  • Mostly original 1968 Buick skylark, 455 motor with upgraded valve train components, and a stall converter. What a thrill!

First car I owned was this. I was a dumb kid in 1975, and it was probably too much car for me (although, since my parents gave it to me, I didn’t think so). No wrecks, but that was due mostly to angels working overtime! I took it off the ground several times on back - gravel! - roads and even slid it neatly into a space between two other cars with just inches between both sides - THAT was an accident, showing off for a hot chick. (We’re married now, BTW) wish I’d appreciated it more, but I couldn’t wait to trade it off for a 1976 Roadrunner. That was fun, too.

My dad was a Buick dealer from 1958-1968, and I started driving in 1964, so I got to drive quite a few new Buicks, obviously. But I don't remember any of them that ran quite like this one....it's a monster! But those Big block Buicks always had that torque.

Impressively quick......just a damn shame it was impossible to decipher ANY of the conversation! All the tape provided was noise & a little high rpm!

I have a fesh 73 455 in a 69 gs400. What parts make your car like that for less than $4k? my engine seems anemic.

4k is a pretty good start in making a 455 have as much power as his. Buick engines are beasts but they take a lot of money. I've got about 2500 in my original 350 and it'll have only 400 or so HP

I put a 70 455 in my 68 rebuilt the engine mild cam headers 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust main studs full groove mains high volume oil pump (extended gears/with space plate 3 key timing chain 4*advance very fast 70 was the best year for 455 miss that car

If you're running the 73 heads those are big chamber heads for low compression or find some 70 stage 1 heads port and polish them and Port match them if you have enough money buy some ta performance stage 2 heads they're about $2,000 they'll wait that motor up you can call TA performance and I'm sure they can tell you a recipe how you can make a car run like that easily
