As of this writing, Sonny is still living amongst us at 93 years old. No longer playing due to pulmonary fibrosis in the lung, but still living and granting interviews here and there. One of the greatest jazz musicians to ever walk the earth.

Lol the intro is so funny. For those who don't know swedish, he says something like "his music can be described as hardcore, stressful, angry and ruthless" 😂

Sonny Rollins--the towering Colossus of Jazz-- took some breaks from performing to perfect his craft (in his own eyes and ears), and watching this video from 1959, it strikes me that bassist Henry Grimes dropped out of the jazz world for over 30 years, resurfacing in 2002 to go on making more amazing music. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Grimes

The King s20 Silver Sonic with a DR Link was one of Sonny's best sounding setups, this is a terrific clip.

@@benoitz5976 To be brief, no I don't know why Sonny would be moving his right hand one step down while he's playing. But I can see him moving his right hand down to press the lower right hand side key, with the side of his right hand, such as at 9:25, at 11:15 he appears to be resting his right hand.

He musta kept a King in stash, though this one's ca +/- 56 or later. He was playing a King to start with, but I believe you see him in the trio NY 57 playing a Selmer.

@@benoitz5976 The right hand thumbhook on the Super 20 is too small, making it uncomfortable on the right wrist to play for long periods. Martins have this same problem. I agree the Super 20 sounds great and that is probably why Sonny was dealing with the discomfort to play it. But the Mark VI is much more comfortable.

en rättelse jag skulle tro att det är Elvin Jones trumset, han spelade med John Coltrane under åren 1961-62 och var i Stockholm 62 i en bejublad konnser med John Coltrane!
