The secret to looking classy and elegant is simple. Stay away from trends😘
Agreed 💯
❤
Tru
Okay grandma
Knowing what not to invest in is a main reason why I watch these!
I appreciate your disclaimer that just because a trend is not “classy” doesn’t mean it’s trashy. And that you like some of the less “classy” looks! I think some other fashion CZcamsrs really look down upon and shame other people’s fashion styles. Fashion doesn’t have to be about looking polished or rich to other people. It’s about what makes you feel happy and confident!
Love this. Always happy to work out as I get to watch you :) only thing I did NOT agree with you in are metallics. I wear my gold lame slip skirt from JCREW anywhere, anytime. But my bright super shiny silver faux leather jeans from Gap, well I always have to “turn them down” with lots of dark and a longer shirt, but I still adore them. I bet you just haven’t found your metallic significant other !
I agree with all of it except the metallics. Please, not during the day. It just looks so plastic.
Elevated basics 100% for women in my age bracket (I’m 64). Trendy, even if it’s pretty, just doesn’t hit the same once you’re over 60.
At this age basics should have more lively and less neutral, earthy color palette. That's it. Plus flowar prints should get smaller, more delicate. But designs can still be classical basics if some likes it. Plus good rule of thumb would be - after 60 navy blue or emerald green shall become your black. Otherwise black will underline all imperfections of your complection and silhouette.
In my 50’s and I love both loud colors and tone down colors. Red , green and pink are my favorite however I love my white and light blue collar shirt, I am a blazer typ of a lady - I love a blue /black blazer 😍😍😍😍😍😍🤴🏼
@@agatastaniak7459I will never love navy. Black will always rule!
My issue is the weight I've gained that I feel makes me look awful. Wear a tucked in shirt? No way. I used to be a size small and now I am a 1X or so and feel I look ugly in everything.
Metallic accessories with natural fibres and colours look fabulous
Love metallic accessories! ❤️
Loud logos are never classy but denim on denim is beautiful
Denim on Denim team +1! lol I love it too ❤️❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29 yes! Anna my son is graduating in May… do you have any suggestions for what to wear 😅
Yes. Denim shirt with same color jeans with nude/neutral loafers or ballet flats=tres chic!
Denim on Denim is uggliest look for me.
My style has always been Quiet Luxury. Several years ago, I started re-using the old term Dressing Quietly, to me that is the essence of good taste. I also prioritize comfort really highly, which is why I hate synthetics (the rayon-family fibers like Tencel are good, they breathe, unlike the plastics). I do love some trends to keep my wardrobe updated, but choose them carefully, they have to fit in with my simple classic style and my color palette. I never liked logos and I can’t afford designer items anyway, but I prioritize quality, especially in fabrics/materials, over any other criterion. I shop in my the upper High Street range for these items, at brands like: Theory, Lily Silk, Equipment, Banana Republic, MM La Fleur, etc. Long ago I purged the all-synthetic items from my wardrobe, and recently I purged almost every item that has a blend of synthetics and other fibers (some are “holding” on a rail until I can find similar items in better fabrics, or I’m sure I won’t regret donating them). It’s hard to go wrong with classic styles in premium fabrics/materials like leather, and in one’s best colors, I think that is a great starting outline for building a better wardrobe. I spend more per item, so have to buy fewer, but everything I buy is a timeless, quality “forever” item. I still wear clothes and accessories from 40 years ago, it’s hard to find that quality nowadays. Note: I just don’t understand the enduring popularity of short denim cutoffs/Daisy Dukes, in this country. They always look trashy and only we Americans wear them, but then, we’re not known for elegant style in this country. The first thing I would do if someone wanted to elevate their style is purge these awful shorts.
Love this! I think as we all deep dive into our own style we often end up at the same place as you have. The more you pay attention to it, the more you want quality over quantity and timeless rather than fads ❤️ However, I will say that denim shorts are my go to for when I think my bottoms might get dirty I.e. doing anything with my toddler in the spring and summer! 😀
Here we have something in common. However I have always liked bold colors but without patterns. Simply plain yet bold colors. Porbably has to do with my skin shade since natural medium olive skin does not look best in too pale or too earthy colors. But aside from this my taste has a lot in common with your taste. And for a good reason. My grannies as nobile class women instilled in me old ways of going about it specific for their own social class, so no wonder. Fast fashion and synthetics or any tendency to mindlessly follow latest short-lived trends was always looked down own by senior female members of my family and a big no-no for which me and my cousins were always told off by all grannies, aunts and even own mothers. What is more we were also taught that good quality clothes can last for long enough to be passed on between generations, even between genders.
That was fun to watch. It always makes me laugh to see the long denim skirts in fashion. I live in an area with a lot of Mennonite families. When the women are in town, often they wear long denim skirts, and they don't look very fashion forward. Also wanted to say, I really love the neckline of the blouse on you. The split- and v-necked line is really flattering and shows off your pretty skin.
I’m so glad someone has mentioned this. This is common where I live as well,so I won’t be rocking a midi or maxi denim skirt. I will wear knee length ones though.
I never knew long denim skirts were a thing in the Mennonite community, I thought they were a brand new trend never seen before lol
Lol I know exactly what you’re talking about! I wonder if they would think you’re their long lost cousin 😄
@@luluandmeowI am surrounded by Mennonites, and full out communities where I live, I and have never seen long denim skirts, but simply Little House on the Prairie dresses. Long denim skirts look amazing, if you know how to style them with the right pieces.
I love a trend but I always thought those micro mini bags were sooo ridiculous!! Same with the massive ones, but at least you can put stuff IN those☺️
The mini bags look like a 5 yr olds “play dress up purse” to me
I have not stopped wearing denim on denim since the 2000s. Love denim button ups with high rise wide leg jeans and pearls and gold for jewelry. I always get compliments when I wear them.
I just want to say how much I enjoy your videos. After having 3 kids in 3 years in my 30s, and going from a size 4 to an 8, I wasn’t sure how to dress anymore. I was stuck in skinny jeans or leggings and tight tees or loose sweaters… I was dressing like a teen from the early 2000s lol. Now I’m trying out wide leg jeans, trousers, button downs, blazers…. And some classic accessories with my outfits. I feel so much better about myself and feel like I’ve found my style. I don’t need to dress like a 20 year old anymore but I’m not a dowdy old woman either lol. And I’m following your advice of getting dressed in something that makes me feel good every day.
Same! Minus the 3 kids! Thank you for helping me feel put together and confident at a size that I have NEVER felt confident at.🥰 Also, I personally agree with all the classy woman trends.
@@jocelynrose3071 Why are you thanking Megan Lim for helping you instead of the channel creator? Did you intend to do that?
❤
Once I read multiple comments by people beside themselves for reaching a size 8, I decided to skip the comments.
Dresses exist in female wardrobe for a reason. Women, not males get pregnant and their body chnages during and after pregnancy and this is what dresses got invented for. So try to learn what type of dresses look best on your current body shape and experiment with them. Instead od leggins I do recommend jeggins and natural fabric leggins- made of linien or lyocell or even silk. Try loose, wide legged trousers mixed with more tight fitting body.
Love this review! IMO, you look classy when you dress appropriately for the event.
I agree with you and you do such an amazing job! You are so kind and provide such an authentic way with your videos. I love how you speak to the item and outfit, not a designer pair of jeans at $400 that are the only jeans that can make the outfit. Other CZcamsrs focus on the designer pieces and it is not realistic for a lot of us. Thank you, Anna! Congratulations as you are almost to 100,000 subscribers. 🥳🎉
Wow! Those wide leg striped trousers you’re wearing are phenomenal!
Navy is a great color on you Anna. I always luv your videos. 😊 I find that my style is constantly evolving but I am getting better at finding what suits me.
Thank you! Love this comment I feel like you have a good handle on your style! ❤️
Agree! Navy is a great color for you.
Rosette! The 3-D appliqué is a rosette.
I love that you use people of all races and sizes :)
Your videos are always fun, Anna! I ignored the logo trend, because I don't like wearing someone else's name on my person. For this reason, I invested in some Bottega Veneta bags - long before they became trendy, and while they were relatively affordable. I even have a clutch in metallic green, with an appliqued scarab in leather! Never a logo in sight
No way!!! That sounds amazing. Never get rid of that! ❤️❤️
another Great Video, I'v always styled quiet luxury, I'm 62 & just stick with classy/basic looks, I don't like spending a lot of $$ on something that shows someone elses name/initials on it, but do like my coach bags, lol, as usual, I love all of the outfits Ann is wearing!
Money talks but Wealth whispers
Love that quote! ❤️
I think the best way to summarize this “lesson” is to not EXAGGERATE the key detail you’re trying to showcase. “Moderation in all things” is a good rule of thumb for all aspects of life actually.😁
That is a great point! ❤️❤️
Your hair looks great! Thanks for all the examples of outfits that are elegant ✅...or not ❌. I’ll probably skip the heavy denim maxi trend. A softer/flowy maxi skirt might be more flattering on me.
I agree with all your choices but one. I have a sequined boxy t-shirt in a blush color that I love to wear with shorts, skirts or jeans. It is almost a basic in my opinion because of its simplicity and color. I love the first dress you showed in the disco trend.
You are so charming and fun to watch, but more importantly you are teaching us just how to be aware and daring with our wardrobes. Thanks for such a fun video.
😂😂 nearly spit my water out when you said cargo pants , like you are going camping and have everything in your pockets 😂😂 you are hilarious I swear!
LOL glad you liked that! 🤣🤣
Oooh your hair is gorgeous really softens your face 😍
Love both “ quiet” and “loud” luxury. Both have their place in fashion 😊
True! ❤️❤️❤️
Really depends on who you seek to draw attention from.
@@shelbysittig1047 nah just dress for yourself and what you feel good in. That’s ALL that matters
I like the flowers on shoes - as a pin in hair etc.
Disco print in a lightweight maxi dress w a straw hat is very classy.
Yep, agree with all of these. I personally won't be wearing a denim maxi (am way too short to carry it off) and no one is ever going to see my bra or knickers through any flimsy fabric, nope, not ever. I agree that 'not classy' does not mean that it is trashy, an important distinction.
Your disco print in my day was called Emilio Pucci and is emminently classy.
Logos have always been tacky in my book. People with money don't need to advertise it.
I love how you found plus size models to exhibit the styles
Love what you’re wearing! The color and style of that top is very flattering on you
Navy is an awesome color for you! It has always been one of my favourites and now I see why as we have the same hair and skin coloring. ❤
When you mentioned the huge bag on the not-classy list, it reminded me of the episode on 'Succession' when Tom skewers Greg's date saying "she’s brought a ludicrously capacious bag. What’s even in there, huh? Flat shoes for the subway? Her lunch pail? I mean, Greg, it’s monstrous. It’s gargantuan. You could take it camping. You could slide it across the floor after a bank job" LOL and it wasn't even as big as these new bags but a boxy Burberry.
That is soooo exactly my thoughts with those bags! 🤣🤣
Love denim on denim done properly….no torn or fringed denim!
I started a new job today, came home feeling stressed then I see a new video from Anna…yay a fun video to watch😊!
Grover has good taste and so does his Mama. :) Really enjoyed this, Anna! Shannon A.
I could watch your channel for hours! Thank you for another great video!
I was given a beautiful Chanel bag that had the smallest black logo on the smooth black leather. I love that it’s not a super loud quilted bag and fairly unnoticeable. These days I feel much safer carrying it and love that it doesn’t SCREAM look at me. 😉
Totally agree with all of your thoughts and examples!! Love your channel!
Thank you, Anna! You are such a fun presenter! 😊
I love both loud colors and tone down colors. The TRUTH is the more older I get the more loud in colors I want to have on me 😃😃😃
I love this top on you Anna !
I just love your videos! Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us! 😊
How to make a corset look elegant ... white peasant style blouse with cuffed wrists and stand up mandarin style collar, tucked into a full black maxi skirt, and then wrap a black jacquard Victorian style corset over top. Looks quite stunning with laced up 'granny' shoes or boots and a jaunty black hat. The over all look sorta looks a bit like a full ball gown over a peasant blouse but a little more elevated. I've worn this myself and I wish I had pictures to share.
Anna love all your videos ! You are such a classy girl!❤
Your hair looks so good!!
The ladies in The Devil Wears Prada wore metallics by day in a very classy way
They also worked in NYC at a fashion mag! A little different from small town USA 😄
Always, you look amazing. Thank you for the tips and advice. 😁😁
You are so welcome!
Haha the beat of Staying Alive is the CPR beat!
Denim on denim can look really nice with some classic pearls or a long chain and a bold colored bag.
Disco prints look elegant and feminine 😊❤
Very helpful for putting together Spring outfits that rock…! Thanks ❤
Glad you liked it! ❤️
You showed me how denim on denim can work. Didn't see that coming!
I agree with all of the points you made in the video! The disco print is actually called "Pucci print" after the original designer Emilio Pucci 😊
If the logo on the YSL bag is small, I don’t know what is big..😂
Love your makeup and hair shade!
I love the fact that you give so many great advices and share your opinion with us rather the just saying ,, this looks classy don't wear that that is not how you want to look" and from this video I understood your style which is cool in my opinion definitely subscribing
Oh yeah! Denim maxi skirts. So classy. I love them. I also enjoy denim on denim looks.
Same! ❤️❤️❤️
Totally can relate to you concerning the cargo pants
At the beginning I didn't like them at all but now since I have a black pair-
I really like them. It empowers you somehow, almost like a uniform. I style my outfit in all black, with chunky boots, the hem of the cargos tucked in.
I think you nailed it Anna!!
I agree with everything. The disco dress, the right style, could look great to wear for specific places/occasions.
Metallic long pleated flowing skirt can be classy in the day
Love your videos. Thank you
I love how careful you were not to offend. 😅 I’ve tried denim on denim in front of the mirror and just can’t get with it. The only daytime metallic I might wear is a shoe. I’m not a fan of looking at other people while they’re wearing sheer stuff with underwear. It makes me feel dirty lol.😂 I’m sure if I wore it people would run screaming!
I can’t get with most denim on denim either but I love doing white jeans with a light denim or even grey denim shirt, super cute!
On the metallic topic, I ordered a pair of darker silver ballet flats which actually have the look of a slight wedge. Not super delicate, but I plan to wear them with basics: denim or bottoms in black, white, gray, navy. Looking forward to playing with them!!
I don’t really like metallic clothing for day wear but I did buy a pair of Paul Green metallic sneakers. Wondering if I am brave enough to wear them.
Wear the sneakers! Fashion is fun. And truly, most people are so focused on what THEY are wearing anyway, you will likely just get a passing glance. 😂
Dang, I love your channel. Can’t wait for the old money video. xo, Cowgirl Deb
Fun vid !!! Thank you!🥰🙏🏽💃🏼
You really give great points on the fashion style and colors thats out.. Thanks...🥰😇
❤ loved the whole video. I love how you show all the different types of people and sizes. Hummm the metallic. I’m glad that’s back. I’m not sure if I would wear that in the daytime. Because of you, I bought a pair of cargo pants and my outfit was just beautiful with the pointy shoes. I got nothing but compliments all evening & love listening to you. I always feel that you’re talking to me. Keep it up.😊🌸🌸🌸💯🥳🙏
Love your blouse! The color is perfect.
Denim on denim is classic, especially in the West. I’m in Colorado and it’s always been around. Metallic shoes can look good during the day, but I would steer clear of metallic pants for day. Baggy jeans look trendy and are too young for me. They are also very shortening on the leg. I think you have to be very tall to pull it off. Disco prints too trendy for me. Thank you Anna!
You have a great opinions and insight Anna; stop apologizing for them!
Whoa! Your eye shadow color and those lashes …! You’re one of the most beautiful and charming CZcamsr I follow and I love and appreciate your contents all the time. I believe you look best with more natural eye makeup and let your natural beauty shines through.
So funny,I think she looks better without the darker eye makeup, it tends to age most…she is a beautiful woman
Love love love!
I really enjoyed this video Anna you never disappoint 😊 I dont know if you would agree but to me, another item that may or may not look classy is leopard print. And i LOVE leopard print, its my favourite print for as long as i can remember, but I have noticed over the years that its a print that can easily veer into the opposite of classy territory if not done right. Maybe you can bless us with some Do's & don'ts of leopard/animal print in a future video, pretty please? 😊 Much love from South Africa ❤
Great video; thanks.
I seem to slowly adjust from initially often disliking new trends to starting to like them (or at least not strongly dislike them) the more I see them on other people. But it can often take me so long to adjust, the trend is on its way out by the time I’m ready to start wearing it. Even so I at least like to know whether I’m vaguely on trend or not. It doesn’t really matter much to me until I go to a slightly dressier that usual event and then the trends become more obvious. I live in NZ so its not usually as cutting edge here though - I think we tend to follow the US and are usually a season behind (eg everyone is dressing for spring, while we are heading into everyone’s previous winter).
Haha, same here, first I hate the stuff on people and then 2 years later I start wearing it😂
Love metallic during the day
I agree with you. Also, you look especially beautiful in this video.
❤Love your hair style in this video
Great video and I agree with your choices. Don’t pull back be your own silly funny self. Missed that!
I really enjoyed this video!
i agree with you on all points. glad i'm not the only one feeling this way about "cargo" - also, disco print? too trendy.
Agreed! It will be fun for… a few months?!? 😄❤️
I love the silk blouse you have on… that is definitely classy🎉
That first denim on denim photo with the jeweled sandals is fire.
Such a fun video! 😊💕
Hey Anna, I like watching your videos! You are quite funny in a subtle way, lol! I loved one of your videos where you have talked about 10 things that you committed doing daily for 21 days! I have started doing those things and amazed how it makes me feel better! I live in Florida too, having an ability to meet morning light outside every day is a great blessing, especially when I get early enough to see sunrise at the beach :) it is such an energizing experience! Thank you for your videos!
Great video! I bought a silver pleated maxi skirt. The only thing that looked good with it was silver pointy toe booties. So after struggling with a top or sweater I gave up as it was a one look. If I can’t wear something several ways it’s a struggle for me. So I gave them to a friend who can pull everything off as she is young and gorgeous! Intend to dress more the Row looks with an edgy twist. Hugs xoxo
Love the longer knit dress on you. I got 2 for the season and they make me look tall.
Hi Anna. Thanks for a great video. You brought out many good questions and answers about dressing and making outfits.
I had to comment about denim on denim because I think the type of denim puts people on one side or the other. For example, I tried putting on my denim shirt with my denim pants and I looked like someone in prison. 😅 or I belonged on a ranch. But in some of your examples, the person wore a romantic blouse that was denim material with wide leg bottoms and that changed the whole vibe of the outfit. I think that's why there is a big divide on that look.
I agree with you completely!!
Fun video Anna, and just wanted to say your hair & makeup look especially nice in this video! Not saying they don't always, but today is extra good 😊
Love the disco prints! Dislike the denim skirt though, flash back to some era I've lived through...
Lol I hear you! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh yes! This is the topic I’ve been waiting for! Although I love dressing modestly, by no means is it frumpy. My daughter would not allow it! 🤣 Love the “Classy Woman” look right now ala CC Babcock 🤣 with the nipped in waist longline blazers, straight midi skirts and classic pumps! 💘
I like your choices.
Luv your blouse today, and your lashes & hair…good job! The style tips are so informative… you go girl 💙 no metallic in the DAY..okay 👌wow to those clunky 👡’s …dangerous… & your flower 3d shoes are great. I kinda like some of the Retro print…😊
Classy and elegant is an attitude as well. If you have the right attitude you definitely can carry off the retro/disco style. It's all in the attitude baby😉 in my opinion
You are almost 100k subs!!!!!!! Anna Fighting!
Thank you! 🙌🙌🙌
I love the glamor of metalics! Just dress it down.😊
