No idea what the show is but here's an interview with Carry On star Kenneth Connor Carry On Confidential - the thinking fan's guide to the Carry Ons. Available at www.miwk.com
It's funny for me that he mentions his garden. When I was about 10 or 11 I was with a group of friends one summer and we were walking up the private road he lived on in South Harrow. We spotted him in his garden watering the lawn with a hosepipe and all of us climbed up the fence to see him. One of us shouted 'Oi Kenneth' and he turned around, stood to attention and saluted us with a smile on his face. We all cheered and laughed then went off up the road. Anyone else would have shouted at us and called the police. Many years later my ex-girlfriend had to do the flowers for his funeral. He was a real character.
Absolutely unbelievable to hear Kenneth Connor's actual voice after only knowing and hearing him as Mons. Alphonse the French undertaker from Allo Allo. I am BLOWN AWAY! What a great actor!
Very funny man offstage too & generous. He was in a play at the theatre royal, bath with Bernard Cribbins , for a week in the late 70s when I was a stage doorkeeper there. I wrote a limerick for him which he found funny.
The programme was an ITV lunchtime chatshow called Gas Street which only ran a few weeks. Vince Hill alternated with Suzi Quatro as the host/interviewer. I remember watching this particular interview over 20 years ago, amazing to see it again after so long. Thanks for uploading it.
Oh my god he has a posh accent? I'm so used t'hearin' him do a cockney one, I'm a bit surprised!!! But den he was always great at accents!!! R.I.P. Kenneth Connor!!!
This great actor was brilliant at doing different roles & voices - listen to "Parsley Sidings" where he frequently played more than one part & did so very well. Played alongside Arthur Lowe.
@Debbie321lopez He actually died 4 years after this episode. He references his friend Kenneth Williams dying the year before, which was in 1988, so the clip is 1989 - Kenneth C died in 1993. According to Wikipedia it was in Noel Edmonds' Telly Addicts in which he died two days after appearing.
The programme it was from could have been Gas Street, which was Central's sub-Pebble Mill attempt at a lunchtime chat show, which was on circa 1988 (or perhaps 1989 as mentioned below), anc could have been Central's attempt to get the Granada This Morning slot. The title gets its name from the Gas Street where Central's studios moved to in Birmingham from Broad Street.

French-Belgian undertaker to be precise.
Kenneth was a great actor who was so different in real life from his on-screen persona. Thanks for uploading.
Such a well spoken gentleman.
Very good with the accents.

He is so like his Carry On. Slowly talking and sounding Extremilly High Class which is what I love.
Love Kenneth Connor. Had a bit of a crush on him as the Lovesick Doctor in Carry on Cruising😍😉

DPMay you mean it was filmed in Gas Street , Birmingham!
Great singer but Vince seems tentative and a bit lost asking questions. A struggle rather than smooth, like his singing in fact. What a contrast!
Excellent actor and true gent x
gr8 actor kenneth connor :)
the interveiwer needs a refresher course in interveiwing though :l
Kenneth was one of the few surviving Carry-on cast who was offered a part in "CARRY ON COLUMBUS" (1992), but he declined, as did most of the others.
Frankie Howard agreed to appear in CARRY ON COLUMBUS, but he died just two days before filming commenced.
Such well spoken, charming man x

Yes if you had any idea about anything but the Carry On Films you would know he was a classically trained actor who did so much more...
This great actor was brilliant at doing different roles & voices - listen to "Parsley Sidings" where he frequently played more than one part & did so very well. Played alongside Arthur Lowe.
Great Kenneth Connor great actor love him in carry on films so funny sadly missed by many fans

Swiftly and with style, Monsieur Alfonse, I have a small horse with a small hearse 😂😂
Liked him on Carry On Cleo, fine performance.

lOvely man and great actor.
He sounds like Anthony Hopkins. Love Kenny Connor
Wee love you x
Connor was very grand in real life. He always viewed the Carry Ons as beneath him.
Great. Thanks!
wow a rare interview here and now he is dead and everyone else is aswell pretty much
" As you continue in your quotations; you will not be speaking the name of the Scottish play? " "One must never speak the name of the Scottish play."
@skittermuster Yeah I reacted without thinking, I confused ;)
Remembering bill owen
Kenneth Connor is always ill at ease in interview so what chance as he here with such an atrocious interviewer.
Be fair: Vince Hill is a singer, so it's more a chat with a fellow performer.
Probably because Ken wasn't going to make any money out of the DVDs!
He Died 2 day's later of this episode :s
Debbie321lopez no he didn’t he died in 1993 , this interview was from 1988/89
That wast at all an awkward interview. No chemistry at all.
Comes across as a bit of a big head, acting is very well rewarded and its not life saving, or vital to anyone's well being!
Everyone's a critic; that's easy.
