Ah, that tone! Big-boned tenderness. Wonderful. Thank you for posting.
Well-expressed.
Lovely version of my favourite Bacharach song.
I’ve never heard this tune by Sonny and enjoyed it very much. He never disappoints and always gives me more inspiration for my playing.
I love Sonny Rollins. ❤️ I penned lyrics to St Thomas many years ago and taught them to school children in Trenton NJ.
Thank you so much, George.
Sonny Rollins tone is truly magical...love this Bacharach song.
Thanks for your words and insights brother. Sonny played so sadly, so desolately, a really lonely sound and heavy funeral phrasing, what a broken heart! It made me cry, Jazz Guy! 😪
Music can do that to you!
Gorgeous melody and interpretation. Sonny's sound is just incredible.
Once again you made my day complete. Thanks. Jazz lives forever.
Sonny Rollins once said, Jazz will never die. You can't kill a spirit.
Thank you, John, beautifully delivered
The beauty is unattainable. The emotion in the playing, the utter feeling. You can look at Sonny rollins when he plays and just know. I can’t wrap my head around humans that have lived like this, in the life of music and people and emotion. Very strong
Well said
Thanks again. I learned a few things about Sonny from your intro, and yet again the performance footage is top quality. I hear there’s a new biography of Sonny coming out in Decemeber. Until then I have your great videos!
Keep 'em coming Bret. I'm ready!!
More to come!

A House Is Not A Home (Live) · Sonny Rollins
Lyrics by Hal David!
Composer Burt Bacharach,
A chair is still a chair
Even when there's no one sitting there
But a chair is not a house
And a house is not a home
When there's no one there to hold you tight
And no one there you can kiss good night
A room is still a room
Even when there's nothing there but gloom
But a room is not a house
And a house is not a home
When the two of us are far apart
And one of us has a broken heart
Now and then I call your name
And suddenly your face appears
But it's just a crazy game
When it ends it ends in tears
Darling, have a heart
Don't let one mistake keep us apart
I'm not meant to live alone
Turn this house into a home
When I climb the stair and turn the key
Oh, please be there still in love with me
Thanks! Never saw the lyrics before.
@@JazzVideoGuy Avec joie ! All the best !
