When a craftsman is working if it looks easy what he's doing he's a professional . Excellent job. 🇺🇸
Thank you bro👍😊
One day, you will be gone, but your brickwork will stand there for another century. I have always admired bricklayers.
A sobering thought especially when you think how fast time seems to go by! But yeah a truly amazing thing🤔👍
Always look forward to your videos chris you should upload more often 👍
Thank you👍
Absolutely outstanding, Chris. That's a job to be really proud of for years to come.👏👏
Yes, thank you👍
2nd that
А раствор немного жидковат для кирпичной кладки покрепче нужен ,кирпич плывёт 😊
I Really enjoy watching this true craftsman every time.
Well done Chris and thanks for taking the time to produce the video.
Thank you very much!
Ex brickies laborer from the early eighties here, thank you, I enjoyed this.
Thank brother👍
Same here, worked with a bunch of belgums great guys
Made my day with memories of building my house 40 odd years back. So refreshing to know that Flemish bond is still up there. Spoke to a young lad starting out and he has yet to do any work other than stretcher and bucket handle pointing. He had never heard of lime mortar which suprised me. Loved the nice touch of the camber arch over the window and a proper looking cill.
Excellent job as always Chris.
Always a pleasure to click on your videos 👍🏻
Thank you, much appreciated 👍
Cracking job Chris , I’m a time served Brickie myself who gave up the trade in my late 20’s to take up a completely different career path - I seen far too many old Scottish brickies bent , stooped , broken and riddled with arthritis with the cold damp weather at home - I digress , it’s great seeing the easy skill you show on your vids and I whooped with delight when I correctly predicted how you were going to overcome facing the RSJ with cuts etc . Look forward to more of your content Chris ✊
👍🏴
Aww thank you, yeah I’ve had two hip replacements on my right leg and one on my left leg but that’s an hereditary condition…My wife is a Fife woman👍
@@foundationgood123 Ah.. fae the Kingdom O Fife 👌… Well good luck with the hip issue my friend , proper sore having issues there .. ouch !
👍🏴
Very nice job. I never had the patience to learn bricklaying. I had a very good friend who could lay bricks and blocks and stones from the time we were ten years old. I always admired his patience. Maybe after watching you I will give it a try, patience has set in as I got older. Thank you for the great content.
Thank you😊..Yeah I guess as we get older we change, have a go and I wish all the best👍🧱
lime mortar
Outstanding craftsmanship, you made a very complicated job look easy. Well done Chris 👏👏👏
Wow, thank you
Nice job, and it blends in really well with the existing. I'm a builder/bricklayer myself but in my twilight years now, and watching your video is making me want to jump on the line with you, it's been a long time since I did any Flemish, and it just happens to be my favourite bond, well done.
Thank you, it’s so satisfying to stand back at the end of the day and see what’s been done and working through the difficulties. I don’t think I’ll ever stop to be honest I love the buzz it brings and yes Flemish bond is a beautiful bond👍
my god what a great job and what a set of hands .nice one keep up the good work
Thank you! Cheers!...keeping the hands working👍
What a wonderful and beautiful craft bricklaying is. Such a pity that too few are willing to learn it! And you, Sir, are an excellent teacher.
Aw thank you very much👍
Very very impressive Chris, beautifully blended to the old..
Thanks👍
Good to see you back Chris , lovely job that and I’m with you on the Furness bricks, nice to work with , super strong and loads of colours and character 🤩🧱👍🏼
Thanks Steve, how’s the hip? Not easy work when the hip is in pain!
Cracking job Chris. Excellent brick match and blending in etc. First class 👍👍👍
Thank you👍
Thank you.
Only good valuable tradesman in not afraid to share his knowledge.
Impressive, I was annoyed that you were leaving that big beam, I was surprised when you bricked over it, very cool.
It could have been removed no problem however, the cost was going to shoot their budget over what they wanted to pay!!
Fellow builder from leek here. Passed most days top job as ever 👏👏
Haha..Thanks bro👍
Great craftsman!
Love your workmanship
Thank you👍
What a fab job you did here. Great explanations and talking to us like we are your peers! I have a few construction friends I will be sending this vid too Chris. I hope you have effort to do more of these. I sure could have done without any of the music though. Thanks !
Awesome! Thank you!
So valuable. This will inspire some youngsters❤
They’re the next generation, hopefully we can inspire apprentices on in the art👍
Wonderful! As an original stonemason and stone sculptor I love it. In particular the brick arch and the stone window sill.
Thank you very much!👍🧱
Top work Chris - Dare I say - The future for all the uk’s high street shops in the not too distant future - your never be out of work m8. The rest of us might be though!
Thanks mucca, said to say High Streets are suffering 😔
All they want is bastard Amazon and everybody paying by card - it’s over bar the shouting.
What a cracking job, craftsman 👍👊
Many thanks👍
Nice one.
We need to keep your skills alive, I hear a lot of new-build chimneys are now GRP because of the skills shortage. :(
Always satisfying watching a true craftsman at work, we need to get youngsters doing this instead of Mickey Mouse degrees like "media studies".
A Master at work
Thanks for the video Chris

Merci bien
Seen a lot of your brick work now. Faultless. Big fan of those bricks as well. A beautiful wall and arch like that deserves a far nice window.
Couldn't agree more. Bloody lovely brick work then white window 😕
Thank you very much!
From a reiterd Bricky from down south. Lovely old job
Aw thanks, I started in 1978 straight from school in the April😊

love the 80s kung fu inspired dubbing at the start
Hahaha when came into post I realised the mic didn't work🙄...so I did a dub..👍🧱
beautiful bit of work mate!
Thank you Izzy, how you doing bro! Enjoy the Bank Holiday👍
Good old school bricky 😮
Very nice work what a transformation, I did wonder how you would deal with that wonky girder💪💪💪
It was a challenge I used the “Pistol brick” where the bricks are conveniently cut out in order to create the lip!
God job man and Nice
Nice Work & Video 👍
Thank you 👍
Top job how clever
Nice job 👍
Thank you👍
Thats some brickying, great job,i bet your mate hated doing those cuts, lol

Mint job

stellar job, looks like it was always there. canine therapy though, not sure what that's about, there are people in the UK who can't afford to eat.
Excellent work Chris. The client pays for quality brickwork then installs a cheap pvc window 😮
Great job that pal 🧱🧱🧱
Thank you👍
Lovely old job
tahnk you👍🧱
Wish spot boards were up high in my days ....no bending, still can't avoid bending or "nosebleeding" though
Leek makes a change!
I spotted the mistake. 😂
fair play for putting it right. should have left it in the video though. we're all human
Top❤
Where about in the country are based mate ? Cheers. Lovely work !
Staffordshire, this job was in Leek.
What is a furrness brick ? Does it mean the bricks were fired in a furness or the brick are made for use in a furness, e.g. a fire bricks ?
Its a company in Cumbria (Furness) they make the bricks and match them
@@foundationgood123 Thanks for the reply.
Really fiddly and time consuming job there. Looks great
Thank you👍…Yes they are fiddly
Do you not use formers anymore? It’s lucky you’re very good but if you had an apprentice you might get the reveal plumb.
You’re not making sense bud…The brick arch is being built over an arch former…if I had an apprentice you might get the reveal plum (what do you mean?)
It was as I sent the comment, the formers appeared
So David Moyes has gone back to bricklaying.
And I should have said I didn't realise David was a master of his craft and a man to be admired.
isn't it great when someone knows what they're doing
what the brown mortar? at the clay? or cement?
Lime mortar
@@foundationgood123 Lime!?!?!?! but, Holmes, why???
It’s elementary dear Watson
🇬🇧👍🙂
Is that not a segmental arch ?
Gauged camber arch
If your bricking up the opening couldn’t you have done away with the steel all together as it’s not really doing much now the shop fronts gone
I could have no problem, however the client didn’t want to pay the extra costs of removing them!!
The windows spoil it
🥴
Tidy.
The kid's wearing Occidental Leather U.S.A.
Yeah, he loves it bro👍🧱
Not Good
You Need A Lintel 😢
Amén.
The big double RSJ steel was already installed many years ago because the original house front was converted into a big shop frontage, I was reinstating the original frontage and the owners didn’t want the huge cost of removing the steels!
A lot of thinking about that job aswell mate, a lot of people won’t realise them small jobs can drain the life out of you🤪🤣 come across them jobs when there’s a pig in it and you’ve toothed it out already not realising 🤪🤣
That is not a CAMBER ARCH.
The audio is out of synch, mate.
Yes at the start bud, I had to dub it as the mic didn’t work and the traffic overwhelmed my voice! The rest is ok though!!
Roit fawncy.
bricklayer ????? the frog goes down not up (that's the dip in the brick for you none bricklayers)
