He puts so much soul and energy into this song. I truly believe that he did so, so, so much justice to this song. The emotion that he is able to convey is breathtaking. The power his voice has, the strength of his vocals and impact that gets felt from his tone is unmatched. I love this song to no end. It’s so powerful. He is so talented. I will always love his rendition and feel appreciation for how he was able to breathe new life into this song, to showcase his talent and his own appreciation for singing and music and art. You just know how genuine he is just from this. Love it 💖

I love how he starts so softly, so gentle to lure you in, then approaching the climax of the song he unleashes pure passion and grit! This guy is a pure masterpiece! I cried when I first heard his version, it really does stand out from other versions of this song. Thanks for the reaction Luke! I love watching all of these. xx

It's amazing that he was able to give such a performance. If I remember correctly, he was either recovering from a cold/flu or was still sick when he gave that performance.

He was sick and the producers were pushing for him to use auto tune but he kept refusing. They used it at one spot and afterwards he went off on them.
Yeah, he’s sitting on a stool because he was so sick with the flu he couldn’t stand. They were preparing to replace them but he refused and did THIS. David is a beast.

I am 76 and grew up listening to Simon & Garfunkel's version from 1964 along with many others until I heard Disturbed's version last year when I finally understood the song. I would like a DVD of the studio version video with the audio of the Conan Show you just finished. I have also seen the Houston live performance with Miles Kennedy and the Moscow live performance; they are all the same except the 20-piece orchestra behind David Draiman on this performance which has had over 100 million views. This one had the backstage workers come out to see who was singing and the audience gave them a standing ovation and applause for over 10 minutes reported by several audience members.
I have been watching a lot of reaction videos and almost every one of them is a complete surprise and awe of these performances.
Well Luke, I’m usually here for all things BTS but I love this performance by disturbed. David has an incredible voice and was quite sick when he recorded this. I’m so excited, never clicked so fast💜

The fact that he was able to do this while incredibly sick just makes David that much more badass.
Disturbed is also one of my all tume favorite bands and Stricken is still one of my favorites. The music video to this song is how I was introduced to reaction videos. I didn't know such a thing existed until I saw one for their mv. I still watch every reaction to this song that I see. Mindblowing!
I am so proud of you! This song reduces me to tears- every time ! I am sure since you are such a devoted Distrubed fan, you know that he was a trained cantor. I would love to hear some of that ! His voice is beyond amazing!
I got to see them live about 10 or so years ago - I wasn't a huge fan of theirs, but came out of that concert just in awe of his stage presence and voice and have followed them ever since. First time I heard their version of this song, I didn't even know I was crying until it was over.
I’m usually here for PTX and normally not a Disturbed fan but I absolutely LOVE David’s voice and how he made this song everything it could be. The video is fabulous as well as helping to tell the story so well. This and Pentatonics version though different, but also phenomena are tied in my own opinion. Great reaction.
Yes he was still under the weather during this performance. What really ticked him off was that the producers, knowing he wasn't well, used Autotune on him without him knowing. He was seriously pissed when he found out. Brillant man, band. Thanks for this reaction and that you've been a 'Disturbed fan for so long, like me! Good health, and continue the great journey!

I saw them live in Lowell, Ma around 2001, maybe 2002? The Toadies also played. Great times. I had heard that he would come in carted upside down, and sure enough they ran him through the crowd upside down (i think) in a hannibal mask on a dolly lol. Chris Stapleton - Tennessee Whiskey is a must watch live performance, whether you like country or not. Its absolutely amazing.
David is an amazing singer and performer. I have had the pleasure and honour of seeing them live three times from Ozzfest in the beginning to a small club in Cincinnati to a large concert arena. They amaze me every time.

I'm so glad you reacted to this. Disturbed is my favorite band. They don't have a single song I don't like. I've seen them several times in concert and they are amazing. This rendition of the Sound of Silence is fabulous. My favorite songs are The Light, Believe, Prayer and Are you Ready. But I will listen to any of their songs. The last time I saw them they were with Megadeath. The time before was Godsmack. Two great bands also.
Very few performances give me ACTUAL CHILLS. Heart doing Stairway To Heaven at the Kennedy center, Queen at Live Aid and THIS!
I am a photographer with a radio station and I have had the pleasure of taking photos of 2 of their live shows. To see this song played live was awesome.
I passed David Draiman in a backstage hallway. He was dressed for the stage and was taking his little son (2/3 years old) out to the bus. It was adorable.
Man, you've got to get some Elvis Presley live performances on the channel. "Suspicious Minds" and "Love Me Tender" live from Vegas will blow your mind. Living near Memphis my whole life, I never knew. I just started the journey and it's insane how great Elvis was live. He breaks the 4th Wall and it's what made him unique.
I am sure you have done Johnny Cash, Hurt. But I am not sure there is a live version to it. But you should have that on this channel! Definitely channel worthy !
You should check out their song Hold on to Memories. The official video…it’s incredible. Currently relevant since we just celebrated Dia de los Muertos on November 1st. You will love it!

Damn can anyone possibly listen to this and not cry? No matter how many hundreds of times it's heard it always brings you to tears. The mix between those lyrics, that amazing voice, and the orchestra just hits you right in the heart. It's so beautiful.
Also how is the live version so similar to the official recording?
I love this cover/rendition so much, more than the original I grow with . I reamly enjoy Simon and Garfunkel, I enven attend one of their concert in the 90' , but this vresion is incredble, powerful and emotional. Maybe because I'm a old rock/metal fan, but it touch me to the heart, since years now. Disturbed version of Sound of silence is in all my playlists, and I listen to it at least once a week ! (and I cry EACH TIME ! ) Happy to share this moment with you.
I’ve been a fan of Disturbed since the day I picked up their first album. I actually had never heard of them, but I was working a promo event for the local radio station and at the end, they gave us a choice of stuff to grab and I ended up grabbing their album and have loved them ever since. This was before they had even charted.
He has one of the most beautiful voices. You can always tell it's him. One of the biggest reasons Disturbed is one of my absolute favorite bands. I got to see them live and it blew my mind how perfect they sounded.

An amazing trivia fact about David Draiman, he is actually classically trained as a cantor, (someone who sings in synagogue). Since being Jewish and being part of a synogigue is usually a family tradition, can you imagine what his parent must of thought when he dropped out of the church to go sing in a heavy metal band? lol Oh, and another thing, this performance was amazing, and he had the flu and refused to not perform, can you imagine what it would of sounded like had he not been sick?
Here is an older one, You might not have heard of or reacted to. The Guitarist Eric Johnson , doing Cliffs Of Dover - Live . It sounds amazing, and if you are a guitarist, and can understand what he is doing, and able to pull off, you will be moved and flabbergasted .
The fact that he was seriously ill and running a fever moment's before going on stage; that's why he was sitting during the performance. David and Disturbed are simply amazing!

I don't know if you'll see this comment since this video is from 4 months ago, but if you're still doing your live music journey and haven't watched Blue October "Fear" live, you should. The official music video is also awesome, but if this is a live music journey it wouldn't fit hehe Any live performance of any Blue October song really. David Draimon (Disturbed) and Justin Furstenfeld (Blue October) are two musicians that never cease to amaze and delight me. My two favorite voices to listen to, they are both so distinct and unique - and wonderful humans to boot! Love love love them both so much.
when i saw the MV for this for the first time i literally watched the whole thing with my mouth open in amazement without even realizing it. Personally i prefer Simon and Garfunkel's live version but this is an all round solid performance!

This is the epitome of a male vocalist, brings goose bumps every time I hear it not to mention the occasional welling of the the eyes, obsoletely perfect in every way. I am not usually a fan of covers but, controversially, I will 100% say this was better than the original. With such power, emotion and meaning conveyed I am sure Simon and Garfunkel themselves would even agree. This is how this song should sound

Disturbed and A7X, that must have been a show to remember! Not jealous at all. /sarc Draiman really does have an incredible voice and M Shadows has really come a long way as a vocalist too. This, the MV or the live, will always give me chills. It's a powerful song to start but what Disturbed did with it is so masterful.
It's easy to ignore the lyrics in the Simon & Garfunkel version, but you can't ignore the lyrics when Disturbed does this cover. The S&G version was a warning. This version showed the anger and frustration that the warning had not been heeded and if anything things have gotten worse. What a great interpretation of this song. Best cover ever.

I also love Disturbed cover of the Genesis classic 'Land Of Confusion'. It's just incredible. Draiman's voice gives me goosebumps. In fact my goosebumps have goosebumps of their own!

The MV version is great, no doubt about it. This version though is perfection. I've also been a fan for many years, first hearing "The Game" my senior year in high school, a friend had me take him to the store to get the CD the day it came out. Unfortunately I've never been their live show, I had backstage tickets and front row seats for their 2020 tour with staind but covid canceled that. Great reaction.
For people like us to have always loved them this just proves what we all always said. They are talented. This is one of my favorite live songs. Just awesome! Plus it's nice seeing a little more variety on the channel.
In my opinion, this is a lot better than the official music video. Furthermore, this Conan O'Brian Show version is better than all the other live versions of this song I have seen. It has the mood lighting, the full orchestra, the ambiance really draws you in.
Another music group I thought was really good on the Conan O'Brian Show was Skillet. I had never heard their music before and now I have two of their albums.

My favourite live rock performance is Alter Bridge’s Words Darker Than Their Wings live at the Royal Albert Hall. It’s incredible!
I love this version and grew up with Simon & Garfunkel. I felt that David actually did this the way that it was originally intended but S&G couldn't at the time. You do that David was ill at the time but didn't want to cancel the appearance on the show. Yeah, you have to listen to it really closely and there is a difference. That said, he is stunning, amazing and spine chilling sick or not! Love this!!!

FLORENCE + THE MACHINE! It's really hard to narrow it down to just one song with her, she's just sounds exactly the same whether live or in the studio. But when she's live (most of the time) she's also bouncing and running around the stage while ALSO singing flawlessly!

I was also at the concert with avenged 7x. The funny thing was soo many people left after disturbed finished before A7 came on. Showed who the true headliners should have been!

Some artists perfoming live are what make or break it for me.
I mean, just check some artists over at FIRST TAKE channel. A ton of anime songs from the respective artists being performed in one sitting. I think they have some deal with Sony since they even brought Avril Lavigne for a song recently.
My favorite album of Disturbed is Indestructible with the title track Indestructible being my favorite song from Disturbed.
Such a distinct, powerful voice. And one of the best growls, screams in metal. A few bars into a song, you know it’s Disturbed.
Best joke I have heard: When God was making David Draiman, he asked him if he wanted the singing voice of an angel or a demon. David said "Yes please!"

Disturbed and A7X on a double bill. That must have been awesome! This version is amazing and I've heard that David was unwell and had to sit rather than stand for this performance. It's absolutely incredible whatever.
If you're looking for a recommendation for live performance, Avi Kaplan (ex Pentatonix) has just released a live version of 'I'm a Fool' recorded at Sunset Studio. It's fabulous and rocking and definitely to be heard. I have already recommended Pink Floyd doing Comfortably Numb live at the Pulse Concert in 1994 - hopefully you will get to this classic!
