  • How to make a hand tied bridal bouquet from start to finish, featuring roses, calla and gypsophila
    Ingredients - white roses, small white calla lilies, white gypsophila, standard carnations, double sided tape, ribbon to finish and pins to secure.
    What can be simpler than a bridal handtie? Well, they look simple but it’s all about knowing how to make it. In this video we keep it simple - the carnations add volume and a base for the roses and calla, and the gypsophila creates a collar and contrast to finish. We show you how to tie it off, and how to finish it off with ribbons and pins. All you need is a bride! Enjoy!

    Great tip ever is when you tell people to have all the flowers prepared. So much easier when doing hand ties.

    i love your channel. can you suggest tips to combine tied bridal bouquet with dining table arrangement? Please...
    regards from colombia

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  Před 3 lety +1

      Annie T greetings to Columbia ! The two main ways to tie the two are using the same flowers and colours. Next is the style - so following the bouquet style will create a stronger tie - but they don’t have to match exactly. The bride could have compact style bouquets and the table designs can be more natural.
      You will get a feel from the bride as well as to her interest in this - most are quite open to your suggestion and style , so that also helps.
      I think if the first two are the same then you are good as a basic rule 😀🙋🏼‍♂️

  • @irarom278
    @irarom278 Před 3 lety +3

    Thank you very much for the class, I have a problem, some of my flowers break when I try to tie them, specially roses. What can I do to avoid it?

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello! If it’s the stem then it is probably cheaper roses with soft stems, though that may be a weakness due to them being produced outside their natural season. Also, you need the stems to lie beside each other very neatly - if the tying point is not consistent then stems will break when it is tied - so they really support each other when side by side in the angle.
      If it’s the heads then they might if had water into the centre - so drop petals, or if the whole head then again it is weak flowers, quality.
      My suggestion, - relax , go slow, be consistent in placing, be gentle. With practise it gets better and better 😀🙋🏼‍♂️

    I notice little things you doing that I remember I was taught. You may not realize it, but you are glancing sideways at the shape of the bouquet. Making sure that the flowers are all even in height, with not one being a bit too long. Then when you do the final check, you only have to adjust a few. I was taught that years ago in the shop. I wish gypsophila would came back into style it's so dainty and cute.

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  Před 2 lety +1

      I’m not quite sure what you mean, but just work methodically - you don’t need to cram them together , just let them sit side by side - and keep the spiral consistent and the neck all at the same level ( it’s easy to have a bit of a muddled neck - if stems higher and lower ) .
      For cutting, just cut straight across - you can bring the stems together when you tie!
      I hope that helps 🙂🌻🌼

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  Před 2 lety

      Thank you so much 😊 glad you have found us!
      It would be really hard to do that - we are based in Scotland so not au- fait with US pricing. Pricing is very open to so many elements it’s hard to give a cost for anywhere. The best advice is check out the local pricing, and cost it out with a method that gives you what you need to have, including Labour and profit.
      Hope that helps 🌼🙋🏼‍♂️

    Очень нежный букет получился.Очень жаль,что наши невесты гвоздики и каллы почти не используют.

      Галина Стефанович мы не склонны использовать гвоздики, но они являются хорошим дополнением для объема. хотя каллы хороши! 🙋🏼‍♂️😀

    What is the selling price

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  Před 4 lety

      Chocolaparis Azaiba that is really hard to give as there are so many factors. The time of year can affect flower prices, how you mark up flowers, how you price up the make up of designs, and how you want to position yourself - so value, or high end, and that depends on the area you are in and your customer base. I would suggest a bouquet like this would range from £90 - £120, but that’s a guide 😀🙋🏼‍♂️

    My question is how to keep a bridal bouquet fresh all day .

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  Před 26 dny

      Essentially it is out of water for the day - it’s only needed for the day, so the flowers need to be good quality, well conditioned ( have had a big drink ) kept in water if possible till delivery, stored in a cool place, misted and boxed so it’s protected and not dehydrating. Then that’s all you can do!

    I did stop today at a flower shop and it was quite sad no business like they have a few plants and a few yellow roses and that make me think 🤔 not every flower shop is successful and what is the key to have a successful flower shop can you tell me from your own experience?

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  Před 4 lety +1

      Skyblue3000 M people open shops because they love flowers, they love working with flowers, creating designs. What they don’t look into is selling flowers. So is there a market? There could be too many shops already, or the customer base isn’t affluent or value flowers in their purchases. People need to ask those questions - before they open. They need to ask can this give me and any staff a good living. If not then it’s going to a long painful lesson. So, who are the customers, how many are there, do they want you as a florist - why you and not another shop, and will they pay. That was a good question 🙋🏼‍♂️❤️
