  • The 72nd in my Retro Goa Explorations series of videos in which I present some of my favourite 'Goa Trance' tracks from the '90s.
In this series, I go back to my first experiences in the Goa Trance electronic dance music movement starting in late 1994, drawing upon my recollections of hearing specific music at certain events and using my classical music background explore the elements that I believe make these tracks so great.
The series is currently focused on music I first encountered in the '96-97 season, starting in September 1996, when I moved to London. The track presented in this episode was only released in 1998 but I was lucky enough to get my hands on it in the summer of 97 - a major acquisition in a DAT trade with a DJ far more established than I was! - and it's been a favourite ever since. After I give some background about the artist and the music, I present the track simultaneously with my observations; after some closing remarks, I then share it without my commentary.

I hope you include psylent buddhi in your goa trance series. Speaking of aliens, this guy was visited by them when he made music. so psychedelic, and never think ive heard music with so many layers that sounds good and not overlapping

Favourite mix cd was chrisbo travel bug for return to the source label. Such a creative mix.

Great track, a new one for me. My theory is that Freeland brought back his “origin” of earliest 90’s UK rave sound. The atonal bleeps and spontaneity reminds me of, among others, Eat Static’s early output.

Very interesting tune. Those strings are so familiar and I'm sure I've heard them in another tune but can't recall the artist or title atm...
