Hector the Horrid is my personal favorite HIT era episode. Thomas is so mature. If the episode was in S2, Thomas would’ve gotten on Hector’s nerves, or would’ve made a snarky remark about Hector’s fear, but instead, Thomas takes the adult approach, doesn’t bother him and once he finds out Hector’s fear, immediately wants to help him. Really, great use of Thomas’s mature side in the HIT era
Couldn't agree more! Hector the Horrid and Thomas & The Statue are both perfect examples of how Thomas should have been used in the later model seasons. The former shows us his more of mature side, and the latter shows us that he still has a few flaws despite how far he has come.

Weather this would be considered a "Thomas" episode or not, my favorite episode has to be Paint Pots and Queens. I just love all the shots in this episode. Its very cinematic in that sense. Its also the cap end on Thomas and Gordon's dynamic. I kinda wish this was the finale for season 4. That way all the seasons based on the books would come full circle. It began with a Thomas and Gordon episode and would end with one. Showing just how much both have grown since the pilot.

I can't think of many I could say are my favorite in the series, but I do love Thomas' Train/A Big Day for Thomas, Thomas in Trouble/Thomas Breaks the Rules, and probably Thomas and the Breakdown Train/Thomas Saves the Day, as it kickstarts the James trilogy, which is one of my favorites.

Now that I think about it, Thomas’s arc in Down the Mine feels a bit similar to his one in Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure. He’s rude to Gordon, does something dangerous and humiliates himself. The difference is that in Down the Mine, Thomas has to be rescued by Gordon and learns his lesson there, whereas in SLOTLT, Thomas proves himself when he tries to stop Sailor John, which is enough to put him back in Topham’s good books. Watching Thomas has really been helping me through my nana’s death lately, and this has been a great video as always Cinder. I love seeing videos like this that highlight Thomas’s best episodes in the show. Anyways, here are some other episodes I would also add as honourable mentions. 1. Ghost Train 2. I adore, how in "Thomas and the missing christmas tree", Thomas is saved by non other than Donald and Douglas. If it weren't for them, Thomas wouldn't have delivered the tree.
Nice list my man! Just see how this little cheeky tank engine had amazing episodes in all the eras of the franchise. Nothing would stop me from loving him. This is going to be a tricky one to choose out top 10 but here: 1. Thomas the Babysitter (he’s just adorable here, the music was great, I like how Annie and Clarabel had speaking roles here. I adore these three.) 2. Not So Slow Coaches (Happy that the Brenner Era gave Thomas his relationship with his own coaches after years of the latter being an NPC) 3. Thomas and the Special Letter (The best Thomas episode in the Model Era, he slowly matures in Season 4 and his crash is one of my all-time favorites of the entire franchise) 4. Thomas and the Breakdown Train (such as nice way to end his arc as a main station shunter.) 5. Thomas and Bertie (I love his race with Bertie) 6. Unscheduled Stops (Love him here, Topham was hilarious, and Bulgy makes his return) 7. Dream On (This sets up Thomas so well to accept his strength and weaknesses and he doesn’t need to be great as anyone else. 8. Down the Mine (Loved his alliance with Gordon, I agree what you said that it would be better if Paint Pots and Queens would be the S1 finale because the show started with the two. 9. Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree (S Tier episode in general) 10. Lost Property (Nothing much to say about this, but it’s a great episode of the blue tank engine in the Brenner era) Not So Slow Coaches is why Annie and Clarabel are also my favorite characters along with Thomas. That was before Thomas and the trucks, not that my opinion matters just something I like to point out.
This is a cool list! My favourite Thomas (character) episode is Thomas and the Statue, because it balanced his flaws with his qualities perfectly. He's arrogant and annoying when he thinks a statue is of him, but he didn't mean to annoy his friends, so he makes it up to them by volunteering to clear every single line with his snowplough, which is great consistency there! This is a hot take, but I'm not a fan of those episodes where he's a 100% saint, like Trust Thomas and Thomas and the Storyteller. I prefer the ones where he's got his flaws but isn't a total jerk, which is what Thomas and the Statue does best.
Good selections there Cinder. I can’t wait for your list for Edward. My favorite Thomas episode from each of the classic seasons: Season 1: Down the Mine. It is an excellent penultimate conclusion to the arcs of Thomas and Gordon. This should have been the Season 1 finale instead of Thomas’ Christmas Party imo. Season 2: Thomas Comes to Breakfast. Similar to what you described, this episode is the epitome of Thomas’ character traits in Season 2. His ego and arrogance are at an all-time high and his simultaneous crash is very iconic. Season 3: Thomas, Percy and the Dragon. Thomas getting payback on Percy, whether intentional or not is so amusing and more satisfying than in Woolly Bear. Season 4: Thomas and Stepney. This one perfectly showcases all of Thomas’ character traits, making his personality more balanced. His hot-headed and egotistical nature, and his kind and empathetic heart. Season 5: Thomas, Percy and Old Slow Coach. Thomas’ appearances vary a lot in this episodic season, and this is one of his best episodes. It’s all fun, fiery and wholesome. Season 6: It’s Only Snow. Thomas’ truest form of this season is shown here, his disdain for snowplows and his willingness to battle through tough situations. Season 7: Three Cheers for Thomas. It makes a good sequel to Season 1, a perfect finale to the classic series and a great recap of Thomas’ character journey from start to finish. My favorite post-classic era Thomas episodes: 1. Do you know something, at our age looking back on the silly things we were frightened of as little ones, is not something we should be afraid of doing because when you grow up it is really quite amusing if not hilarious. My favourite Thomas the Tank Engine episode will surely be the pilot episode: Down the Mine which I believe will be remastered for the 80th anniversary for Thomas the Tank Engine next year. i have down the mine as an episode on a vhs tape. fraid the arc that really eluded me for season 1 was part of henry's arc. i missed henry's special coal along with the flying kipper accident
I just rewatched Thomas, Percy and the coal this morning and I noticed some things: 1. Thomas’ driver or fireman is peering out of the cab when he has his coversation with Toby and Percy. I think he wants to say something like “Stop arguing and get a move on” 2. The sound effect of the trucks bumping into Percy when Percy derails is louder in the US dub and I actually never noticed the sound effect being present in the Uk dub before 3. Percy is worried when Thomas is being covered in coal, showing he has at least some respect for him. But can’t hold his laughter 4. You can see the breakvan wobbling in the clip after Thomas says “Get me out” 5. In the scene of Toby taking Annie and Clarabel you can see studio equipment, a truck being shunted but no sound effects and the fat controller arguing with some staff and a signalman (I wonder what that coversation was about. Probably something like “You weren’t paying a attention when loading Percy’s trucks and didn’t see Thomas you incompetent prats”) 6. In the Japanese dub Thomas has some lines of dialogue in the first shed scene 7. In the first shot of the water collom you can see studio exquipment 8. In the scene where Thomas and Percy make up you can see a blue light in the shed. Or maybe it’s just me.

My favorite episodes that are about Thomas. Thomas and the emergency cable: This episode did have Thomas complain later on but Thomas had a good reason for refusing to stop at Dryaw since the birdwatcher had damaged one of his closest friends. Hector the horrid: You dont f**k with Thomas... 😡😠 This episode has a good moral about showing the audience what makes some people the way they are. Whether he or she is kind, mean, sad or angry, happy or horrid there is always something that makes him or her act the way they are. Thomas' animal ark: A good BWBA era episode to me. The scene with James and the ostrich egg always has me laughing alot... 😂🥚 Thomas the babysitter: My parents during my baby days in a nutshell be like: Happy birthday sir: The best Nitrogen Era episode. 👌 Diesel and the ducklings: The most bad@$$ Ive seen Thomas act... 😈 Terence breaks the ice: This was a great way for Terence to return to the show. It feels like a reversed version of the first time Thomas and Terence met each other which was also brought up in the episode. And you know about Thomas and his best episodes he really is a fun character you can write with and some episodes you can write him as a cheeky character with a slight hint of maturity and I have to agree that most of these episodes are prime example of how you make a Thomas episode with Thomas’ true character and while Thomas may not be one of my favorite characters, he is one of my honorary favorite characters

Now that I think about it, Thomas’s arc in Down the Mine feels a bit similar to his one in Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure. He’s rude to Gordon, does something dangerous and humiliates himself. The difference is that in Down the Mine, Thomas has to be rescued by Gordon and learns his lesson there, whereas in SLOTLT, Thomas proves himself when he tries to stop Sailor John, which is enough to put him back in Topham’s good books.
Watching Thomas has really been helping me through my nana’s death lately, and this has been a great video as always Cinder. I love seeing videos like this that highlight Thomas’s best episodes in the show. Anyways, here are some other episodes I would also add as honourable mentions.

I honestly think Thomas's best episode is Trust Thomas in Season 3, it's the episode that has Thomas at his most kindest, always trying to help a friend out
I adore, how in "Thomas and the missing christmas tree", Thomas is saved by non other than Donald and Douglas.
If it weren't for them, Thomas wouldn't have delivered the tree.

Nice list my man! Just see how this little cheeky tank engine had amazing episodes in all the eras of the franchise. Nothing would stop me from loving him. This is going to be a tricky one to choose out top 10 but here:
1. Thomas the Babysitter (he’s just adorable here, the music was great, I like how Annie and Clarabel had speaking roles here. I adore these three.)
2. Not So Slow Coaches (Happy that the Brenner Era gave Thomas his relationship with his own coaches after years of the latter being an NPC)
3. Thomas and the Special Letter (The best Thomas episode in the Model Era, he slowly matures in Season 4 and his crash is one of my all-time favorites of the entire franchise)
4. Thomas and the Breakdown Train (such as nice way to end his arc as a main station shunter.)
5. Thomas and Bertie (I love his race with Bertie)
6. Unscheduled Stops (Love him here, Topham was hilarious, and Bulgy makes his return)
7. Dream On (This sets up Thomas so well to accept his strength and weaknesses and he doesn’t need to be great as anyone else.
8. Down the Mine (Loved his alliance with Gordon, I agree what you said that it would be better if Paint Pots and Queens would be the S1 finale because the show started with the two.
9. Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree (S Tier episode in general)
10. Lost Property (Nothing much to say about this, but it’s a great episode of the blue tank engine in the Brenner era)
Not So Slow Coaches is why Annie and Clarabel are also my favorite characters along with Thomas. Thomas had amazing arcs and moments here despite being screwed up in the HiT, Nitrogen, and BWBA Era. The show wouldn’t be the same without him. Anyways nice video mate!

Down the Mine has always been my favourite Thomas centred episode. My reasons for it are pretty much the same as yours.
Seeing them episodes from the model years, does always feel so memorable for me to this day,
got a few favourites that I can always remember.
You mentioned how at the end of breakfast how Toby and Percy smile, Percy definitely won't be smiling 2 episodes later.
Thomas does have a lot of stand-out episodes even if some are bad but I do like some of them as well.

One more thing, I like to point out that Thomas train was beginning of his ark that begins to fail. That was before Thomas and the trucks, not that my opinion matters just something I like to point out.
This is a cool list!
My favourite Thomas (character) episode is Thomas and the Statue, because it balanced his flaws with his qualities perfectly. He's arrogant and annoying when he thinks a statue is of him, but he didn't mean to annoy his friends, so he makes it up to them by volunteering to clear every single line with his snowplough, which is great consistency there!
This is a hot take, but I'm not a fan of those episodes where he's a 100% saint, like Trust Thomas and Thomas and the Storyteller. I prefer the ones where he's got his flaws but isn't a total jerk, which is what Thomas and the Statue does best.

My favorite Thomas episode from each of the classic seasons:
Season 1: Down the Mine. It is an excellent penultimate conclusion to the arcs of Thomas and Gordon. This should have been the Season 1 finale instead of Thomas’ Christmas Party imo.
Season 2: Thomas Comes to Breakfast. Similar to what you described, this episode is the epitome of Thomas’ character traits in Season 2. His ego and arrogance are at an all-time high and his simultaneous crash is very iconic.
Season 3: Thomas, Percy and the Dragon. Thomas getting payback on Percy, whether intentional or not is so amusing and more satisfying than in Woolly Bear.
Season 4: Thomas and Stepney. This one perfectly showcases all of Thomas’ character traits, making his personality more balanced. His hot-headed and egotistical nature, and his kind and empathetic heart.
Season 5: Thomas, Percy and Old Slow Coach. Thomas’ appearances vary a lot in this episodic season, and this is one of his best episodes. It’s all fun, fiery and wholesome.
Season 6: It’s Only Snow. Thomas’ truest form of this season is shown here, his disdain for snowplows and his willingness to battle through tough situations.
Season 7: Three Cheers for Thomas. It makes a good sequel to Season 1, a perfect finale to the classic series and a great recap of Thomas’ character journey from start to finish.

Do you know something, at our age looking back on the silly things we were frightened of as little ones, is not something we should be afraid of doing because when you grow up it is really quite amusing if not hilarious. My favourite Thomas the Tank Engine episode will surely be the pilot episode: Down the Mine which I believe will be remastered for the 80th anniversary for Thomas the Tank Engine next year. Yeh, I know how you feel, what ye thinking: "Nest year: but I want it now."

i have down the mine as an episode on a vhs tape. fraid the arc that really eluded me for season 1 was part of henry's arc. i missed henry's special coal along with the flying kipper accident
Coal was another episode that eluded for YEARS, even more so than Down The Mine.
I just rewatched Thomas, Percy and the coal this morning and I noticed some things:
1. Thomas’ driver or fireman is peering out of the cab when he has his coversation with Toby and Percy. I think he wants to say something like “Stop arguing and get a move on”
2. The sound effect of the trucks bumping into Percy when Percy derails is louder in the US dub and I actually never noticed the sound effect being present in the Uk dub before
3. Percy is worried when Thomas is being covered in coal, showing he has at least some respect for him. But can’t hold his laughter
4. You can see the breakvan wobbling in the clip after Thomas says “Get me out”
5. In the scene of Toby taking Annie and Clarabel you can see studio equipment, a truck being shunted but no sound effects and the fat controller arguing with some staff and a signalman (I wonder what that coversation was about. Probably something like “You weren’t paying a attention when loading Percy’s trucks and didn’t see Thomas you incompetent prats”)
6. In the Japanese dub Thomas has some lines of dialogue in the first shed scene
7. In the first shot of the water collom you can see studio exquipment
8. In the scene where Thomas and Percy make up you can see a blue light in the shed. Or maybe it’s just me.

Thomas and the emergency cable: This episode did have Thomas complain later on but Thomas had a good reason for refusing to stop at Dryaw since the birdwatcher had damaged one of his closest friends.
Hector the horrid: You dont f**k with Thomas... 😡😠
This episode has a good moral about showing the audience what makes some people the way they are. Whether he or she is kind, mean, sad or angry, happy or horrid there is always something that makes him or her act the way they are.
Thomas' animal ark: A good BWBA era episode to me.
The scene with James and the ostrich egg always has me laughing alot... 😂🥚
Thomas the babysitter: My parents during my baby days in a nutshell be like:

Terence breaks the ice: This was a great way for Terence to return to the show. It feels like a reversed version of the first time Thomas and Terence met each other which was also brought up in the episode.
Old reliable Edward: Thomas is also the GOAT in this episode than just Edward for how he helps him get back at Gordon for being an ungrateful @$$hole... 😎💙
