- If you’re thinking of finally building your own personal portfolio website, I’ve got something important to share.
Since I’ve started this channel I’ve made quite a few “Web Developer Reacts to Personal Portfolios” videos, and while trying to dig up the most amazing and original portfolio websites of web developers, designers and sometimes agencies, I’ve also noticed something really concerning. Something that might actually cost you your clients (imho of course) In this video I share my thoughts about this something, and talk about how it can be avoided when building your own personal portfolio.
I hope this video is useful and prevents you from making those horrible mistakes.

@odddirector great video. I'm having difficulty coming up with ideas when I cant find other interesting websites to find inspiration. I'm a real estate broker, and want to try and create my own website from scratch. Unfortunately all real estate websites Ive seen are super generic and boring.

Wow yes, real estate does sound like a difficult area to find creativity in 😅Well done for looking! I think its rare.
awwwards.com is good for all kinds of web design inspiration, have a look at it if you haven't yet.
And for building the site itself, I'd recommend using some website builder, like wordpress for example, take a theme you like and modify it, so you can focus on the creative part and not worry much about the technical part (unless you have experience in coding of course).
Also, a good idea doesn't mean complex coding. Actually its often the opposite -- all good ideas are fairly simple, and working with limited tools and resources helps you be more creative.
