Who could've imagined that one day TV would suck so much that I would be watching old commercials for entertainment. But here I am....
I agree with that one 100%! I'm here too.
same lol, i watch for the memories, these realllly take me back.
You must have a pathetic life.I am here for the memories from my childhood
@@smackdowner "you must have a pathetic life," said the CZcams troll. Mr. Pot, I presume.....
You know .. God help us all.
These commercials make me miss my mom. She said these are some of the best years in your life and informed that I would miss them... I rolled my eyes and laughed. She was right, but mostly what I miss most is her. As much as I loved being a teen in the 80's, I miss most all the great times I had with my mom. I love my family, but I wouldn't mind going back to a good day with my mom in 87.
I miss them, too.
@@goldeneagle335 I couldn't said it better; just one day with Mama in 87 would be the best gift ever!
Amy, you're so right--my birthday is Sept. 9, a milestone I shared with my mom. She's been gone for three years, and we can no longer celebrate together--but when I watch these clips, I picture myself parked on the floor in front of the TV, with her and Dad behind me in their recliners.
@@meganhussey972 Happy Early Birthday!
Just one of those things where you wish you had known to live more in the moment instead of looking ahead.
Amy Harris Or looking behind for that matter. Time I turned this off, I think.
Makes me wish I could crawl inside this screen and crawl out into my parent's livingroom back in the day.
hahah
Yeah
HardRockMiner I wish I could too. Except they let me eat & drink in there; sit on the furniture and lay on the then shag carpet ... you know, how they let my kids do now. Hahaha 😂🤣 I love love these old commercials and made for TV movies from back in the day. We had it made and didn’t know it.
Yes for a day or two then back to today
i know, these are time capsules unlocking memories in our brains
The nostalgia makes me so happy thinking of the best times of my life as a child. It also makes my heart ache because I’m stuck in a constant cesspool that is life in 2020. Opening a brand new Nintendo on Christmas morning in 1988 just gives me a feeling that is hard to shake when I start watching these commercials. We all wanted to grow up so fast I wish I cherished every minute with my family back then
I remember shopping with my family at the mall... All lit up at night... Seeing my dad carrying a bag with a NES he just bought for Christmas
Ryan Semrau I relate for this comment so much. A certain joy back then that I haven’t had for years. These videos are like a time machine. And you’re right that we wanted to Grow up sooo quickly. If we only knew. Sighhhhh
I agree.
Royalty and elites get that feeling for life. It ends for the poppers
There is something so comforting about these commercials. Ive found myself watching these and shows from the 80s and 90s lately and i just feel happy and safe. It reminds me of the daytime tv i used to watch when i stayed home from school because i was sick.
I was 8 years old and remember most of those commercials!!!!!! R.I.P. Peter Jennings
Peter Jennings was the best.
I loved the guy too
I was 9 I remember bout 90% of these
Same!
I'm 43 years old and this takes me back to my childhood growing up in Falls Church VA. All these old commercials makes me think about the good old days. Makes me miss my mom whom passed away a couple years ago.
Burke, Va
Grandma passed in Falls church tho
The Dad in the hot wheels commercial trying to buy his sons love lol
Doc Brightside seems about right.
It was sad in a way , the Father became a Sale's Man like his Father probably and the cycle repeats itse!f .
Nah I don't think it's necessarily like that. Could be but not always. I was about the age of the kid there at the time. My father's been gone a number of years now. All I have now are my memories of him and they're fading every year. Did he tell me that he loved me from time to time at that age? I'm sure but I don't remember particular instances of this in the way all my memories from that time have faded like this old VHS tape. What I do remember is relatively little things like that say Hot Wheels on Christmas mornings. It wasn't at all about the dollar value or what the product was exactly he had little to spend to begin with. There were no latest-game-systems or big-money-presents regularly on offer. And these are some of the things that I remember of him as a grown man 35 years on. I can't "prove" my father loved me, but I can say I think "love is, is love does" and that I remember what I remember.
So, I can definitely see how one might view a toy company as exploiting sentiment for financial gain. And they do. But I don't ever think of my father as trying to "buy" anything from me, that's on them. I like to think he had nobler goals, but still had to operate in the environment as it came.
Doc Brightside It was the 80s that’s how yuppies show love.
Yeah, you're right! 😡😂😂😂
Tired of Google ads interrupting me watching ads.
Lol 🤣
Oh my gosh. I literally thought the same thing.
i wish i could have just stayed in these times. i remember all this.
Me too.
I used to hate most of the commercials back then. Now I’m watching them on CZcams. It’s become a time capsule of sorts
Presumably, you're blocking or skipping the YT ads that appear during the video's "1987" ads...
Yeah, its like looking into a window to the past. The best nostalgia trip
yeah dude, all the old shows have been digitized and upgraded to hi-def but no one is going to bother doing that for commercials so it adds even more nostalgia. wasn't born in 87 but not too far after but holy heck those old crt tv's seemed so clear back then and now pretty much everyone is used to 1080p/4k+. they actually had to "try" instead of rely on graphics
There used to be a wholesome warmth within our family-oriented culture, and it shined through our movies, television, and even our commercials. I'm not sure when we lost it, but it's gone, along with our innocence. Maybe it's from technology, consumerism, a change in morals, or all of the above. How heartbreaking.
Easy answer: The Internet. All of a sudden, the world was at your fingertips, and this no longer meant that a "living room" culture could be sustained. It happened during the second half of the '90s. The person above mentioned how it was wonderful not hearing or seeing the phrase ".com" every minute.
@@pannoni8449 Very true- it's like the internet highlights people's innermost worst thoughts. People have a natural filter in face-to-face encounters and are usually more polite.
"I don't care what they're calling this new strain of flu"
Wait...this is 1987 right??
March, 2020: "Screw it--I'm just going to go out in public and congregate with 50 or more people and touch anything that looks dirty, and not use hand sanitizer. So there."
U saw that me 2 smh
Best one to watch, during Corona time.
New strains of flu every year since 1987😂🦠😷
Interrupts her: covid 19
I want my childhood back.
Thats because you didnt appreciate when you had the chance, but you do have the chance to make your kids have great childhood.
I saw all these 30 years ago. They were the crap I had to watch between the good shows. Now I’m watching compilations of them on CZcams.
@@delljr2769 Not true. Got to clear all the garbage that accumulated to adulthood. See through trauma free eyes.
@@delljr2769 Maybe it's just that being an adult sucks?
I would make a cynical comment on how corporate product placement has brainwashed and indoctrinated us into their circles, but then again, I use Twitter.
In Hidden Valley, they put ranch on everything.

RIP Payless Shoe Source.
I used to call it Wearless. 😁
I miss the 80's so f'in much!!

As a kid we’d joke and say “Calgon take me away!” Now as a mom of 3 boys I can finally understand. Btw- wish I could go back to my childhood just for a little bit!
I so agree with you.
Only now do I understand the phrase, I remember rapper Big Daddy Kane mentioned it in a song that became popular when I was in 11th grade in 1989 and since I have never lived abroad, even with cable TV being available at the time, I never understood exactly what he meant. Some things just went under the radar from afar. And BTW music is probably the best time machine available, or at least the most fun! Kudos on being able to handle 3 boys! I am a father of five, two boys and three girls, two of them already adults, and my youngest boy, 4 at this moment, has so much energy that he sometimes makes everyone around wish for some Calgon ;) I enjoy it though, as it is all in good fun!
Come on CZcams stop showing me ads so I can go back to watching... ads.
Ad block.
😂😂😂
Its recursive.
fast forward to the end click replay and it drops all the ads. I've tried it it works

I’m here for the Toys R Us and NES system advertising
Can't beat that price , $79.99 !

Damn I was 11 years old in 87 I remember these commercials like they were yesterday. I still say and remember that Dog from Snausagges. And I remember my mom having some of those perfumes and boy did they stink.

What you watching this on then, a freaking SEGA MASTER SYSTEM? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's weird not to see anyone holding a cell phone.

It still feels like the future.
It certainly did to Marty McFly, in Back to the Future. LOL

Elmo is so annoying my kids don't watch it.
Man 1987 one of the best Christmas years ever. I lived in DC and this was my moms main station. Sad that TV today sucks.

😂It did look good. Too bad it would come to about $24.95 now with a coupon🤦
Plus tax here in Canada
Miss Mary, I know, you couldn't get that deal today.
Please please I want to go back to the 80's
If you owned a Apple computer then, you was wealthy
I wonder if someone 30 years from now will watch a compilation of the ads I keep skipping
There are a few good ads now, but the vast majority are terrible. I don't think anyone will come back.
Yeah, 30 years from now--assuming CZcams, or something similar, still exists online--they'd probably have to watch ads from the 60s/70s/80s, maybe 90s, to see anything entertaining and/or worthwhile.
They definitely will be interested in reviewing old ads. This is all nostalgia driven.
Assuming they care for money lenders, debt relief and accident injury.
No, because they effin suck
In 1987, I was about the same age as the little boy in that Hot Wheels commercial, and I had that Stow N’ Go garage playset too. I probably collected over two thousand different Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, which are still in a big plastic box somewhere in my parents’ basement, near the Legos, G.I. Joes, and dinosaur figures! Good memories!!
Go get them man...display them..have a part of your past with you..
Oh my gosh, I was a week shy of 4 years old. I remember all these. Wow! What a throw back. I loved how they got the point and were upfront and not dumb. So Awesome!
I was working with my husband at KFC during that time! We were 16!
My folks always made sure to have KFC at least once during the holidays!
Hot chicken
prices triple now 10 PCs 2 sides and biscuits yeah you paying 20+
women that stay married are so rare, wish we could have the 80`s values in women again.
You guys were already married at 16? And living on a KFC "salary"? Wow.

Yes, but at the same time, I just wish I could go back period because the times were just simpler as well as more enjoyable. Not sure if that's got anything to do with our loved ones passed away or what... also, we weren't adults as well and we didn't have to "adult" then, all we had to do was just get up on Saturday mornings and watch those awesome Saturday morning cartoons and such.. 16:50 Bryan Cranston - Children's Tylenol
54:48 Brian George
0:21 - a very young Thora Birch for Quaker Instant Oatmeal
