There is no allegiance. Hearts and Rangers are proper rivals on the pitch, but they are Scottish clubs who are proud of their British heritage. Celtic and Hibs were founded by the Irish and their allegiance is therefore obvious. They are Irish clubs who just happen to be located in Scotland.
I agree with the analysis. But Hibs and Celtic are Scottish just as much as Rangers and Hearts are Scottish, Where as you say, Hearts and Rangers being more proud of their self proclaimed British identity, where as Celtic and Hibs have the more nationalist approach, being pro Scottish Nationalists and proud of their Irish Heritage with leads them therefore also to support Irish Nationalism, and in some cases Irish Republicanism. Celtic far more so than Hibs, if you tried singing boys of the Old Brigade at Hibs you’d get a strange sort of mixed response I’d imagine, Hibs have often booed Celtic when they sing Ra songs. Where as Nearly all of Celtic park would join in with you if you tried to sing it at Celtic. All 4 clubs are entitled to their identities, songs and opinions and freedom of Speech, a right that is currently not recognised in Britain today, and everywhere in the world except for the USA, The Americans only have freedom of speech rights gaurenteed to their society, no where else has it unfortunately and it should be everywhere an it isn’t.
@@st_magnetar4171 I can maybe see your point regarding Hearts and Hibs but sorry I can't agree regarding Celtic. The only part of Celtic that is Scottish is that they play in Scotland. My guess and it is an estimated/calculated guess based on my friends who follow Celtic is that if the ROI played against Scotland in a World Cup qualifier "ALMOST" all of them would be hoping for a ROI win. If Scotland was playing v England is a similar match, most Rangers friends of mine, but not all, would be hoping for a Scotland win. That is a difference imo. ps. I'm talking as someone brought up in Glasgow in a mixed area of both Protestants and Catholics.
It doesn’t matter if you were brought up in Glasgow, how you feel doesn’t change FACTS, Celtic are a Scottish football club, your experiences and how you personally feel yourself make no difference to it, I’m from Dublin and I’ve been a full time Celtic fan since I was born I’ve lost count how many times I’ve been to Glasgow to see Celtic. I probably know Glasgow better than I know Dublin. Celtic are Scottish.
@@st_magnetar4171 I doesn't make any difference how long you have supported Celtic or how many times you have been to Glasgow, your opinions make no difference.😉Celtic are "OFFICIALLY" a Scottish club, I've never disputed that. BUT that's where it ends. Celtic were founded by the Irish who had come over from Ireland initially from the famine, but then more and more came over.
