engines .One had a dual port two barrel carb that I drove through the week then on weekends I put my racing engine in and street raced it

      @JWClassicVW  Před 5 lety +1

      Oh definitely... lol that's why it's so important to have them dialed in right so you can prevent fuel waste. The new fuel pressure regulator will help with this as well. Thanks for the comment brother!!

    You should put those carbs in Pine-sol they'll come out looking brand new

    Jason. Love all the videos. How big of an engine can you build that wouldn't require external oil cooler or vent tubes in the valve covers.

    • @JWClassicVW
      @JWClassicVW  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Mark, well that is a question that is really based on a few different factors. 1st as for crankcase venting I would say anything over a 1776 will benefit from venting the valve covers. Anytime you vent the case you improve the chance your case will keep from leaking.
      As for an external oil cooler some people say it's not required and that could be possible depending on how you drive. I really like the idea of adding capacity especially with the way I drive and the heat in Texas.

    did the reverse mani's give you extra room left and right distance between carb air filters and engine bay? my cards touch lip of engine bay.

    23:00 the book shows something strange?? Please let me know. Read the fine print on the page and see what the empty settings is? The picture shows 10mm plus 32.5mm per the lines and arrows for a total of 42.5mm.

    Hi Jason, do you have a link to a template to make up those "Industrial under cylinder tins". These are a really good addition for street dubs once the heater boxes have been replaced with J-pipes or header pipes.

    Just watched your Reverse Manifold video. It's the first I have heard of the CB-Performance Space Saver manifolds that reverse the carbs.
    I'm working on a project to reverse some Zenith NDIX 32 carburetors on a 1679cc Dual carb Type 1 that I will put into my 1960 beetle. I figure it will change the width of the engine at the carbs from 36" measuring from the fuel inlet's of the two carbs. I guess Zeniths fit wider than IDF's But it should save a total of 3" so the new width will be 33"" and with a 36 horse fan shroud I should be able to set the idle mix screws that will move to the inside. Any thoughts on what I am doing? Have you ever seen a set of NDIX-32 Zeniths on an early beetle where there is not much room? Thanks Dan www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=638207&start=300

      @JWClassicVW  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Dan, No I can't say I have any real experience with that Zenith carb but it is very interesting. Was it used more on the older 356 engines? I see by the Samba link that they are set up on one.

    • @dagoldfishies
      @dagoldfishies Před 4 lety +1

      Yeah, 57 to 62 or something they were used in Porsche 356's but were also used in all the VW engines as aftermarket. Good carbs for getting the best power out of Small Displacements.
