"Read the manual". Yep! When I taught motorcycle safety, we used to say, "If you have any questions, Ask Mom!" using the acronym "MOM", Motorcycle Owner's Manual. In this case, it could stand for "Manufacturer Owner's Manual".

Compromise is big. Be willing to change direction. We’re still very new, only a few months into full time RVing. We got the Momentum 376THS-R. Starting out I personally didn’t like this model bc you don’t get the patios like traditional Toy Haulers. I hated that deeply. But we race motocross. Therefore we needed that living space for us and our 6 yr old boy. While maintaining permanent storage for race bikes in the RV. Turned out that the 376THS-R was perfect for our all around needs and I had to compromise by not getting the cool patio. Zero regret and we’re making the most of this new journey.

I love your channel. My husband & I are avid RVer’s but own our own corporation so doing this full time is not in the cards for us. I personally would love to see how you fix up your gorgeous log cabin, decorate, etc along with your RV videos. It’s life. And that changes all the time. Good luck and really hoping you get well and are able tolerate the treatments really well with some much needed rest. Thank you for your advice and recommendations as well as the repair and upgrade videos.

My wife wants to "kinda" full time doing dog shows for like 6-7 months across the country then come home. We already have the class A. So this past month we tried a multi-state trip to try it out. She has come to the conclusion it's not for her. She is too stressed being the passenger, hates the constant set-up and break-down for the three days or so traveling to the next location. Also, the dogs don't like it! They miss the doggie door to the 1500 sq. ft. of lawn back at home.
While we do use the class A every 2-3 weeks, we have found full time or several months won't work.

Hi guys, watching your episode where you’re getting advice from other RV’rs. I’m single and retired last year. I like you am renting my house for the first year and the renters want to buy it completely furnished (everything except my personal stuff) I even put my car in storage. I’ll be going full time for the first year, then decide whether I want to continue or buy a cottage in Florida. My motorhome is a 24’ 2002 Class A and I pull an enclosed trailer with my 1963 Chevy Nova SS to drive (if needed) I also have an e-bike for every day use to go to stores, laundry, adventures, etc. Hope to see y’all out on the road.

We had ordered a Tiffin Wayfarer twin bed model here in Texas. When it was delivered the RV inspector sent us a 180 page report, 140 problems, 40 pictures. We knew we were in line to buy a lemon. Spoke to our salesman at Vogt RV and said, No. We ordered an LTV rear twin bed model. Folks, spend the money on an inspector. We will have the LTV also inspected upon arrival. The Tiffin's generator did not work under power, there was a hole in the slide. It was a nightmare.

Me and the wife are recently retired. We thought about going full time, but it didn’t make sense for us to do so. We have a fully paid for house, our kids and grandkids live less than 5 minutes away. We live in Florida, (where it seems half of all full timers live in the winter!) We love the Florida waters for great things like fishing, diving, scalloping and lobstering. We currently have a 2019 Grand Design Momentum 376th that we take on short getaways and month(s) long trip whenever we want. We both feel very blessed for the lives we live!

Hey guys, great video! My wife and I are starting our full time adventure in October. I am a 54 yr old retired police officer and my wife is a real estate agent. The one topic I am surprised no-one discussed was planning and booking your sites. Being retired, I was hoping we could just head out on the road and wing it, stay as long as we want at each campground and move when we get bored. We learned real quick when trying to book camp sites that you have to plan months and sometime years in advance to stay at places you want to stay.We haven't even left yet and we have spent months planning our 6 month vacation in the US. Even with all of this planning we are still very excited for our next adventure RVing. We love your channel and look forward to your video each and every week.

never trust a computer, have paper maps of where you are going read them before you start. if a corner look bad to you, if you can not see everything, do not turn.i drive a class A rig and pull a 48 foot trailer. i get looks from people at what i just did. but this after 40 years worth of driving, and yes backing up is the worst thing you can do. but i have back ed more miles then some over the rd drives do going forward. i have many years experience in it. and i still go slow. and as needed get out and look. only use a spotter you know and trust. get two way radios.

I am solo with three black labs. I just traded my small trailer for a 33 ft. travel trailer with one super slide. I thought I would boondock, but found that I love COE campgrounds. They have no limit on number of dogs, and I get half off with my Access Pass. So right now I am in Arkansas and its only $8 per night with electric and water and 14 day limit. It is the best kept secret in America. Never plan ANYTHING else on travel days, just getting point A to B, nothing else.

Good stuff. I went from a 40' motorhome to an Airstream because it made sense at this time in my life. Being solo, the MH was too big and too many systems although I loved it. I dream of full timing in a slightly larger Airstream. First, I need to get rid of "stuff". I went from boats to motorcycles to RV's.

Thanks for taking the time to make something like this. I had grown up Rv camping every weekend with my family and knew I would one day get my own and travel. Now in my mid twenties I was fortunate enough to have that opportunity. The journey took a lot longer than I had expected and many miles were driven to see different RVs. The advice of an Rv salesman will sell you on anything is so true. Had one salesman try to sell us a used travel trailer. It was raining outside and literally leaking inside. He said “that’s just condensation that had built-up”. It was actually this channel were I had really began to do my research and watch some how-to videos. Thanks again!

I appreciate all the info y'all put out. Your channel along with Phil and Stacy's were the first two I subscribed to and show my wife. We are both retired Navy and y'all struck a chord with us. Still a couple of years away from pulling the trigger, but it will be on us before we know it. Hopefully, we will see you out there someday.

So much of this advice is right on. We found all of that out when we left our sticks and bricks and moved onto our sailboat. We did find out that going big was a downfall. There were so many places we didn’t fit and in our case so many bridges we didn’t fit under that it caused more stress. The extra size also meant we had to pay more everywhere we went because in boats you pay by the length at every dock. We also found out that we didn’t like traveling by boat - it was far too slow, but we enjoyed the times we sat still and toured the areas we were in. So now we know we want to RV. We’ve set up a home base in Florida and are ready to start shopping. Lots of good advice. Can’t wait for the next episode.

Do use the mapping on the 450? I am debating on weather or not I want to pay the annual map fee on our new 450. I do like it on that screen. I was thinking we could use some RV travel on a phone app? Thoughts?

Almost never use it. We use apple maps when not towing and our garmin GPS when towing. changinglanesrv.com/gps

Thanks for the great advice! We are lucky to have amazing friends and family that have let us stay with them while the RV is being fixed. One day we will figure out where we want our home base!

I CZcamsd for months on months before we got our first camper. It was the right one for us at the time, but I was still tight on our payload. It lasted us 5 yrs and we just got our first couples fiver aft more months and months of CZcams and finally a trip to the Tampa show to walk through our options. We decided on an Alliance Avenue 32RLS and we love it. Y’all are a great channel to learn from and thanks for all of your knowledge.

Hi Chad and Terra I love your channel. I have used the RV Life GPS and it was terrible. You have to know ahead of time your directions. For example, the RV Life GPS will say go to I-75, you will need to know the direction North or South. This is not good when you are concentrating on the driving.

Yea.. we've found it seems to take a longer router than our Garmin most of the time.. That's why it's strictly a backup for us... 👍🏼

Dat-Way RV - Jerry (USMC Retired Vet, still work full time IT VOIP systems engineer) and Rebecca (Domicile Sgt. Major), 2 Boston Terriers Sammy and Dean, GD 380FL-R/F-450. We've been weekend warriors in several makes and models of Travel Trailers and 5th Wheels over the past 10 years. We finally weighed our options took the leap of faith and took our dreams to the road after taking a look at how to do remote work (from your channel) and what it would take as well as the travel direction we wanted to go. We've used yours and other channels to help decide on equipment, tools, needed items and left EVERYTHING else that didn't sell in 3 months of yard sales, donated to VA.
We too have a small storage space 5x10 with items we didn't want to get rid of, Purge 2 will come at the end of the year. As of now, we throw a dart at the map, stay for 30 days and visit as much in the area as we can at night but mostly on the weekend, throw the dart again, rinse and repeat. So far it's a GREAT way to see things, currently in Wyoming. Here we are 8 months later and we need a new dart and map. BUT, in all transparency, for us that 30 day stay (and sometimes 2 months out pre-rent costs can get pricy). We do have a few stipulations.
    1. We have to ensure that there's the simple things pretty close by (no further than 25 miles) and that we need to have (Gym, close by pet veterinarian in case something happens to Sammy and Dean and Cellular/ISP coverage)
    2. Try and stay as close to a budget as possible which really isn't that hard. As we found out on month 4, BE SURE to have some pretty decent savings, those little things popup that could cost a bundle. Dean had a double hernia that needed emergency surgery, Sammy ate some horse poop and came down with some intestinal stuff. You get the idea. So far, there went 7K unexpectedly.
    3. We also ensure that we try and stay close to the seasonal weather. Rebecca calls it good weather chasing strategy. We are prepared with minimal cash on hand, and bugout bags ready for last minute Oh CRAP weather where we can't move the RV. Grab-it and goooo.. Haven't used them yet, but that's a good thing.
Like a lot of folks, we've been following your channel for a while. You guys have invaluable information. We've been traveling full time in our new Grand Design since January 2022. What we DID learn most, we can live without ALL of the things that we accumulated over the past 25 years in our house. Yes, we had purge remorse. Some of the things that we "thought we would need" still hasn't been removed from our RV storage.
Lastly, the best advise that we have, DON'T OVERTHINK it so much that you become engrossed into the little things that you lose focus on the big picture. Once you commit, BE SURE that you want to go from a larger house, mundane day to day routine (you still have them but get refocused on other routine things) and be sure that you can live with the person you going to live with. That's simple to say but trust me, there will be times that you have different ideas than the other person. Learn to come to a mutual agreement and communicate on most everything.
    Be safe,
Dat-Way RV: Jerry and Rebecca / Sammy and Dean

Great info! Currently planning to “half-time” RV. Downsize to small home base and add hookups. 2 pads with full hookups.
You’re FINALLY making somewhat of a move in that direction. Can’t wait to see how you add your RV hookup to your new place.

What you like or love might not be what you need.
My dream kit is pretty much what you have guys, but in 2015 was very sick and ended up having a liver transplant and left me with issue with my right arm.
So we bought a 36 foot fifth wheel and a ram 2500 in 2019 but locking and unlocking the hitch was very difficult so we decided to change for a Motorhome.
And we love it cause we are travelling Canada and US anyway :-) yeah
