Woah! Thats very cool James!
Love your content guys 😊😊😊❤❤❤
I'm gonna go check out the store
Thxs James and the crew for all the amazing content you guys make❤❤
Is this going to be available to rewatch later? Can’t watch live…
The James B. Janisse, Jr. tribute was the one that hurt the most. 😭😭😭
What part of the vid was that?
@@alecjlewis159:18
That made me tear up. I'm so sorry, James 😢.
@alecjlewis1 the last one in the part of the people we lost last year.
yeah also seen Bray Wyatt
It is CRIMINAL how under appreciated horror movies are in the mainstream awards
It's ironic that we're getting The Silence Of The Lambs kill count next week, it being the only horror movie to ever break through at the Oscar's
Its more of a thriller than a horror film. I never understood why people consider that film horror.@arthursanford3706
@RA-hx9uc There's a lot of horror adjacent films that people call horror. For example, I don't think Jaws is a horror movie but a lot of people do.
@arthursanford3706 I agree with that. It is just a point I make that films that live solely in the horror genre, or at least that's majorly how they are classified are completely ignored for awards. Kathy Bates, for example, is said to have won and Oscar for a horror performance. How? That was a suspense, a thriller, a drama. But horror? Misery? I don't get it. Just because it's based on Stephen King's novel doesn't make it a horror film. Sophie Wilde's performance this past year in Talk to Me was leaps and bounds better than Annette Bening in Nyad or Lily Gladstone in Killers for example, but she has not been recognized by industry folks. I mean, I get it that it's mainly a popularity contest and mostly based on campaigns rather than the films themselves or the performances (mostly, not all). But, come on. Horror often requires so much more of its actors and crafters than something like Maestro, for example which is a snoozefest with overacting all over the place. But Mr.Cooper is lived by the industry and campaigns hard (pathetically so) while someone like Ms. Wilde is ignored. It's truly amazing how it all works. Then you get old timers in the industry bitching about streaming and super hero movies and the lack of art. Yet, they are the same exact people voting for their friends for the awards rather than. Respecting art, which shows up more impressively in horror sometimes than your usual Oscar bait B.S. But Hollywood is full of hypocrites, we know this.
Toni Collette not even receiving an Oscar nomination for Hereditary was truly the biggest snub of all time
James ending the "In Memoriam" with his father got me. Tears my friends. Rest in peace to who I'm certain was a great man.
Someone during live chat Said that the fans should vote. For that to happen it would at the very least require the fans to watch all the movies - professionally without their phones - before making up their mind Based on popularity, established franchises, US etnicentrism, etc.
Yeah, I doubt most of the fans have watched Huesera or When Evil Lurks
Isn’t that what the fans choice award is for.
True but they should just stick to what they used to do the jury just sucks I’m half convinced they didn’t watch every movie
@theclarkmaster3642 the peoples choice awards (or any fan awards) are worthless because everyone who votes absolutely has not seen most of the films nominated and truly is just the popular films that made money that get attention
@@Youraveragesalteen James said in several streams that it was very important to them that all of the panelists watch every nominated movie, which is why they limit themselves to 6 nominees per category and don't do 10 for best movie like the Oscars. Since everyone in the jury works in the horror space, I'd say it's pretty likely they already watched 80-90% of the movies before they were even asked to be on the panel.
having two separate awards for best original movie and best remake/sequel is so smart. Really showing respects to both mainstream and indie movie makers
James really rocking the Freddy Fazbear fit
Fr 😂
I wonder if that was intentional 😮
I just noticed that. Good eye!

42:35 - Hey Jack - my vote is resoundingly for "light green." I hope this helps you make the right choice.
I agree light green looked better !
Light green for sure, dark green just feels off
The lighter green Jack 👌🏻
The light green is the way to go!
Light green for sure
This is amazing! thanks so much for this prizes and all the love of the audience!! !!!!💀💀💀💀💀this is INCREDIBLE!
Oh my god what an honor to read this comment! We'll be contacting you soon to send you the trophies!! Thanks so much for tuning in 😊😊
The fact that this comment only has 3 likes is a travesty.
“There are certain decisions that are *bad* decisions.”
“WE SHOULD SPLIT UP.”
Incredibly bad decision there
They knew what they were doing with that part 🤣
Just FYI, it's D-neg (it's full name is Double Negative) I actually worked on the aliens in No One Will Save You, so thanks so much for giving it a shout out!
thats so cool!
I worked their too in Layout on Dune, Men in Black, Venom 2 and some others!
No lie, at exactly 41:28 I got an ad, so what I hear on my end is "The Prime Rib for Best Horror Villain goes to- California's housing crisis". I mean, it's not wrong....
When I pressed it I got a ad
Finally had time to watch this, amazing work guys! So many films I loved were included and so many films I need to watch still. :)
Yeah i had to find some time to watch this as well lol
RIP to all of those we lost this year 😢😢
@@midnighttown24I think they meant those who passed away brotha
@@yaboiitito Exactly. Sad to see so many people, especially Carl Weathers and James’ father. 😢
I can tell James was holding back tears when they paid tribute to his father. 😢 I know your dad is proud of you James
58:22 thanks for putting something for Bray that loss hit me hard
RIP follow the firefly’s forever
"......is an American film....". I actually love that this isn't take for granted. I love the general international perspective of these awards. Yes.... the films are from all over.
James, thank you for sharing a picture of your father. Thank you, Chelsea, for speaking first after In Memorium, as, whether purposeful or not, it gave James a moment.
You do know they do multiple takes right? it literally could have take 10 or more takes for both the speeches before and after.
I started crying because you gave Bray Wyatt a memorial tribute. Good shit Dead Meat. Good shit. I love that the WWE and AEW are represented alongside horror
Edit: Holy Shit I found more of them. Thanks for making me famous

Quickly popping in to give a big, fat "AGREE!" to this 🖤
No wayyyyyyyy:)
I got so emotional when he popped up, the biggest horror fan in all of wrestling, Bray Wyatt, too young, too soon to have left us.
i cant wait for the day they make the Dead Meat Awards a live in-person event open to fans to purchase tickets to be a part of the audience in a theater and there's a red carpet and shit. I know it would require SO MUCH more effort and people, but I have confidence that Dead Meat crew can make it truly successful (edit: it'd be awesome if they make the red carpet look all bloody xD)
That gives "Red Carpet" a whole new meaning!!! Great idea!
Seeing Windham Rotunda on the In Memorium montage was unexpected and greatly appreciated. He loved horror like so many of us do and did everything he could to bring the genre to a new audience.
The real question is did light green or dark green win?
I vote light green!
I am personally conflicted as the dark green gives a cozy vibe to the room. But the other is very fun and inviting. If an accent wall is the option I feel light green would work great but dark green also give an intriguing argument to the table.
@@slothsarecool987 In just comparing the two colors, I actually prefer the dark green, I just felt that the lighter green fit what we saw of the room better.
They are both good colors, so I think either will work fine!
Dark green won the live poll, about 55% to 45%
I personally think light green works better
YOU GOT ROBERT EGGERS. I hope you guys realize how important you are to the horror genre. You give it such love and prestige. I love the podcast and the channel. ❤❤❤
the Windham Rotunda tribute hit me hard. for those who don't know, Windham Rotunda, better know by his kayfabe name, Bray Wyatt, was a WWE wrestler who incorporated a lot of horror into his performances, both in the ring, and on the microphone. he was an amazing actor and wrestler. he terrified a lot of us as kids, and he awed us as we grew up. from the eater of worlds to the fiend, his characterwork was some of the best ever in the industry. I, and many others, will forever miss him.
❤🕊️🙏
knowing that the land monsters in meg 2 were played by dudes in blue suits holding giant blueberry sticks makes me really happy
Who else thinks the Dead Meat awards will become "the fourth largest awards show in Hollywood" before the 420 Awards?
i would give it 1 more year before it gets the recognition it deserves
deep cut love it!
I hope so
Yeah! The 420 awards are mostly watched and liked by people ironically, but the Dead Meat Awards is genuinely good!
I just absolutely adore the role Dead Meat has made for itself in the horror genre as a whole. Seeing the channel's growth since 2019 has been nothing short of amazing.
I can't believe we lost Andre so soon. How heartbreaking. I'll never be over Michael Gambon, what a gentleman. Even Carl Weathers...
Bless your incredible dad, James.
I actually cheered out loud when Alyssa Sutherland won best supporting actress because I fucking loved her performance and was furious the Oscar’s didn’t even acknowledge it
She did amazing
With all due respect, Melissa Barrera's performance in VI deserves a huge praise!!! She carried the entire film, can't convince me otherwise...
yeah, she carried that whole film
There isn't a single award show around that celebrates every single person on the genre, and Dead Meat, doing it every year, is a breath of fresh air.
Horror is such a sweet community of total creeps and they're fantastic
When Evil Lurks gets extra respect because they pulled off such horrific scenes without terrifying the kids (and even making it fun for them, from what I hear) Good shit
Any horror where the actors/crew go out of their way to comfort and support the kiddos will always be heavily respected by me, even if I don’t enjoy the movie itself
Something that I absolutely love about this awards show is the detailed presentation that each nominee gets before the winner is announced. It’s so insightful and fascinating to see behind the scenes of these films as well as hear about the talented crews that worked on each aspect of the film!
RIP to James B Janisse Jr ❤️❤️❤️❤️ 🕊️
I LOVE that this exists; the Dead Meat Horror Awards is one of the only true award ceremonies in which nominations and wins truly feel based on merit.
I am DEEPLY saddened by the always bittersweet In Memorium section. But I am so thankful and joyous that those we lost spent their time connecting with us in such meaningful ways, whether it be through their work in the horror canon, or by gifting us the beautiful soul that is James A. Janisse ❤

I love this. Everyone I talk to that’s not a huge horror movie fan are always surprised when I tell them how wholesome horror movie fans tend to be especially in this particular community. I feel like the Dead Meat Horror Awards is a culmination of that wholesome since its express purpose is giving flowers to the commonly overlooked talents. I love it and I wish continued success to both the dead meat crew and the folks involved in making the movies and this show!

As much as I love the Dead Meat Awards and the focus towards the unappreciated genre of cinema, my favourite part of this might have been the inclusion of James' dad in the Memoriam. It was an untouched but beautiful touch that reflected to me not only the love the Dead Meat family had for him, but also subtly reinforcing his impact in the genre for inspiring his son to bring his love of horror to the masses. Legitimately made me tear up slightly.
Wasn’t expecting the Bray tribute. Man it still hurts. Thanks for including all the legends in the in Memoriam.
I appreciate the CG nomination for Last Voyage of the Demeter. Even though the winner deserved the Award 100%, what they achieved with the Demeter is really impressive
Surprisingly not enough support for the last voyage of the demeter
I’m not exaggerating when I say that the Horror Awards are what I look forward to most on youtube all year. What you have here is very special and all the people involved are absolute gems. Thank you so much for giving accessible and informative content on the horror genre as a whole.
I'm so glad When evil lurks is getting so much praise! As an Argentinian, I'm elated to see our movies (that are not about the dictatorship) be recognized
OTRA CORONACIÓN DE GLORIA🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
It's my horror movie of the year
@@markgrayson7428 Mine too. That first and second Talk To Me
It's the one film that has shocked me in quite a while. Loved it
MI PAIS MI PAIS!!!! Una emoción verla ganar tanto 😭😭😭🥲🥲🥲🥲
Wasn't expecting Bray Wyatt or James' father in the In Memoriam, that got me good. You guys and everyone that helped did a great job with these awards.
Happy renfield won best stunts, for a movie needlessly hated, I absolutely adored that film
I just finished watching it with my best friend and it was such an incredibly fun ride.
I didn't know that Andre Braugher died. That actually hits me hard. Rest in peace Captain Holt.
I did not expect the in memoriam to get me balling like it did. James I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my grandfather (who was like my father) this past year and that whole section really got me. 😩
Holy crap, I'm 3 minutes in and have already seen Howie Mandel AND Robert Eggers?! This channel gets better every year; it's amazing to me that this wild journey all began with short & sweet Kill Counts of Friday the 13th...kudos to all at Dead Meat! I'm happy to be along for the ride!
Takashi Yamazaki should have been at least nominated for best director for making the first Godzilla movie since 1954 to genuinely make everyone cry
WHEN EVIL LURKS BEST PRACTICAL EFFECTS LETS GOOOOO I was pulling for them to win
58:21 I fell off this channel a while back but saw on a wrestling fan page you mentioned bray. Just wanted to say that was a true class act and thank you. Been very difficult to stay in the flow of wrestling knowing one of your favorites is no longer around. Small things like this will keep the spirit around forever. Much respect.
That award for best kill for when evil lurks is so well deserved. My jaw dropped during that scene.
Lauren Lavera cameo was flawless great show! Influencer was a great film underrated or promoted glad to see it got some nominations.
Godzilla Minus One deserves a lot of recognition, popularity etc
The fact that you guys mentioned Kenpachiro Satsuma means alot to me. He was MY Godzilla and I am so grateful that I got to meet him in 2018. I cried alot when I found out he passed away but I'm grateful that we got to experience him.
When they were introducing the In Memorium segment, I said out loud "I wonder if they include Kenpachiro Satsuma, probably not." Him being the first face we see started the waterworks for me, and it only got worse from there.
Let's go, When Evil Lurks! That scene with the woman walking down the road with a snack changed who I am as a person! 🎉
I had to rewind and pause. Then I realised I hadn't moved for a minute myself. Just stared at the screen. My favourite horror of the year
Really appreciate everyone at Dead Meat doing this, and everyone who participated introducing the nominations. I caught the awards last year, this year, and will look forward to the next.
they way i "aww"ed at the information about the dog in evil lurks
The fact that this video only has 250k views is frustratingly criminal! This is peak entertainment and deserves all the praise in the world!
Absolutely lost it at the length of that straw. 1:07:54
MY GOD! The production value this year!!! Each year has gotten better and better. I genuinely didn't think it could get much better than last year but boy was I wrong! WOW!!! Y'all absolutely crushed it!
Dark green for man cave, light green for office
Would be so cool to see this as a live award show with an audience one day
As a CG/VFX artist, I appreciate the reverence shown for Digital Effects! I love all movie magic. And it's really about knowing how to use the tools and understanding how to navigate and plan toward their strengths.
The Zoren bit "Im not touching that" was hilarious. 😂
Finally got to watch this. Absolutely loved the tribute to the ones we lost this last year.
My condolences to James, Chelsea, and your family.
God that Bray tribute hit my chest like a dagger. Still doesn't feel real that he's gone.
This award show just gets better each year. The In Memoriam is always a special part as no other award is given such a heartfelt moment...
Yall made me cry when I saw Windham, I miss him so much it still hasn't set in, it doesn't feel real. RIP Bray.
I just found out that Howie Mandel voiced Gizmo from Gremlins and I'm having an existential crises moment.
Lauren Lavera did a really good and unique job with her segment. Love her energy✌🏼
58:22 and just like that I'm crying. I miss Bray so much R.I.P 🙏🏾
That in memoriam had me crying once it got to Bray Wyatt. Still doesn’t feel real to me that he’s gone.
Thank you sooo much for the Bray Wyatt tribute. He would be honored, truly. He was and still is my absolute f***ing hero. I miss him so much!
Wow, Howie Mandel doing the intro. What a get! And wow, my heart skipped a beat when I saw Chelsea Rebecca in that dress. Wowza. What a beautiful woman. James is no slouch either. I'm not gay, but James makes me question myself sometimes.
as someone who also lost a dad, i sobbed when james’ dad showed up in the in memoriam
I thought I was holding it together pretty well until Windham Rotunda’s name showed up. I immediately cried. So glad he’s recognized in the frame of the Horror genre
Fuck man when Bray popped up in the in memoriam it killed me I really miss that man
So glad to see Lauren Lavera from Terrifier 2 make an appearance here :) also so so happy Alyssa became the winner she deserves it
Special Effects was a gimme for Godzilla, but I was still hoping for a surprise win from No One Will Save You. The SFX in that film were insane
James and Chelsea, you both became just a CZcamsr couple and turned yourselves into actual horror icons yourselves. Not just with these awards, which mean so much to us, but with the work you do every day. Keep up the amazing work, and we'll be with you every step of the way.
Rip Bray he was my favorite wrestler
Could we get a separate upload of the montage with titles attached to the clips?
saw x not even one…..
ROBBED
thanks for putting Godzilla in the dead meat horror awards and RIP to Kenpachirô Satsuma. He was in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla, which is the first Godzilla movie I saw as a kid
Bray Wyatts tribute hit hard. I'm still not over him being gone. It still hurts. RIP Windham we miss you so much. You truly are forever 😢
58:20 ❤
so sorry for your loss james 🤍
Chelsea is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS ❤❤
I'm so glad this award show is still going strong!
Side note: The loss of Bray Wyatt still hurts to this day.
"I am the color red, in a world of black and white."
Never met him once but I miss that man like a brother.
It warmed my heart SO MUCH to see you mention Bray. ❤️ I miss him so much.
58:32 from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for putting windham in the in memorial.
He played a special role in helping me understand and fight my demons and his influence in horror is something I’ve always loved and respected.
Also I’m wholeheartedly loving every second of this. Thank you so much to James, Chelsea, and the whole Dead Meat team!!❤❤
And then Mr.Janisse came on the screen and I’m a mess. Sending all of my love to you two. He looked like an amazing man and he deserves to be among these names for the support he brought you and without that I think we wouldn’t have these moments.
All the love 🙏❤️
Dear Dead Meat puppets, you have given an old horror fan-man's life meaning again. But seriously, I really love your channel. You guys have it down. The recap, with a little film criticism, the kills, some history behind the film and horror in general, and your humor. I mean it's perfect and the awards show was icing on the bloody cake. It's what brought me to Kill Counts in the first place. Thankfully I haven't watched all the videos yet but I'm seeing 3 to 4 a day.
Separately, I'm watching "Them: The Scare" and it has me asking, in the future, do y'all plan on doing any more series' or more international movies like when you did "Susperia?" I watch a shit ton of foreign fare and would be cool to hear what you think of some of them. I listened to the podcast on "When Evil Lurks" and enjoyed it. Thanks for being you.
that Bray Wyatt In Memorium literally gave me chills.. i was not prepare for that... you're crying im not crying! RIP Windham, Follow The Buzzards.
Thank you for including Bray Wyatt in the In Memoriam segment. It sucks that we'll never get to see all that he could do.
Saw X deserved more love and fnaf
Thank you for including Windham, James.
The fact that you added Bray Wyatt to the In Memoriam - that just bought it all back for me, and I started balling my eyes out.
