    Australians are built different. I only fish from my kayak. I'm too scared to climb rocks lol

      I like to think I'm a all rounder fisherman , I kayak fish , land based off the beach boat whatever as long I'm out exploring I'm happy

    What size jig do you use? Weight and hook size… Never caught anything on soft plastic…. Wanna try here in Perth.

    • @patrickkbell
      @patrickkbell  Před 2 lety +1

      Just anything small just think of the fishes mouth , I mainly use 3/8 , 1/8 for weight and 2/0 hooks , basically try to imitate and what the fish would eat

      @kalunvinka Před 2 lety

      @@patrickkbell thanks bro! But isn't 2/0 too big for herring(tommys)?

    • @patrickkbell
      @patrickkbell  Před 2 lety +2

      Maybe not that big , but again just think of the size fishes mouth , and study the waters where you fish as that can indicate what the fish may eat , keep persisting once you start catching fish you'll have a knowledge of what works best .

  • @fishmut
    @fishmut Před 2 lety +2

    Dude never ever leave your spool locked on and leave your rod like that , that’s a good way to say goodbye to your outfit if that fish decided to flip and go down the rocks , your rod would never be seen again , always open your spool for safe measure if your going to walk away from it even for a moment. I have seen Guys lose there rods from fish even in boats leaving there spools locked on and doing something else .

    • @patrickkbell
      @patrickkbell  Před 2 lety

      I purely locked it to save my line , it was clearly a ray so essentially I wanted it to snap but it didn't , if there's something massive on the end there's no ovoiding stress on the rod

    hey mate u got any tips for catching tailor and kingfish landbase?

    • @patrickkbell
      @patrickkbell  Před rokem

      I'd be targeting tailor from the beach where theres a little bit of waves and gutters close to shore and use can use lures for them or rig up some whole mulies on gangs , use google earth to scan the coastline you should be able to spot areas with gutters close to shore , and as for kingfish I've never caught one but I would put out a live herring under a balloon , or you could cast stickbaits , you would need a solid setup though with heavy line and you would need deep water off the rocks which can be dangerous so be sure to check the swell always go with a mate wear a lifevest etc
