Zamazenta is paying for Zacian's crimes
Strangely enough, I see a lot of Zamazentas not even running protect. It might just be a testament to Zama’s sheer bulk and access to wide guard.
Yep. I run Tera-Fighting too to swap out my weaknesses while increasing my damage on top of that. It's a pokemon that opponents just need to "deal with" and is disruptive just by existing. It's really the fact it can also be a win condition that justifies the restricted slot. Behemoth bash to hit fairy and ghost types is so nice too.
Zamazenta has been the strongest single resticted for me outside of Caly Shadow in my testing so far. It is so dang good now with body press. And this is coming from a guy who never touched him once in SwSh lol
Remember when everyone complained about his nerf? I see almost no one complaining anymore. 👀
@@Altered999they nerfed his ability but then gave him Body Press which more than offset it lol

One thing that makes protect-less zama more viable is the fact that wide guard has the same priority as fake out, and you’re also faster than pretty much all fake out mons save maybe max speed mienshao depending on the your zama spread
Keep in mind I’m a pretty bad player. I wouldn’t presume I have a ton of skill or good enough to take a win at a regional.
I’m currently steamrolling with a Zam, Ting Lu base team. I’d be willing to argue that Zam is near calyrex level of power right now.
Zamazenta is the most surprising restricted for me. It is so good
Agreed. I run a protectless Tera-Fighting Zamazenta with speed investment and it bullies everything. I have had my most success with Tera-Normal Sinistcha and Focus Sash single strike Urshifu since that hard solves the calyrex match up.

I’ve been trying WG on Zenta and honestly I think the move sucks in general. It’s too easily played around. It works once in a battle and that’s it.
I’ll have to try protect. I’ve been doing wide guard and experiencing a high amount of success with it. Granted I don’t use it very often, but it’s really impactful when I do.

Question though for you. Is it ever worthwhile to speed creep ogerpon hearthflame? As an overall, how do you decide what you need to speed creep?
Personally i put quite a bit of speed and speedcreep neutral nature max speed pokemon with base 135 speed, bc that outspeeds modest flutter, adamant chien pao, adamant koraidon and modest miraidon which are all really valuable to outspeed
Obviously comes down to how you want to run it. I built mine to outspeed adamant max speed ogerpon with enough bulk to be fine against a max speed jolly nature oger
For me it’s usually team dependant, but a general approach I like to take is to pick a speed tier, a couple defensive calcs, and a couple offensive calcs, that you want to hit. See if you can hit all of them, if not then something has to go, and modify from there based on what you think the team needs the most

Zamazenta is incredible. But i agree with the wide guard comment. I run body press, behemoth bash, iron defense and protect (and this is the most common set i have seen on top zamazenta builds)
