Bravo Jonathan and Katie - possibly the best positioning of living in the meta-crises I've come across. I've seen many! x

Beautiful. This exploration itself is helping to shape a transformation of consciousness. There is no reason, no rationality, no epiphany without love. Have a great weekend.

Thank you, Katie, Jonathan and your team-mates for preparing and sharing this important, open-ended vision about expanding our individual and collective possibilities. I will share these ideas and perspectives with those in my locality (Hawai'i USA), and will personally take them to heart.
As a mental health caregiver, I have also found direction in the work of Iain McGilchrist, as discussed on this channel. McGilchrist provides strong evidence for the transformation you are advocating - beyond the left-brain domination of consciousness in "Western" civilization (disembodied, reductionist, I-it. power-seeking), toward the right-brain's more accurate and expanded awareness of our relations between the miraculous reality of our multicellular collectives, other conscious organisms and the wider cosmos.

Thank you for 33 minutes of in-depth, passionate expression of your thoughts and meta analysis, about meta crisis of the world.
When we human understand the problem clearly the solution will often come to being.
Thank you for sharing, I may have to listen to your presentation again to grasp the full implications.
Human Will understand humanity and will start value adjustments accordingly, I believe.
Meta crisis is caused be few people and companies and 8 billion people would want a sense of normalcy.
Thank you 🎉 I respect your opinion

Thanks Jonathan, this is so well articulated and says pretty succinctly everything about where we are and a lot of what I have been learning/reading/watching about for the last few years from yourself and people like Nora Bateson and John Vervakae and Daniel Shmachtenberger and Iain McGilchrist etc - will be sharing with friends and family saying ‘this! This!’ 😊

This is a wonderful summary of your perspective on the meta crisis as it is now, would perhaps be interesting to hear how it evolves, a video like this every year would be a great series.
Ive personally found it incredibly hard to move from the tragic despairing perspective to the post tragic, but feel my calling is to help others move out of that state and know theyre not alone and quite rational for feeling despairing

Reminds me of The work that reconnects, from systems analyst Joanna Macy (Coming to Life} and others. She calls the next stage - if it is not to be collapse, The Great Turning. Something different we do not yet quite know but we can start to build now.

A very articulate and cohesive vision on the many perspectives, dilemmas and opportunities that surround us. Ultimately, his exploration of ideas lead me to continue valuing my own intuition. It does feel as though an organic revolution of following our ethics and instincts makes more sense than continuing to worship technology, over rationalized views of our world and sheer materialism. We are missing balance because of a hyper-masculine dominance.

There are many pointers towards an emerging recognition of a phenomenon what one could call "psychosphere", the effect of the "communion' part of Thomas Berry's "communion of subjects", and imagine how different a CoP might be if psychosphere was included alongside biosphere, atmosphere, cryosphere and so on, as essential to homeostasis. And that this communion is felt visceral-emotionally at every level (cf autopoesis) and enables direct systemic feedback from the whole to the part, and back again. The very chaos of our times might also be an invitation to participate......

thanks for the hard work. Since crises (of the meta magnitude) are not unknown, just infrequent, the serrated edge here seems to refer to our complicity, which is so multi-determined that it's hard to grasp (let alone alter). At some point, the sun will expand to swallow the earth (not my fault!), and we might even suspect that humans will have vanished long before that (ouch! might be my fault). Another "slow, historical process."
It's hard to not place ourselves at the center of a view no matter the scale. But day to day, the seeming scale is terrifying, mobilizing, activating. I'm stuck being human and thus thinking in ways humans think (and feel, and act).
Pain and suffering have always been a feature of life .. as seen from the vantage point of the human members, anyway.

Hi Jonathan, thank you so much for this. I agree that we need a new consciousness, and what I loved about the film was that it provides some underlying tenets of a credo that might underpin such a new consciousness, such as:
Consciousness is an ontological primary, a fundamental feature of reality.
Value and meaning are inherent to the fabric of reality and are not just socially constructed.
At ease with using the word God though not really knowing what we mean by that.
As you say, this credo has empirical underpinnings, not least in the monumental work Iain McGilchrist has done in The Matter With Things. The problem with such empirical work is that it can be exceptionally hard to follow. But expressed as a credo it becomes something one can attempt to believe, while being reassured by its empirical underpinnings.
I share your credo. Mine also has: mystery is a fundamental feature of reality. Whatever we learn, mystery will always remain.

Id love to speak with you sometime Jonathon? You've really come through and past your association with JP in that temporarily interesting moment. I'm not making comparisons here, but you are consistently more interesting to listen to than he was then!
In particular I was struck when you were speaking with David about Pirsig and the concepts of "Classical" V "Romantic". I had actually thought that I had invented or come up with that notion (or riff on it) as it had become so embeded in my thinking. I had in fact prob picked it up from "Lila".
    Anyway, I'm here.

Gosh this guy is so articulate. What he was saying for me is so profound. We humans are on the wrong path of existence. I feel we are on a path of our own demise! Capitalism is such a destructive force.

Metaphysics begins with intense harcore logic before making assumptions. I don't know what this is or anything within this trend of the "meta-crisis". It may just something well beyond most peoples ability or desire to understand or define. It requires a Godel or a Wittgenstein more tha an Edgar Allen Poe.

We see global pain but although we may wish to cure, heal these geographical localities, from our place as a human sitting somewhere, perhaps even traveling, just as this person has access to sophisticated telecommunication, one realizes that this vital successions of events are moving faster than we can resolve things positively.
In the fabric of the pre-Christian era the pagan formed a culture of the divine which views occurences as created by forces eventually called gods. How do we in 2023 form and define these forces now to live with them constructively. How do we come find a compass given our expanding astronomy of matter scientists have constantly uncovered.

10:24 Politically motivated falsehoods have been in the "information stream" since democracy was first practised. If that was a sufficient reason for abandoning democracy then it would never have gotten started.
