He was referring to his "buddy" as the poor chap who had to go and Bury his leg.
He was affectionately referred to as " Cartoos" sahab by his Gurkha troops, since his name Cardozo was tough to pronounce by his troops.
" Cartoos" translates to literally a cartridge( like 5.56 ...)
Ahh okay, thanks!! I wasn’t sure
Ian Cardozo- His name sounds like an English/UK or Spanish maybe
Proud to be Gorkha 😌💪🏻
Respect!
Babu means... Who does office work.. also used for bureaucrats...
So he said.. he didnt join the army for office work...
Ahh great, thank you !!
Here the word babu has been used to mean a person doing desk job. Here it has been used derisively as a soldier would rather fight on the front.
Ahhh so like a Pog!! Got it, thanks!
'If someone tells you he is not afraid of death, either he is lying or he is Gorkha.

Great man and great quote! 🇮🇳🙏❤️
@@JustAnotherArmyVet yes. 👍😎🙂🙏
Proud to be a gurkha..
Respect!
Such an inspiring story. I hope war ends everywhere on earth and we can stay like a big family. War has never benefitted anyone in the end. It is also inspiring to see such bravehearts are born in our soil 😃😃💓
Yes, well said. ❤️💙🤗🙏
Men of Honor is one of my favorite movies. Sadly, they don't make movies like that in India
It’s not my favorite Military movie, but I did enjoy it 🙂👍
@@JustAnotherArmyVet Recommend movies to me, your favorite ones too. Last week I saw Hacksaw Ridge. The real life story behind it is unbelievable!
@@TheSilentlearner awesome movie! They actually had the tone down the movie, because they were afraid audiences, wouldn’t actually believe everything that he did in real life. Some good war movies are The Pacific, Band of Brothers, Platoon, We Were Soldiers, Saving Private Ryan, and Blackhawk down. And let’s not forget the newest “ all quiet on the western front.” I’ve not seen 1917 or masters of the air yet. So I don’t know if there’s movies or any good or not. Anyway, those movies were just opera top my head. 🙂
@@JustAnotherArmyVet you must watch 1917! The acting, visual effects, and cinematography are excellent!
All Quiet on the Western Front is another great choice.
I'll watch We Are Soldiers today 😎
And I forgot to mention my all time favorite: Shooter featuring Marky Mark 🤪
Fascinating life story, he’s tuffness in a shell. Will try to finds he’s book. Not many people know about the still ongoing conflicts that India has (outside that region ofcourse). I was in Bangalore India for work in the late 2000 (IT) and I was chocked by the news reports. Didn’t have any knowledge at all about those conflicts.
I went to India for about five days and 2001 for a semester at Sea. And I didn’t learn about any of these wars until I start doing CZcams…Yes, It may be worth it to read the book. I bet he has him amazing stories!
Babu is a slur used for Bureaucrats
Thanks for clarifying!
And Pappu🤣
Babu is not slur, the nearest synonym could be "Sir"
Yeah the ghurkas are really tough guys and tough soldiers ohh man that takes a lot to cut off your own leg ohh lord. Thank you for sharing much appreciated.
My pleasure! But yes, Gurkhas are tough! I couldn’t imagine cutting off my own leg. It reminds me the hiker who got stuck in a canyon and had to cut off his arm to escape: Aaron Ralston. I think that happened about 20 years ago. That made a movie about him, “127 hours.” Anyway, thanks for watching! 🙂
@@JustAnotherArmyVet Yes that is correct they made a movie about him. And i would not have the strength to cut off my own leg either i would let that to those who knows what they are doing.
I think CZcams deleted my comment. Lol but yes, he had adrenaline in his veins that was making him not have any pain probably.
@@JustAnotherArmyVet Ohh lord that has never happened before that i have deleted a comment like that. Yes that sounds like a logic explanation

You wouldn't want to be the Highlander anywhere near these boys.
Highlander? The only Highlander I know are the Scottish Highlanders…
It's a movie, he's immortal unless his head gets cut off. Lol
@@RubberKiwi79 oh yeah!! The show!! I forgot about that 😂😂
How's our puppy doing? Is he learning how to do reaction videos yet?
@@RubberKiwi79 😂
Chopping his leg off was tough.
I guess he must have been in the initial shock from stepping on the mine, when he did it.
From what I heard, pain sets in after a while in serious injuries like that, but you know best on that one, due to specialty.
You are right. He had adrenaline running through his veins. But once that adrenaline wears off, that’s when you feel everything… my most respect to him though. Reminds me of Aaron Ralston, the hiker that had to cut off his own arm. Ever heard of the movie, 127 hours?

Despite suffering the handicap of being an officer,he used to run around with a bag full of frags & his issue.38 revolver, never wore a helmet & he’d always take his platoons frags for personal use 🇦🇺🇺🇸
@@2eREPPARA awesome!
6:05 oh so thats a real life story? I watched it way back and i just can recall the scene wher he lost his leg in an accident, yet he wanted to qualify for a diver, his instructor purposely tore off his utility bag inside the deep water so that he could not find all the parts for re assembly ( a test similar to re assembly of weapons) ,but he stayed in the water , refused to come to surface, untill he found all the scattered pieces at the bottom and re assemble the thingy, he was even asked to march in the court room to prove his worthiness, & he did that too, is that all a real story mam??
Yes! Men of Honor!! Robert De Niro was the instructor. But yes, the movie is based on his life. 🙂
@JustAnotherArmyVet u said u will bring ozzy too on the video for a while 🐶😅
@@infinity1182 I will eventually 🙂
I know you’d reply, that’s why I’m asking. what does American soldiers think of India? If given choice to work with India or Pakistan, who’d be US soldiers choice? 😅

@@JustAnotherArmyVet I really expect to see it soon, I love your reaction and is also a very interesting video. I hope you will put it on top of the list 🙂
@@timosthomo566 thank you! You are so sweet. I already have a few videos filmed that are ready to be published. Next on my list to film is Sabaton. Then, I can probably film the Averof video (in the next week or 2). I can try to have it published either next month or possibly May. I think that is a reasonable time frame 🙂.
A gurkha commanding officers once gifted my father a khukri in a school where my father use to teach. We still have it. Jai mahakali aayo gorkhali.
That must be a prized possession!!!
@@JustAnotherArmyVet yes we hindus by faith as same as many gurkhas worshipp out weapons on a day before dusshera( dusherra is celebrated as coming back of bhagwan ram from exile and fierce battle he fought to free hostages and his beloved wife sita) on that day all off hindus celebrate dushheraa. The core morale of dushera is to always raise weapons againsts evil and to safe gaurd people. Jai hind
@@JustAnotherArmyVet yes it is my prized possession. A real gurkha khukri.
@@t.s.p1864 I did not realize that about the worshiping of weapons. Thank you for sharing ! Cheers !🇮🇳❤️🙏
@@JustAnotherArmyVet madam thank you for appreciating and accepting the fact. Hindu civilization has faced many invasion throughout history. I personally belong to rajpoot clan, like I personally have my family members in rajpoot rifles. And rajpoot regiment. Thats why that gurkha commanding officer gifted khukri to my father as token off respect. Worshipping weapons is like a tradition in many india warrior clans like rajpoot, marathas, Sikhs, and when i say rajpoot i include all warrior clans from across India. For us rajpoot and gurkhas and Sikhs its a like family tradition to serve in the armed forces. My 2 brother in laws are in army. All this just to give you more seep insight off our military tradition. On dushheraa its a religious ceremony to thank gods and the almighty who always stands beside the righteousness and the one determined of valour. Jai hind. May world and human kind find peace with dialogues than that off war.
