    I'm not the best Cantonese speaker out there, but I can survive when it comes to DIM SUM! Here's how you can pretend to speak Cantonese too.

    as expected, when an ethnically chinese guy who's grown up in an english--speaking environment instead of a cantonese-speaking one tries to speak some canto, u get a thousand comments telling you your canto isn't up to scratch like "hey 懶音 and your tones are all wrong". the moment a white guy tries speaking a few sentences of cantonese, everybody starts fawning over him and be like 'wow you're so good'. like seriously, check yourselves people.

      zephyr84 It's understandable because I guess their standards for people who are "expected"(ethnic Chinese) to know a language will be harsher in criticism than that of a foreign-looking person that has no connection to the culture.

    I feel like I could do one of these videos for how to pretend to speak Japanese with only using "はじめまして”、”よろしく”、そうです”、そうですね、そうですか、ありがとう(ござます)、and ごめん(なさい)。 Hell, you really only need the sou desu variations to get complimented on your amazing Japanese, if you're white.

    When I was like 13 years old, I stayed at Singapore 🇸🇬 for about 2 years since my dad worked there. My favourite was the dim sum+ I'm good at cantonese because I grew up with cantonese because my dad is a American but also grew up with cantonese 😀

    Actually the word 个 should be 個. Remember the difference between the use of the traditional Chinese characters and the simplified Chinese characters. In HK we should use the first one instead of the second one.

    Went to a Chinese restaurant in Melbourne some years back and the waiter started speaking to me in Cantonese. I kinda panicked and gave him the most bewildered look. Had to have someone translate his question for me.

    Dim Sums are called 'touch the heart' because you don't want to eat too much that it touches your heart, that's why they come in small portions. The whole point of going to Yum Cha (which means to drink tea) is enjoying the tea rather than the food

      Yum cha refers to the name of the meal. Dim sum refers to the dishes you eat during this meal.

      I learnt this cos someone corrected me lol, 多謝 (dòjeh) is thank you for when you receive a gift, mm goi is thanks for a favour, so in most cases you'd use the latter, like in this case you thank a waiter with mm goi / mm goi sai

    I'm pretty sure the first word in dim sum is not touch. They sound similar but are different tones. Also it's raddish, not carrot
